Yes, anyone can steal an Uchiha's eyes (as long as they are activated), but as it is not of the bloodline, it will consume a lot of chakra and constantly. As for the potential and use of the eye, it varies depending on the individual's competence. Kakashi is so strong and competent that he uses it almost as if he were an Uchiha.

He originally took after his father: "I'll never let my comrades die." Then his father died sacrificing himself to save his comrades at the cost of the mission whereby shame was cast on him and his son. Kakashi switched his ideology to solely focus on mission accomplishment. After Obito sacrificed himself, he returned to his former convictions.

I think Kakashi mentioned Obito in the Sasuke Retrieval Arc. After telling Sasuke all his loved ones died, then we see Kakashi in his apartment and he mentions REN and Obito.

What Obito tells Kakashi about "those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum" is exactly what Kakashi tells Team 7 during the land of waves arc.
Which shows Kakashi's growth as a character and as a ninja. Another similarity that some might not notice is Kakashi's propensity to always arrive late which directly mirrors Obito's same propensity.
It's a lot of the times the little details that can be noted that translates to great storytelling and character work.
Also, most of the times he was late, were because he was at the memorial where Obito was mentioned as a war hero, along the others that perished in the third great ninja war
Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai were having a conversation next to Itachi and Kisame in the tea shop when Obito's name was mentioned.
His name was also mentioned by the female shinobi (don't know her name anymore) who met Kakashi at Obito's grave

Obito was named dropped during the 3rd Hokage's funeral in OG Naruto. Obito's speech about "those who abandon their friends are worse than scum" was told by Kakashi to Team 7 in OG Naruto in like episode 4 or 5.
Minato was one of the only ninja in history to have a “run on sight” order put on him. In short, he was so lethal that to engage in a battle with him was literally suicide. He was HIM

I really dnt understand minato stans obsession with the run on sight like any other top tier shinobi is pale in comparison. Itachi cld have had it but didn’t just bcoz he’s lowkey and his true abilities dnt travel to the other villages. He literally has one of the strongest Mangekyo that is Tsukuyomi. Shisui has the most broken Mangekyo that is Kotoamatsukami, which he can “spam” unlike you know who. Plus his body flicker is in the same bracket as Flying Raijin and other teleportation jutsus, his however, is pure speed and nt teleportation unlike... I love Minato and put him on top tier no problem. But atleast i dnt get defensive and projecting when others said they are alot others that shld have had that status lmao fanboys🤣

@@aidyil Many people CAN do any myriad of things however in everyday life it is typically the people who achieve those things that are revered for it. Minato was the only person in the series with a confirmed Kage based order to flee in any instance that he is on the battlefield. Of course there are many other shinobis that could have that order but typically it is a Shinobi's job to follow their Kage' orders and complete a mission regardless of their own concerns unless their higher up makes a call that they are SURE their village will be okay with.
This is why you have Ao who made the call to flee Shisui - He wasn't criticized and got to live to see another day possibly due to being personally close to the kage, as compared to Sakumo who made a choice call mid battlefield and ended up killing himself because of how he was perceived, and even Kakuzu who merely couldn't complete his mission against Hashirama and was out casted anyway.
Shinobi tend to fight any strength opponent as long as that is what their Kage wants them to do, I'm sure those 10K shinobi didn't want to die to the 3rd Raikage but kept trying to force themselves through him anyway.
It is only in Minato' case that not only can you run, you have immediate permission & the understanding that abandoning this mission is 100% okay by your villages standards. That's pretty big and I'm quite sure that people don't use that feat to imply that others pale in comparison, a conversation about Minato can indeed be just about Minato, without the need for inclusion of other strong people.

Same, other episodes made me tear up a lot, but this one actually got me to cry. This show is too good.
Very small detail but if you look at the frame were Kakashi is crying, its only Obitos eye that has tears.
The reason why Minato had to leave them, and they seem better at fighting despite being the same age as OG Team 7, is probably because they're at war. They don't have enough soldiers that's why they trained children to fight. The children have to run missions on their own because there's not enough soldiers. And technically, with Kakashi as jonin, their 3-kids team DOES have a high ranked military officer to oversee the mission. They fight better because they have no choice but to fight constantly.
In OG Naruto, when it was relatively peaceful, genins (typically children) are only supposed to run D class missions like finding missing cats. They're supposed to hone basic skills, fulfill low-level missions, until they're ready to climb the next mission rank. OG Naruto/Team 7 only stumbled upon the Zabuza A-rank mission because their client lied about the difficulty of the mission. In Kakashi's generation, kids were thrown into the fray much earlier.
32:02 Yes. You can take the eyes of the Uchiha and transplant them to yourself to gain Sharingan. But even in OG Naruto, during Itachi's episode, Itachi explained that you don't get full benefits of the Sharingan if you weren't born an Uchiha. In Kakashi's case, he couldn't evolve Sharingan to gain Mangekyou Sharingan. Somehow in Shippuden, Kakashi did gain Mangekyou, but how it happened is still about to unfold for you guys. And the Sharingan drains Kakashi's chakra way too quickly. That's why even though Kakashi is a genius, supposedly knows thousands of copied jutsus (that we barely see EVER), and a skilled taijutsu fighter, he gets cornered too often once he uses Sharingan and runs out of chakra. Meanwhile, Sasuke can go back to back to back with so many high powered jutsus without seemingly running out of chakra. (Although, the curse mark and whatever training and/or drugs Sasuke had to go through with Orochimaru do play a factor to his current strength).
For clarity, obito is a chunin and I believe Rin is too. So as far as “ranking” they are more equipped to handle this mission than the OG squad

