Something that Mili does that always makes blind song reactions so fun, is that while each song (at least those written for LoR and Limbus) is written with their coresponding characters in mind, yet without any knowledge of those characters or their stories, the songs can be interpreted in totally different, yet valid ways. Seeing your reactions has been a blast!

Everyone keeps saying "korean poet," but to be specific Salt, Pepper, Birds, and the Thought Police is about Yun Dong-ju.
The tagline of Ruina "Book, Librarian, City, Star" is a direct homage to his poem "Sky, Wind, Star and Poem." PM's games can be very VERY Korean at times, and as a non-Korean, I've definitely had to do quite a bit of research to understand what I can lmao

    • @Trailblazer_Ririna

Ahhh, so that's the person's name. I don't think anyone else has said his name earlier, so thank you for letting me know the actual name of the poet! Your interpretation of Gone Angels is pretty accurate, the song plays like a "Call and Response". You would be correct that it is indeed directed towards Angela, but also the character that revolves around the song. Angela is a pretty grey-area or flawed character along with the other main character, but that's what makes her so human down to her core.
Library of Ruina does a really good job on telling the story of two broken individuals facing their faults and overcoming them to become better people!

    • @Trailblazer_Ririna
      @Trailblazer_Ririna  Před 5 měsíci +2

I really really love grey characters! Sure, they might annoy me sometimes, but doesn't that make them more human? After all, we can't like every single person that we meet. So all that just makes me appreciate the characters and the storytelling that much more! Gosh, I can't wait to learn more about Angela and the MC! Especially since they're both broken and will be maturing/developing as characters throughout the story to become better people!

Lascia ch'io pianga: allow me to cry
Mia cruda sorte: My cruel fate

    La libertà: The freedom
(These are translated from Italian using Google translate and also browsing websites for the meaning so it might not be 100%)

One of the things that's really great about the boss themes is how cohesive they are with the narrative. In that they work standalone but playing the game adds another layer since they're from the perspective of a character we've been introduced to, seen some of the life of, and are about how miserable they are in the moment 😅

So iron lotus is actually pretty sad. It’s down right depressing if you learned the story. Her story is surprisingly human and shows that humans in the city are still human in all aspects despite what everybody else in the game tells you. In fact you’ll see it even in Roland’s story and how his early game self and what he tells Angela about how to survive is sort of hypocritical.

The Chinese words in Iron Lotus ending certain parts of the song are all confections, which all mean something in China.
huameitang 话梅糖 plum candy. Can be interpreted as saying "I had something to say to you, but I couldn't bring myself to."
white rabbit naitang 大白兔奶糖 white rabbit milk candy. It's usually given to others as a confession of feelings, as if saying "I love you".

So lil something about every song (a lot less than before cause it's much later in the game)
Iron Lotus: "I AM FIIIIIRE" sums up the fight pretty much (boss is someone who lost a very special person to the library. Song is her singing about herself and that person)
Gone Angels: pianos are... scary (not gonna say a word about the boss, cause it's probably one of the best bosses imo, but song is sung from the perspective of 1 of the protagonist, or both, I'm not sure which, you'llhave to figure out when you reach)
Poems of a machine: credits song, not much I can say about it in a vague way with spoiling anything in it
Salt, Pepper, Birds and the thought police: you've probably already been told, but it's not in the game. So really can't say much more other than it's a Mili song, so it's good XD
Also, hope you'll have fun with Ruina when you play. I just finished the game before watching this and can say it's hard. But very much worth playing through to experience the story. Or just watch story if it's too hard, cause it can get pretty hard sometimes lol

so... I've seen a few things in the comments and I want to write about that (plus my own thoughts as usual)
When people talk about Angela, you can almost always interchange that with "The Library" because as the director of the place she is held acountable of everything that happens there... the same principle as why if a pirate ship canonballs you, you blame the captain, not the ship itself
funny you mention Fahrenheit 451... let me direct your atention to the name of one of the achievements: Alexandria Simulator
(not a story relevant achievement, so I think is fine to tell the name :3 )
even though Salt, Pepper, Birds, and the Thought Police is first and foremost about Yoon Dong-joo's life and death, it is worth to say that true to Mili stacking meanings on their lyrics, the entire song is also a big ol' metaphor about the life in The City
This could be a bit spoilery... but I think is fine... "to kill a living book", the name of the album is something you could pay a bit more attention, once you play the game it will be obvious tho... that recontextuallizes some passages of the lyrics
there is a small story lost to the internet that takes place between Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina... let's call it "the incident in District 9" as that is the only way I can tell you it IS important, without giving much. keep it in mind for the future your homework is to read it eventually, you could go ahead an check it before the Ruina stream, but honestly, I think it would be best to do it after finishing LobCorp....
why? because if you read it now, you WILL understand some things way ahead of the time you should... better to wait 'till you forget most of the things you already know... that is why I'm not even giving the true title of the short story
I'll remind you of this the day you either 100% lobcorp or give up on it (I pray for the former :3)
    have fun overthinking now XD

I will mostly be withholding my opinion on her until I finish both Lobotomy and Library, but for the most part, even if people say something about her in the comments, I just... don't understand what they're saying, due to lack of knowledge. So I guess I'll have to wait. haha

Oh, Iron Lotus isn't directed at Angela... Why would it be. She only met her for a moment and certainly doesn't care about Angela.

Been a while since I heard the story so take it with a grain of salt. As I recall, _Salt, Pepper, Birds, and the Thought Police_ isn't actually about or included in Library of Ruina. It's an original song from Mili about a real Korean poet who's works are referenced across either Mili or Project Moon's other work. The song is about the true story of how he was taken from his home during a military occupation and later died in a detention camp. It was included in the Library of Ruina album as a sort of bonus track given the subject's relevance to the album. Someone correct me if that's inaccurate.

That makes me so sad to learn about the poet's life, especially since it's reflected in that song. Surprisingly or maybe not surprisingly, I actually like that song the most (and it's the one I actually listen to on repeat)!

I do believe 'Fahrenheit 451' is correct with the whole 'burning books' line, which has an even deeper meaning in the game's context. There are many literature references in the game, naturally, and you'll see notions of various works if you're familiar with them throughout the game, like 'Clockwork Orange'.
Instruments also have a significant symbolism as well, so it's quite interesting that you enjoy hearing the 'piano' in these tracks. 'Poems of a Machine' is probably my favorite from the game, it's really hard picking a favorite amongst theme.
Considering how well you've done so far with Lobotomy Corporation, you should be able to have a better handle on Library of Ruina as it's a much more story focused game as opposed to the heavily, mechanically driven challenge the first game is. It's also turn based, so there's pretty much no time pressure involved either, so I really hope you get to enjoy truly experiencing these tracks and their context while playing.

Ahhh, so it is right! Makes me look forward to when I play Library of Ruina~ And learning what the instruments symbolize too!
I'm actually quite excited for the gameplay side for this game since I heard that it's similar to Limbus Company gameplay, which I already enjoy.
