My 1973 C10 found a new exciting way to break itself. While it was on the lift I decided to address a few more of its issues.

I did my drivers seat and it made the truck seem almost new! Great investment. While out, I dynamited under the seat and on the back wall below the window. The truck was much quieter. Then I had to fix the vent window whistle, and the rattling parking brake mechanism, and the low on oil gearbox.. Now its very quiet. Didn't bother with the dash.. The cracks are patina generators. Thanks for these videos. Yes, fuel injection does suck

As a dodge owner I can totally understand your fear of now possibly bursting into flames lol.

I use those same Mopar perches all the time, I don't know how they're always that cheap but they've been $12 for like 15 years 👍

My 1990 K1500 long bed 5spd v6 got totaled a few weeks ago by someone who rear ended me on the highway. Broke the axle u bolts on the left leaf spring, shoved the left side of my axle forward, which made me spin twice and slide into a retaining wall. The whole left side is destroyed. Cab buckled and broke off the frame, bed buckled and broke off the frame, and the front clip buckled to the right. Entire body is shot. Glass is still good, interior is still good, and the radiator, engine, and trans aren't leaking anything. I think the drivetrain is still good. I had aftermarket wheels on it and the driver side wheels are split and bent. Passenger side is still good. I still have the original 4x4 chevy wheels in good condition. I'm buying another 1990, this time a c1500 short bed automatic V8. It's in mint condition and is the same color scheme as my old truck. I don't know what to do with the old truck now, other than for a parts truck for the new one. If I can find a good rolling donor shell, I could repaint it, swap my old truck's parts and rebuild it. I really want to. I put new 4 wheel discs on the old truck, lines, master and booster. The rotors are for 6 lug, so I don't think I can swap them to the new truck, unless they have extra holes for a 5 lug pattern. Otherwise I could swap 4 wheel discs to the new truck. I also put in a new gas tank and lines in the old truck. I went with a short bed tank because they were cheaper and I never filled up the old truck. So at least I can save the gas tank I bought to one day put it in the new truck.
I thought about making a video series on it. Not very special or unique, but it would be nice just for me to have the process documented. My channel (Nocturnal Cadence) is about motorcycles and bicycles, so I might just do it on this one (my personal account).
I could convert the short bed c1500 v8 into a 5spd with 4 wheel discs, I have the steering column and pedals. Not sure if the New Venture 5spd will be strong enough behind a V8, but if so, I could swap it in. I would then just have to cut a hole in the floor.
Rare truck, I hurts to think about, but I want to do something with the good parts. I will definitely swap out the bench seat when I get the new truck with my old one, because the new one is in perfect shape and I want to keep it nice. I'll store it and the other interior parts from the old truck in the house until I decide what to do.
Not sure why I wrote all that, but it feels good to tell someone who might empathize with me. I like the older Silverados too, and I have 1977 z28, but that 1990 silverado was the best $5000 I ever spent. Such a good reliable truck and it died saving my life. That's why I want another one.

This came up the exact day I decided to start looking for lowering stuff for my 73! I found the perches on Prime for $12 shipped and I'll just cut the front springs, done deal.

Alot of off-road sites/companies carry really quality spring perches for flip kits lowering and all sorts of stuff

I feel your pain on the pedal position. Being 6’6", I hated having to drive the older Econoline vans for that same reason, which was made worse with the dumb bulkhead limiting how far back the seat could move.
That’s a pretty nice looking truck for being beat up in its previous life.

I do love your nonchalant style of videos. Always amusing 😊 I'm kinda not surpised the flip kit caused the original leaf spring perches to fail. Those perches just weren't designed to be used in that fashion. All the load was placed in the welds instead of into the axle tube.
Weird finding on the front suspension. That RHD side must be quite nicely tweaked if it took half a coil to level it out.

You can see on the drinker side the original perch was cracked (see rust) for a while before it gave out.
