    It actually makes the performances more fascinating because they have to memorize these hand gestures to get the right response.

      VRChat has a surprisingly similar system for effects/facial expressions etc. It's crazy how fast everyone adapts to it.
      For example each hand has; thumbs-up / rock&roll / point / fist / open-hand / neutral / finger-gun, each making your character do a different expression/effect.
      You can do a lot with those 14 different gestures, and can combine them (Like how you combine Ctrl+C) for even more, and it becomes like a second language or keyboard once you're forced to use/do it for long enough.

      How is that hard, remember 30 hand gestures??? Is the bar for hard work so low nowadays? Have you ever done roofing in august? That is a hard work, very hard labour. Walking around the disney park and gesturing to kids is NOT hard work for Gods sake stop it. Its insulting to people who have hard jobs. I thought so... because some things I've heard them say in videos seemed a little too specific (in response) to what was said to them that would seem odd to be a pre-recorded audio clip.

      Partially agree because it would be nice that they would be able to have more flexibility with what is said but then they would be more main characters and would steal attention from the person they escort LT/Kylo.

  • @CAT-wg3dx
    @CAT-wg3dx Před 6 měsíci +2

    Some people have been theorizing the absence of a voice changer inside the helmet is to keep them from going off-script. This makes no sense to me, because what would keep a face character from going off script? I think there should be a mechanism in place for stormtroopers to have personable interactions with guests. In my opinion, it’s awkward when you meet a character that can’t communicate back.

    • @blackcat8104
      @blackcat8104 Před 6 měsíci

      I think they should have both.
      They can use the pre-recorded stuff for most interactions, but actually speak to people in more individual interactions, so they can genuinely react to what someone says to them. If that makes sense. I know I'm not describing it that well. Lol

    Never noticed this in the original trilogy. My guess is it is probably more modern star wars where they had the actors use more hand gestures due to the helmets covering the facial expression. A lot of directors struggle with masks/helmets for this reason. Chances are some star wars fan fiction (I think they call it extended universe now?) noticed it and decided to write a backstory based on how soldiers in the real world use hand gestures for clear communication when audio isn't an option.
