Here's the best of our favourite set of nemesis, Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) vs. literal ninth grader Kaylie Hooper (Chloe Grace Moretz).
30 Rock revolves around the cast and crew of the fictional sketch comedy series TGS with Tracy Jordan, which is filmed in Studio 6H inside 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The series stars Tina Fey as Liz Lemon, the hapless head writer of The Girly Show, alongside Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy, Liz's long-suffering mentor. The series also stars Tracy Morgan as Tracy Jordan, Jane Krakowski as Jenna Maroney and Jack McBrayer as Kenneth Parcell.

@@ivonnenieto8217 Brendan is referring to Jack's backstory. In s5e2 he says he won a Handsomeness Scholarship to Princeton. Then in s5e8, says Princeton had him record every word from the English Language to "... preserve the perfect American accent in case of nuclear war." 😆

It's great, and the same reason Extras on the BBC worked so well. Patrick Stewart as an insufferable pervert is AMAZING.

The genius and sheer absurdity of these lines would never work if not fore the impeccable delivery and commitment given by this awesome cast and its list of bonkers cameos.

I find she’s kinda slipping now. Maybe she got tired of doing serious stuff? I liked her acting better back then more than her two most recent. Her looks also seem to have changed, and not in a healthy way.

She was good in that, but watch the original Swedish film it was a remake of, that girl was incredible.

I once met Chloe Grace when I was working at a movie theater. She called the theater cos she left her ID there, her caller ID even said “Chloe Grace”. When she came in to collect her ID later, she was the nicest, normal, unassuming person. I adored her in 30 Rock, but meeting her for real and how down to earth she is makes me admire her anymore.
Kaylie Hooper and Devin Banks were the funniest recurring characters. Loved how they ended up in the same episode in the final season.
She was so good on this show... She and Banks were both worthy adversaries for Jack.
They were ridiculous but also distortions of Jack Himself; this is why he would recognize that shark energy from them and spend so much trying to thwart them 😂. He has a line on the show where he says every time he meets someone new, first thing, he imagines how he’s going to fight them.

Kaylie was Jack’s best nemesis …. though Devon Banks was also hilarious
Kaylie was the better challenge. there is just something so great about an adult whose nemesis is a teenager.
Kaylie was the antithesis of Jack because Jack had to work for his laurels and Kaylie was going to rob all that hard work just because she’s a heir. Also Jack has some internalized misogyny so a woman was not going to get his job especially since even a “feminine” copy of him like Devon Banks failed.
Alec Baldwin is golden in this show. Not discounting the people hurt, I’m sad for his troubles.

This show basically invented the dense comedy genre, where while you're laughing at the last joke 2-3 more go by, and you've got to constantly rewind if you want to catch all of them

@@jim2lane I get the feeling you're intentionally leaving out visual gags in your definition of 'jokes', or else you just haven't seen Airplane! in a long time. What you call the 'dense comedy' genre is already called Rapid-Fire, or Shotgun comedy and it has been around for a very long time.
Airplane!... Hot Shots!... fucking Clue, even, might be the Gold Standards, but it's existed long before even the Marx Brothers and Abbot & Costello.
30 Rock itself (while excellent) isn't exactly unique either. Thematically, it's one example of what's called a Screwball Comedy. What's more, it's basically a modern take on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
The show is genius, no doubt. But it's not much more than a self-aware lampoon.

Nevertheless, I find the delivery on 3R unique, compared to most. There is a punchline, and then an immediate follow-up that's often funnier than the original punchline. Haven't really seen it quite the same on TV, though now that you mention it, it is reminiscent of the Marx Brothers 🙂
