    10:29 My final thoughts
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dr. Kiran Morjaria is a GP trainee in the UK. Since I'm very interested in GP practice and that is probably the residency I'll be choosing, his video about his income caught my interest.
Dr. Kiran works for the UK's National Health Service(NHS) which is funded by the taxpayer through the Govt. To make it less complicated, let's just say it's funded and controlled by the UK Govt. Since 1948, most hospitals in the UK are NHS funded and healthcare is either free or heavily subsidized for all UK citizens (and also special category of people like healthcare workers). Private hospitals are very few in number and tend to be quite expensive and hence out of reach for most of the common folk.
NHS salaries are based on grades. Since Dr. Kiran is a first-year specialist trainee, he gets the grade pay of ST1, which is around £38,700 basic pay plus extras and it increases almost every year as he advances in his training.
In very stark contrast, doctors in training(residency) in India are paid peanuts. We do get a "salary" of around Rs.4 lakh per year which is around £4000 per year, but most places have an "Academic fee" of at least 4 to 5 lakhs per year, sometimes up to 50 lakhs or £50,000 a year. So, if you are a junior doctor in training in India, you not only make no money, you will even have to dig up money from your own pockets! And imagine doing this for 3 to 6 years!
Such nice financial independence in our late 20s and early 30s when our friends are getting married, buying homes and settling down!
Don't get me wrong, we do get a decent salary AFTER training, but why we have to be penniless/in debt when we are in training and working hundred plus hours per week in the hospital is beyond me.
Anyways, I hope you guys like this video, make sure you check out ‪@Kiran.Morjaria‬ . He has a cool channel!
    Have a great day!

Bruh this comment section is full of people who pity on indians who pursue doctor as career in india. As if an average indian is making millions and hesitant to pay when they visit a doctor. Candidates who doesn't score enough marks in NEET to get a government aided medical seat have to pay a lot money as donation to college to get a seat. Medical degree is an expensive degree when compared to any other degree in india. And why would they pay a truck load of money to be a doctor to get paid nothing?. Once a doctor get to a certain level there is no other day job that pays like a doctor. Unless that person is a corrupt government employee or a business man they cannot make that kind of money. I live in a city ,from my childhood i visit two different clinic's near my house when i need theirs help. And both the doctor's children are doctors as well. Now think why would a doctor in india would pay close to 1 core rupees for management seat in medical college for their children to be doctor if the pay is dog crap?. If you want a young doctor in india to be paid over 200,000$ per year then indian standard of living must be increased first. If you compare any profession then pay in india with western countries the pay will be less only indian standard of living is cheap. There a people who work 8/day and make less than 100$ a month in India.

You can return back to India whenever you want and Doctors with MRCS degree and MCH(And some ST3 experience from EU) get paid very well in corporate hospitals(50L+ per year). Only downside is you have to get a good rank in NEET PG and pick up a good MD/MS/DNB seat(And NEET is definitely tougher than PLAB, if not tougher definitely more competitive)

India: Where your admission into a medical school is decided heavily from which caste you are from but not your education.
Where everyone expects you to practice your profession either free of cost or at very cheap rates.
Where you get thrashed and lynched because you were unable to save a 90year old guy that took his last breath.
Where you do unspeakable things as an intern just to graduate.
And after all that you still have to prepare for your speciality and endure even more tougher path.

People of India are tired of doctor's arrogance, greed, cuts & commission, unwanted tests that they prescribe, misdiagnosis, turning deaf ear to poors pandering to riches , Nepotism, and so many things.
The one thing I'd recommend indian doctors, especially the giants in thier field, BE HUMBLE.

We don’t even get paid extra for festivals also 😂 I remember I had to work on Diwali day too and at night I came home to celebrate😅😅. No extra pay for night shifts also in India 🤦🏻‍♀️
