  • This project took place in Rochester, MN and was built from what was close to a blank canvas. We removed a small rock fire pit and from there, built this patio and seat wall with the fire pit in the center. We went with more of a red color to match with the deck which accented the home well.

      CHRIS KARSSEBOOM lmfao. Most columns are attached if using the same materials. I realize the sand you use as you base! Lmfao!!!!! I would never hire you to do a patio for me bc someone else will be repairing very soon!

    • @edithflood631
      @edithflood631 Před 2 lety

      @@brianbergman2179 @ CHRIS KARSSEBOOM Could you use wire brick ties, if the blocks didn't fit well into the bricks for the columns? Or even some kind of rebar joinery or plate joining method? Or maybe even use a cut-off saw as you build, to "make" a hole in the pillars for the wall blocks to fit into the wall. Not as good as building together but better than just two free standing structures? Genuine question.
      Also, I don't know what type of soil you have there, but here in Australia, old-school bricklayers would always put in a deep concrete foundation with some reinforcing, even for a little wall and pillars like that. Nowadays, "bricklayers" or what passes for them, just do it like in the video.