Fun fact: In the beginning we saw Obito coming late to the meeting and Kakashi being mad about him, but after Obito's death Kakashi not only took on his eye but also this trait of being late, almost as if Kakashi wanted Obito to partially keep on living inside him👍

Transplanting the eye does come with it's abilities but as you know Uchiha blood and chakra is really strong and only they can maintain Sharingan effortlessly. So kakashi being non-uchiha has to close the eye and only use it when absolutely necessary and even after that it takes a toll on him if used for long period of time. If kakashi struggles so bad with it- I don't think just some random nobody can even withstand to keep it open for seconds. So there's that perspective too.

Data to add, the flash of the chidori makes it difficult to see the enemy's counterattack, that is why the sharingan perfectly complements this jutsu since it can see the opponent's movements. Another fact, Konoha was the winner of the 3 great wars, in the 1st war the 2nd Hokage, the 3rd Hokage as a young man, Danzo and the advisors Koharu and Homura participated. The 2nd Great War is where the 3 legendary sannin become famous, they lead Konoha to victory. In this 3rd great war, Konoha fought against the 4 great nations and Minato was the ninja who led Konoha to win this last war (as Minato said, there was such a lack of ninjas that they sent the genin fresh out of the academy).

Exactly, the Uchiha were a war specialist clan (they were the most feared before the founding of Konoha), it is no coincidence that while the Uchiha existed, no village dared to attack Konoha, but due to the distrust that the 2nd Hokage had in them The Uchiha after Hashirama's death could only "take care" of the village since they were the military police, the fact that they let some Uchihas participate in the war is a sign that they lacked shinobi, but as I said, Konoha fought against the other 4 great nations and emerged victorious, that is too much.
You've already seen Kakashi use the Mangyeko sharingan. He used it against the akatsuki member with the explosive clay to take one of his arms.

Clarifications: [No Spoilers]
(A lot of people probably already mentioned these but I'm just gonna explain them anyways with more details).
1. The Sharingan can be transplanted into anyone, however there are drawbacks. Anyone who's not an Uchiha can't deactivate a Sharingan at will, this is the very reason why Kakashi keeps it covered to avoid it unnecessarily consuming his chakra from being always active. Also, the chakra cost for using the Sharingan's abilities are higher for non-Uchiha users. This is why Kakashi got hospitalized right after the fight with Deidara. And yes, he used Mangekyou Sharingan on that one. As to how it evolved, it's gonna be revealed later on.
2. Kakashi earned the title "Copy Ninja" because of the Sharingan. Remember that the Sharingan can clearly see movements and therefore allow a user to mimic them, and so Kakashi made use of this feature which eventually led to his moniker.
3. The Chidori is a very risky jutsu because of its speed. While it allows a user to move very fast, it is limited to linear movements, so you're quite predictable on that regard. Another downside to the speed is that it blurs out your peripherals, making you tunnel vision in a sense, so you are very vulnerable to counter attacks from the sides. This is where the Sharingan comes into play. Because of its innate ability to see movements clearly, it negates the tunnel vision effects caused by the Chidori, so it's the perfect combo for the jutsu.
Not everyone knows, remember how Obito was always late helping someone? This is why Kakashi is always late, he does that in honor of Obito

Also, the downfall with the sharingan specifically when it isn't yours, is that you can't shut it off. Thats why Kakashi covers it up, it also drains a lot more Chakra than it does for an Uchiha. So there are downfalls to him having it as well as perks.

Obviously it isn’t literally Obito crying, but Obito helped Kakashi to get back in touch with his emotions, so it’s deliberate that it’s the eye Obito gave him which is crying. They mention obito once in the subtitle when someone was saying Kakashi is visiting a grave. I think it was during the Hokage funeral. It was so brief it would be almost impossible to recall. Unless, you've seen Shippudden and watched it all over again.

