The sad thing is that the fact that Dan's character took this dark turn could have been very interesting indeed and could have elevated his storyline and derena's storyline as well. But they waited so long to go there that the transition between the ''lonely boy in love with the dream girl'' persona to the ''bitter, disappointed man holding nothing back in his quest to show upper east side for what it really is and does to people'' persona was incredibly rocky and unrealistic. One minute he was head over hills with Serena, to the point where most of his life and work as a writer revolved around her, and the next he was trashing her like there was no tomorrow.
I agree with you that the idea is good but the execution very bad but we can give the credit to actors in this scene that sold it very well. Dan look like a total different man and so does Serena.
I think it made sense how it went. Dan was in love with blair in his first book blair was his muse. He only wrote good things about blair and described serena as this selfish, self centered girl who got everything she wanted. After Blair choosing Chuck and Serena manipulating him into cheating om Blair. Serena just proved once again that she only thought about herself. I think this is when here really started to dislike Serena and feel inferior since Blair chose Chuck over him even tho he treated Blair like a Princess and Chuck was abusive to her.
she should have never taken him back. would have been so much better if he got the wealth and career as a writer he always wanted while losing his close friends and family.
Honestly y'all kinda jealous for Dan being smart and getting what he wanted at the end of the show, he didn't wanna be an outsider, he wanted power and after everything, he got power. I mean sure most of these gossips were pretty ruthless but that was what it needed to take for a journey to the top, so in my opinion, I don't hate Dan I just think he played his cards perfectly and reached his destiny...
It pisses me off the show waits until the last few episodes to do something about Dan and Serena. They should have gotten back together in season 4 wtf. *I LOVE THE WAY DAN TURNED OUT TOWARDS THE END HE STOOD UP TO THOSE STUCK UP RICH BITCHES AND MADE THEM FEAR HIM*
@@kimochiiioniichan3613 Yeah no. Blair and Chuck aren't trying to be better people. Especially not Blair. And if you can forgive Chuck for trying to rape girls, selling his girlfriend for a hotel, manipulating her. Then you can forgive Dan for getting sick of their shit and trying to expose them. But you can't because the truth is that viewers like you don't care who id objectively better. You clearly have double standards for the characters. Other characters can hurt each other greatly, but Dan can never fall out of line. So you'll forgive a rapist, and a bully, but not a regular guy who's sick of that shit.
To be honest, Dan burned his bridges when he published personal exposés on his friends. How can you trust someone when they’re constantly writing about your life? How can you ever be yourself with them? Not to mention moonlighting as gossip girl, which is unforgivable in its own right. It would’ve been more fitting to have Dan, who started out with scruples and professional integrity, slowly erode away those values in favor of success on the upper east side. It’s telling that he refers to Serena as a golden shell who’s only filled by love & attention. He starts showing his true colors when he switches to Blair because she’s the new it-girl. The new Serena. He starts resenting his dad for being a poor, has-been musician, and starts mocking him over losing Lily. I just don’t buy that Dan could ever win back his friends so easily. The show’s ending should’ve been the inverse of his book, Insider, where the cost of success is often ending up alone. He made his choice, and Serena forgiving him only proves his theory correct. That in a way, she really is an empty vessel with daddy issues, constantly seeking validation through love.
As if she is an angel, was on drugs, cheated, betrayed and slept with almost everyone and was pathetic. At least, Dan was trying to show them all the mirror.
Eesha Raazia I think it goes with dan character development at this point... he bet a lot to ensure Bart would side with him and give him the exposure right? He kind of kept betting more and more...Hoping his story would be a bank! I think it goes with who dan was at this point... not afraid to get what he wanted in life and didn’t stop till he got the girl and lifestyles 👌🏽🥂🙏🏽
Yup, just like how he described her in his chapter. An empty golden shell that's got daddy issues and will fall for anything when pushing the right buttons. Idk if its just me or his face looks like he know exactly what he was doing. I mean, he's been studying her since forever. I bet he knew that she'll be back and i hate that. I wish she had ended up with nate. Who HAS always been there for her through everything. I'm so dissapointed at the ending
I may be in the minority here, I don’t know- but, I would have believed in the authenticity of Dan and Serena’s relationship, had the writers not tried to pair Dan with Blair. I get they had more similar interests, but that doesn’t always make for a great romance. Plus, who can so easily erase years of pining after another person (from both sides)? I guess the writers wanted to do something different and just took a wrong turn.
I think with this GG should of ended with dan realizing he doesn’t want to be in this world he likes the one he came from. It would have a better message. And then Serena could of ended up with Nate ❤️❤️
I’m so disappointed in the writers. They should’ve had Nate and Serena end up together rather than her and Dan. Dan and Serena were so juvenile with each other.

"evil biographer" such an awesome line
Serena looks a lot like Lily in this scene, a younger Lily, I think it’s her bun.
Ikrrr
They made Serena look fierce in this scene. I don't know what sort magic her stylist and makeup artist did, but it's perfection!
she reminds me of lily here
