  • This is fly-on-the-wall footage shot by the folks at ATV/ASN as a behind-the-scenes look at how Atlantic Pulse is produced. It was made for a Career Day event that my dad spoke at at Southdale Elementary School in Dartmouth (where I went) when I was in Primary.
This video was made in late March 1992. You will see the late Heather Proudfoot, editor Carmella Gillis, and Jonathan Kay, among others. Also excuse the fuzzy audio in spots.....that's what you get with old VHS tapes!

This is really cool, so good but but so hard to see my dear friend Heather.

Good thing about this clip is that it proves for everybody that the ATV and ASN News sets were in the same room in this period. And, somehow, both sets maintained, to a large degree, operational independence. =)
I'm still kind of hoping that full broadcasts of Pulse from this era could be posted here on YT. The stories may no longer bear relevance, but it'd still be good to see how news has evolved in places like Halifax.
Nice post here, Alex. If you got more stuff, keep it coming! =D

Hey Alex...I just caught something at timestamp 7:48 ....I saw a computer there that looks EXACTLY like the ColorGraphics computer that was used in the intro and outro sequences for the ASN Educational Television Service!
I wonder if that's the one they used for those pieces of footage?
    =)

I apologize for clogging up the comments here, Alex, but I think I've found out when this edition of Atlantic Pulse aired....Mar. 31, 1992.
The evidence behind my date guess is when Peter was giving his forecast, and the words 'April Fools' were heard. And, given that the weather map said 'Wednesday' on it when he said that, that's what gave the date of Mar. 31, 1992 away.
Plus, 3/31/92 was on a Tuesday.
    =)
