Thanks Ian (I envy your students) -- I'm trying to attain a Pilot's Licence. Unfortunately I ignored Math through all of my school days. Now I'm playing catch-up. But Thanks to You I'm using the info in this video to calculate and convert Time, Distance, Speed problems as well as calculating and converting Fuel Burn figures for Cross Country flight. Thanks again.
Thank you very much. I am taking Geography this semester online and my professor did not explain clearly what we are supposed to do and I kept getting my answers wrong. I was going to go to a tutor on campus. I am so happy that I found you! You are a life saver and I hope that you are still doing what you love to do.
Simple way to convert Decimal Time into Normal Time is as follows: 15 Min. Take 15 divide into 60 Minutes, that will then Read 0.25 of an hour which is 1/4 of an Hour
Thought you would talk about decimal time (french timeformat which devides the day into 10 hours which contain 100 minutes which contain 1000 Seconds) and the conversion to normal time :/
It's time to use a decimal time. France started with decimal time, C10 system improved it, UDAT system improved it even more. PM me if you want to know more
Then how do u convert it back to a time value ? U can try reversing the equation like for example 3:8 hours u need to multiply 0.8 with 60 to get 03:48 again and it gets more goofier in converting the mitues for example 812.5 min 812 is the minute which means u gotta divide it by 60 which you will get like 13.53333 0.5 multiplied by 60 is 30 minutes So if you would just ignore the 0.5333, 812.5 is approximately 13:30 but how do u get the exact answer ?
is there a difference between doing seconds and minutes? You just divide the number by 60? But then wouldn't the answer for 6hr 5s and 6hr 5min come out the same?
Oh i get it. Since there are 60 seconds in a minute and 60 min in an hour, you CAN divide both by 60, what changes is the label (min/sec) aha! Now I just need to continue watching to learn to convert an example that has hours minutes AND seconds!
@@ianbaileymortimer I get that it's a unit conversion. And I get that this method gets the correct answers. But I just don't understand why multiplying by the denominator (60) does it. I hope my writing makes sense
because it’s 60 seconds in one minutes and 60 minutes in one hour and that’s why i think it’s gives that answers 4years later i hope you figured it out 😅😂
I was relieved and confidence that my answer its correct. But suddenly. It isn't. Because in proportion. It use time for a outcome of something. I thought its just converting like e.g = 5.15 . Welp thankyou I want to get 100
Our school needs this teacher.
I had so much trouble understanding this concept at first but, after I saw this video it became crystal clear. Great video!👍👍👍
Your explanation was great, sent to my supervisors as we try to all get on board with a new payroll time keeping system. Thank you!
I can't thank you enough for the tutorial! I watched a lot of videos and no one explains it clearly as you do. Much appreciated :)

It took a moment before finding this tutorial to help me with filling out a time sheet. Now I can fill it out correctly. Thanks Mr. Mortimer!
Thank you so much.... Sir love from India🇮🇳🇮🇳
thanks, teacher-bro. you're a gentleman and the incontrovertible concomitant of such.

THANK YOU IAN!
Nice video
Thanks so much!!!!!👍👍👍I understand now☺️☺️☺️☺️
Better we all use the Dozenal-System. Base 12 is superior in every way.
Thank you, teacher! I got it!
So good sir thank you🙏
thank you so much, I finally understand
Thanks. Helpful.

isn't 3 divided by 60 = 0.05? not 0.5?
Very helpful. Thank you.

OHH u dont need a label because it's a decimal representing hours + min/sec? But then what is the HOUR out of? 24 hour day?
Thank youuuu !!! :)
Thanks for the explanation. If someone can just explain why multiplying by 60 gives the answer. Can anyone explain why it gets the correct answer?
