Being a nerd myself, what's great about Elvis Costello and the 80's sound is that it showed the world that nerds have talent too. At the time Costello recorded this, the punk rock movement, in which he was marketed, was showing it’s disdain for all things hippie (and musical). For Elvis to drop this on his fans, and all of us, was a truly beautiful thing at the time, and underscored his unwillingness to be pigeonholed.

Amber is a delight! She often zeros right in on what makes a track cool or important, and I, too, love music that takes me for a ride emotionally and mentally. Great work! Now, a suggestion: I know you've done a lot of The Who, but a would love if you would take a listen to "The Rock" from Quadrophenia. It's an instrumental but I think it's one of the most beautiful rock tracks ever recorded. Sit back and let it take you. Love and appreciate you!

As someone who was born in the mid 70’s in Scotland and so a teenager in the late 80’s to mid 90’s, I can confirm that Elvis Costello was an important influence to those who loved, played and made music even then…and I am referring to his entire back catalogue.
I can’t remember if you’ve done it already but if not, Elvis Costello and the Attractions performing Oliver’s Army would certainly be worth reacting to.

At the time Costello recorded this, the punk rock movement, in which he was marketed, was showing it’s disdain for all things hippie (and musical). For Elvis to drop this on his fans, and all of us, was a truly beautiful thing at the time, and underscored his unwillingness to be pigeonholed.
