  • Hey there! Please check out the updated version of this video published on 5/16/20 for an additional segment where I wear my flats and talk about some stabilization tips!
Okay okay, maybe not the oooonly exercise you'll ever need. However, if I could only do one (non-pivoting) tango exercise for the rest of my tango life it would be this one! This exercise combines strength, balance, coordination, fluidity of movement, precision, and foot/ toe stretching. If you do it correctly, it should be quite tricky! The more that you bend your knee and try to maintain that height, the harder it gets! This can be done in heels or on flats/ socks, even barefoot. This is great for both men and women. Do this while brushing your teeth or waiting for your toast to finish toasting. No excuses! Doing this just a few times a day will help with your overall tango technique. Enjoy!

I got them on a trip to Thailand! They are super duper comfy :) I’ve seen similar style pants called harem pants, but unfortunately I don’t have a store to link

once i did this exercise in a mimicry class.
i read the description of the video and i was wondering what is the difference among women’s tango technique and tango women’s technique; and the difference among men’s tango technique and tango technique man... what are they?

Hi! Much of the fundamental technique is the same between the leader’s and the follower’s technique. Because the followers are on heels, there are different ways that I move when I am wearing my heels to create beautiful lines, versus when I am in flats leading. Both people need to have good strength and coordination in the feet, and comfort being stable on just one leg. I find that the biggest difference when I lead vs my primary role as a follower is that I tend to have weight on both legs more frequently as a leader. I am virtually always on either my right or left as a follower. Also, I step through the heel much more frequently in flats as a leader, which isn’t as easy when I am in heels and therefore isn’t a core part of my followers technique. There are also embellishments that are more commonly done by followers, but that is not to say that leaders can not do them as well. Movement wise I feel that followers tend to pivot more, and have more circular movements around the leaders. One can say that to make a clear suggestion (lead) and to correctly identify the lead are two different skills, but I believe that they are two sides of the same coin. Learning to lead has made me a better follower as I learn how to help and take care of my leader through my movement and adjustments.

yes, i got the difference among leader's and follower's. what i didn't understand is why you wrote "women’s tango technique" AND "tango women’s technique" in the description of the video. i can't imagine a difference between those two terms. and the between "men’s tango technique" AND "tango technique man". what are the differences among those two terms? thank u. :)

Oh I think you may be referring to search terms at the bottom! I include a list of terms that a tango dancer may search in CZcams to find information about the dance. This way, if they type in these keywords they can more easily find my videos :) These are key words that I have researched that people look up that are related to tango videos! Hope this clarifies.
