@@evilutionltd I paid double that. When I searched in September only one insurance company had it listed. This September I’m hoping for a quote from several.
Yeah, it's not a smart car. It's a shrunken Mercedes EQS SUV for the Chinese market. However, it does feel well make and they are now making all the right noises about a new Fortwo. They won't please everyone. There'll be the people who will "never buy an EV", people who wouldn't buy a new fortwo because it's Chinese and therefore low quality shit, People who won't like the design or price etc. There'll always be moaners.
The fortwo owners said the same when the 454 came out, and the 451, and then the 453 and so on ;) It's the same in any car scene, the clio turbo ruined the clio brand, every golf that isn't a mk1 or mk2 ruined the golf ;)
@@problemchild1976 when it's a totally different manufacturer and a different company designing it, I think we can safely say it's not a real smart. It's better. However, people didn't buy smarts because they were better than other cars. 🤣
@@evilutionltd well if we were honest, smart the brand and deign was just looking to sell to a manufacturer - merc were the only ones interested interest their CO2 no doubt ;) Have you driven the #1 yet?
@@evilutionltdDid they give you a price on the roof glass? I was always super anal about using high quality perspex cleaner and conditioner on my 451 ED roof for fear of it needing replaced.
@@turbokadett From what I can remember, with my discount it was about £650. I will change it eventually as I'm sure it'll help other people. I was hoping it was totally flat as I would have changed it to polycarbonate or maybe even carbon fibre. I could use the current roof and create a carbon fibre roof using pre-preg laminate.
@@evilutionltd£650 isn't too bad, less than I was expecting although as you say it's with a discount. I remember back when I was a Vauxhall botherer, I spent so much time at the local parts department they gave me trade : D
50% Mercedes and 50% Geely = Smart. On 1 hand, it's not a smart. It's too big and doesn't look like a smart in any way. On the other hand, it's the best smart ever made.
the greatest project by far!
I was lucky that this is my 3rd CZcams project. I can assure you that future projects will only get worse from the end of this one.
Yeah, now i can see what a pain that top piece of plastic is to get off!
With parts being relatively inexpensive I’m going to ask for a discount on my insurance 🤣
Got the car insured today for £591.31 so that's not bad. Only about double what I pay for my fortwos.

Smart has really killed the brand for me with that car. I loved the fortwo, so much I had it for 9 years!

@@problemchild1976 yes, I have driven it a handful of times, mainly testing and shakedowns.
That glass roof damage is a right pain in the proverbial, can it be saved with Windscreen resin/glue?
I do have some of that resin, I just don't think it'll be very effective but I might give it a go as well as PPF the outside.
