North Point is a mixed-use urban area in the Eastern District of Hong Kong. Located in the northeastern part of Hong Kong Island, the area is named after a cape between Causeway Bay and Tsat Tsz Mui that projects toward Kowloon Bay.
North Point is a district east of the popular Causeway area of Hong Kong Island. It is an older and more traditional area where you can get away from the tourist side of the city and enjoy spending time where locals go about their daily lives.
Several major hotels are located in North Point and far more western friendly restaurants these days. In the Fortress Hill area there are also quite a few speciality coffee shops. Loads of local eateries if preferred.
North Point like most districts is loaded with commercial shopping centres, department stores, street side retail and speciality shops. The Harbour North shopping mall on Java Road is probably the largest and most modern shopping venue east of Causeway Bay. Otherwise, most of what you will see is more local and resident friendly commercial space.
There are a couple interesting street markets. Marble Street is an open street market for women's clothing, garments and related items. Just west of Marble Street is the Chun Yeung street market, this is a nice wet market scene, mostly shops over stalls but a neat opportunity to see locals actively shopping for meats, seafood, veggies and fruits and other food items.
There are a couple of heritage attractions in the area including the institutional Sunbeam Theatre, a popular venue for the traditional Cantonese Opera. Art fans can also enjoy stopping by Oi (Oil Street Art Space) to see the early 20th century Royal Navy Yacht Club which has now been repurposed into a venue for visual art, culture and learning opportunities.
Overall, North Point is an interesting place on Hong Kong Island, where you can be in a local neighbour but still close to popular tourist areas on the city.

Beautiful North Point
