I loved and was impressed with her when I first saw in one of the lower rounds of the French open back in 2020. I thought she could go far. One key for her will be if she can keep her health and not get injured like some of the other promising young girls like Bianca Andreescu. She has impressed me as being physically tough and physically in good shape. The other key for her is mental. Since she has interests outside of the tennis the question is whether she is willing to make sacrifices for tennis for the long term or whether she will want to pursue her other interests and retire early. A clue is that she thinks a lot like Barty. Either way enjoy her while she lasts. She is a pleasure to watch.

I watched her replays. She has unique spin like Nadal that is uncommon in WTA. After she change her coach , her ball drops faster now and she become more aggressive.
She is fast, has good defense, and able to change direction, not really strong, has great variety too. But, her spin makes her game special because it can confuse alot of players
The type of players that can bother her is strong flat hitters whose strokes can make people unbalanced, like Ostapenko and Ludmilla. These types of players are rare in WTA and their performance are unstable too

I love Iga, soon she will have a fierce competition, Petra Marčinko, Coco Gauff, Linda Fruhritova and maybe Antonija Ružić. All of this teenagers soon will be on top of tennis world.
Actually, I hope they will be healthy and without injuryes.

If she does win the U.S. Open, I hope it won't go to her head because everyone will make her feel like she's on top of the world. Many U.S. Open winners went to all the invites and coronations and never went anywhere after that. She should say no and say, "it's just another tournament of many I will win in my career" and move on to the next tournament.

Someone should ask Fibak's opinion of Iga as well

Physically, she is built real well for the game and she has a nicely shaped mouth if anybody notices which is a plus.
She opens the racket face on her service motion but times the release of the racket face perfectly upon contact with the ball and what a great, repeatable service it is.
I don't think its quite possible to put into words why she wins so much. When she burst on the scene, everybody saw her game and said...what?
I believe she does most things better than her opponents. She is just better. I do agree with Prasun below that she takes time away from her opponents by hitting the ball early, shades of Agassi. Incredible timing. She is very, very good. We will see in the next couple of years if she steps up to the mantle of greatness. I believe Serena in her prime was better. Serena had a consistent 120mph serve and hit a heavy top spin ball like Nadal and had foot speed to match Iga. Iga will not be the greatest of all time in my opinion. Serena had freaky genetics and will and btw, I do no like the way she handled herself on court in the least but her sharking tactics of screaming, her monster serve and heavy ball were too much for most of her opponents.

Re “Serena has freaky genetics” - similar to Venus - both males originally, hormonally altered - to clean out the female tennis prize money.
