My bf passed away this past October. He loved this song from the time we watched the movie. He would play it over and over. I never paid much attention. I just now listened and saw the lyrics and my heart is breaking all over again. I can only imagine why a song like this would touch a man so. I didn't realize the pain in his heart. I knew he had some issues but we never got to explore them or try and heal. I had no idea...

The way she screams with such sadness, with such grief, anger and helplessness; the line alone hits dangerous and painfully close home.
the emotion she puts into the song is just....stunning.

She had a whole panic attack during the song and still killed it, i think it was a unanimous decision to give her the Oscar myself personally
This song gave me goose bumps when I first heard it. The raw emotion in her voice, in this entire scene in general, felt so real and I honestly ached for her. When she practically screamed out the words, "I had a dream my life would be so much different from this hell I'm living" it just gave me chills.

To me, this is the most realistic version of this song. If you hear the emotion put into how this is sung vs the actress in the stage musical… this version hits deeper in my opinion.
