One thing about Sam Darnold i always respected is that whenever he stood up on a podium to communicate with the media, he always said "I have to play better, this loss is on me" whenever he had a bad game, even with the circumstances surrounding him like lack of talent, bad o-line, HORRIBLE coaching, ETC..kinda make u feel even more sympathetic for the kid on how his tenure ended here

Look at Taylor Heinicke. His teammates will run through a brick wall for him. He's not a great QB, but he's a leader who has the respect of the entire locker room and of the fan base. And he drives the fan base absolutely nuts sometimes.
Heâs a better QB than Wilson too.

Heinicke has shown glimpses almost like a younger Kirk Cousins with the Skins. He could end up being a good QB in this league but it's still early to say.

@@KarnageKollectibles If Heinicke was younger, I could see them trying to make him the long-term guy. But he's gonna be 30 when the 2023 season kicks off. He'll still be in Washington, but it's either gonna be as a backup to another veteran, or he'll be in competition with a rookie should Washington draft one early.

Mike White needs to be the starter from this point forward. Zip Wilson needs to sit his backside down and become a student of this game. Not all QB'S fresh out of college are a Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, etc. How long did Aaron Rodgers sit behind Brett Favre until he got his shot as a starter?? I still think Wilson can be developed but not by playing - he needs to sit and learn for at least this year and next - maybe even the year after. Keep playing him - or even trade him and he's ruined. The other thing that needs to happen is Robert Saleh needs to have a sit down with Mike LaFleur and that conversation should begin with "Friends are friends and business is business." Don't think the Jets thought they would be able to compete this year, so their plan was to see if he was the QB of the future. But you need to EARN your playing time, and he hasn't. Sends a bad message to the locker room.
I tend to lean more towards them being in their 2nd year and not really having to deal with such a situation before. The organization as a whole is united behind Zach, and they still think he's the franchise 'dealing with normal ups and downs', and that blinds them to the obvious -- that he's stinking up the joint BAD.

I remember someone on the radio talked about the Jets having better success with veteran QBs like Vinny Testaverde in 98 and Fitzpatrick in 2015. Look at the qbs the Jets drafted since Pennington, they all flamed out. Jets are betting going after veteran qbs and use their picks to build around the team.
