    Hey ya'll! In this video I am going through sessions 5 & 6 of #EMDR -- If you want to know the reason I even started this journey in the first place make sure to catch up in the EMDR PLAYLIST linked below. To be honest the 5th session was ROUGH! Like I seriously dreaded going. My #ANXIETY got the best of me and I almost gave up (You'll see what I mean). But to be honest after I did I no longer had the anxiety to go in and #RELIVETHETRAUMA again in the 6th session! I'm just thankful that I have my family & friends helping me have the courage to do this. It is NOT an easy process but a necessary one. Again from the bottom of my heart I want to thank those of you that take the time to watch these and support me. I hope that I can help / inspire anyone that is thinking about going to counseling or doing #EMDRTHERAPY, so far it has been a game changer in my mental health!

    I just found your channel and I know these videos are old, but I wanted to say thank you for posting them! 💕💕💕💕That alone is INCREDIBLEY brave 👏💫!!!
    I’ve been seeing a therapist for about six months and I went to him wanting EMDR, I had been seeing one before him about six times and we also were doing “EMDR”, but all she was having me do was wear the headphones and hold the little tappers and think about something traumatic for 15 minutes. And then she would briefly ask me what came up, And sometimes do a little visualization of it going differently, that was it. I don’t know that that would’ve been helpful had I continued with her.
    My new one I’ve done A couple of sessions of EMDR but not consistently and I haven’t felt like there’s any structure… so that was why I started searching for videos like yours, because I wanted to see what normally people did in a linear way. Your playlist has been perfect for answering those questions and I’m going to talk to him about why we’ve just done it at random.
    Also the safe space and phrase isn’t something I’ve done and I think that would be extremely helpful, because I had some pretty intense feelings come up in the last session and felt REALLY hopeless and depressed afterwards and haven’t had any guidance for what to do with that. If he doesn’t do the safe space exercise with me I’m going to just do it on my own because it sounds like that is important. I basically really wanted to see what happens with people who do it, whether it works long-term, and how they deal with what they feel like in between sessions.
    So thank you so much for answering all of that and being so raw and authentic and what you shared! Putting that out there for the world shows that you are extremely strong! 💪💪💪 i’ve watched many videos and this playlist has been the most helpful of any of them ❤️

    EMDR is a God send....dont complicate it...It is really about releasing those stuck feelings...let them up and out. Sometimes its easier to do it at home by your self on line....you must allow feeling to be felt and leave....That is really what its all about!!

    Im proud of you for punching anxiety and fear in the mouth and facing past traumas in order to heal and restore what was broken. Praying for you!

    Thank you so much for allowing yourself to be real. I'm in the middle of emdr myself and it DOES SUCK. ..bad. I am so impressed that you can even drive after that...I am thankful to have my husband drive me. You are so brave...this is really hard. Be gentle with yourself.

    EMDR reminded me of when I had food poisioning. When I finally threw it up, I felt ok. But the following day I felt so much better!!!

    I call it "diggin up bones" I hope you know that you should be proud of yourself for having the courage to face your trauma.. my therapist is getting trained in EMDR now, and will be trying this therapy...honestly I'm not looking forward to it...at all...not even a little bit...I can feel the anxiety from here...so thank you for being so courageous and beautiful...

    I have dealt with anxiety for a long time so I totally understand. What has helped me a lot is living my life slow and simple. I'm trying to make calming videos for people who struggle with anxiety like myself. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing::)

    Thank you for these videos! I am doing emdr for negative cognitions that I didn't even realize I had. So far we have identified a touchstone memory, a negative cognition, and a safe place. This week we'll start processing and I'm pretty nervous. Even identifying a touchstone memory made me nervous because I did not want to go back to those memories. Again, thanks for sharing!

    I just started too. It does suck, but I’m proud of us. If you need someone to talk to about it, I’m here. I don’t understand exactly your feelings because everyone is different, but I do know how EMDR is. Hang in there.

    I love watching these EMDR videos. I'm about to start that therapy soon and this helps me know how the process may go. I wish you made videos still, so I could hear an update. I enjoy hearing your perspective on things. PS: You remind me of Shailene Woodley the actress. :)

    YOU DONT HAVE TO REMEMBER EACH EVENT!!!!!!!!!!! JUST FOLLOW YOUR FEELINGS...you may not remember each incident as there may be many similar events, like in a toxic home environment!!!

      I don't think that's true, maybe at first it starts with a feeling but I'm in therapy now and we are getting ready to do EMDR and I asked and my therapist was very adamant on how the event has to be specific and I need to remember around what age is happened. They said if it's not specific it won't work.

      ​@@jclyntoledo Not all EMDR therapists work that way. Some go off of a feeling, or a trigger. For example if you recently were triggered by someone criticizing you, they would ask to to remember how you felt in that moment, what thoughts were coming to mind, where you were carrying tension in your body etc. And then work to desensitize you to that trigger essentially. People also have used EMDR to recover from early childhood trauma or trauma in infancy that they don't remember.

    You are SO brave!! 😢 I am currently going through the exact same thing. I had my sixth session yesterday. We are STILL on containment. I have terrible dissociative episodes. Last week I went to go pick up my medicine and the pharmacist said someone had picked it up days ago. I asked him to look and see who picked it up, and it was me. Somehow I left my home and left the medicine somewhere, I still have no idea. The pharmacist showed me a picture of myself picking up the medication and my face was totally blank like a robot. Did EMDR make you dissociate more? This is so scary.

      At first I would say the first few sessions I did dissociate a lot more. But after that I learned grounding techniques that truly helped me! I dissociated for years before emdr and I really think you should mention grounding techniques to your therapist and see what can help you come back “to reality” so to speak. Also having people in your life that you feel comfortable with telling your grounding techniques so they can help you in day-to-day life come out of those episodes ❤️ proud of you! We are strong!

    I’ve been doing EMDR for 5 sessions now. I have a hard time letting go of my mind. I have such a lock on the door I can seem to get the memories unstuck or move past them..

    Careful, you might be a victim of narcissistic abuse. Also try a CZcams vid on hypnotizing. Worked for me. I've also done EMDR. But, you my be cPTSD.

    My therapist wants me to do emdr for multiple childhood events .. do you think good idea now with binge eating issues, can't hold a job instability, triggers I have issues controlling , etc or should I try to become more stable first or get to root of issue first? Thank you!

      jessica w I think EMDR can help with all of the above! I would give it a try. Just make sure you find a therapist that specializes in EMDR and the specific issues you’ve stated ❤️ I hope you can find peace in your journey!

    The EMDR therapist has to know what you can handle. There shouldn’t be any emotional carry over.

    EMDR therapy can be so difficult and hard. How has your spouse been able to help you after your sessions? I’m having a hard time explaining this to my spouse and how hard it is.

      Honestly when I was undergoing them he couldn’t understand (we are no longer together, not because of this or anything) but he had met my counselor / therapist who tried to explain it to him in a way he could relate to