The sharingan slows things down and can predict opponent's movements, allowing Kakashi to see counterattacks. He moves too fast when using chidori to properly see them without it.

Ron mentions his original theory that Kakashi could have copied the Sharingan, but I think it's important to clarify that Kakashi's title of "Copy Ninja Kakashi" is because he has a Sharingan which has the power to slow visual input and reactions to see hand signs and the flow of chakra.
Add to it that he is a prodigy as well, as evidenced by his Jonin rank at this young age prior to the Sharingan, to get the feats he performs to create his legend as an adult.
They demo this a bit during the Zabuza fight, where Kakashi describes the Sharingan as having the power of prediction and hypnosis and proceeds to copy the Water Dragon Jutsu.
Last thing, Sharingan translates literally to "Copy Wheel Eye" and we see Sasuke demonstrate the copy ability of the Sharingan when he learns Rock Lee's Fighting style to use against Gaara during the chunin exams in OG Naruto.
Kakashi has told his students (Naruto, Sasuke & Sakura) that same sentence than Obito told him, about those who abandon their friends are worse than scum. Kakashi also shows up late, just like Obito, and claims that he was helping some elderly person, just like Obito. But we some times see that he is visiting a memorial grave every morning. That grave looks exactly the same as the one we saw here for Obito.

Times were definitely harder yes. The world was at war, many shinobi get killed and the graduates have to step in. Kids had to learn to grow up fast, survive, and honed their skills hence more prodigies would emerge too. Talented ones like Kakashi despite being young get to be promoted to Jonin level so that there are also still squad commanders and the rest of the Jonins can be dispatched to the frontlines.

If you remember from the first few episodes, Kakashi passed Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, taking them into his team after breaking the rule of not feeding Naruto (who was tied up) because they looked out for their teammate and didn't abandon Naruto. What a beautifully written reversal by Kishimoto showing the origin story of his moto

I think the nature of medical ninjutsu allows someone to bypass the biological/genetic affinity typically required for a successful organ transplant.
I do believe in OG Naruto there was mention of another village trying to steal the byakugan from the Hyūga clan.
Now that you said that thing about the sharingan i remembered that the reason why the branch Hyūga family members have a killswitch on their forehead is to prevent another nation from attempting to transplant what is essentially a HUGE military asset to the Leaf. So I don't think they'd have much issue with Kakashi taking/being given Obito's other eye's sharingan. because it still worked and COULD and WOULD have been stolen by the Hidden Stone after they got away.

Think about it. Eye stealing was mentioned ever since Neji showed Naruto that the Hyuga branch family curse mark. The curse mark seals the byakugan away on death.
The thing about the Mangekyou ties in with the fact that chakra is produced by every living cell. So as long as the eye is transplanted immediately or it is well preserved, it will retain chakra that binds to the new user
We have to remember, this kakashi's back story. It's WAR era, many youngsters used in battle just like most of the WAR we knows. Its like 18 yo in 1945 will be more capable in battle than 18 yo in todays era. Hope it helps

There are two shinobi who was stated clearly in the show that reach Jonin at young age which is Itachi and Kakashi. But for sure there tons of it include Minato but its not the highlight of the show narrative. and eyes like sharingan can be transfer if only its still activate and stay activate for the rest of holder life. That also why kakashi need to cover his eys not to cover the sharingan from enemy, but to prevent it automatically active and suck up his chakra.

33:37 You're actually not wrong there, I think this is a retcon. I didn't remember that back when I watched this part and going forward I just accepted the concept without questioning it again.
But in the early Naruto days they explained, that the Sharingan kekkei genkai is actually inside the user's brain, which is why they are able to process and percieve all that information. The color change of the eyes was described to be just a side effect of the chakra flowing through the brain and the eye nerves. They even visualized it with a picture of the brain and all.
Taking Uchiha eyes like Kakashi did has huge drawbacks. He has to keep it covered at all times because he cant turn it off and it would drain him pretty quickly.

Naruto, back in the day, when I would watch it like week to week, this was one of the best shounen of the time, this, Bleach, and a few others that set the bar for the other animes to come like Demon Slayer, JJk...etc. It's this amazing level of story telling that paved the way for all the phenomenal stuff we have nowadays. The reason kakashi could perfect chidori when he got the sharingan is becuase he can read the enemy movement so he wont get hit like he was before the eye.
Regarding the release of Kakashi Gaiden....my opinion only as to why it should have been released in Manga order:

In context with the story, the 3 characters were children and had to grow up to face reality like Kakashi. Sasuke is no longer with them, and Naruto and Sakura must find their own way.
The Kakashi Gaiden serves as a transition away from the innocence of childhood. This perfectly encapsulates the timeskip and lets the audience know things are not the same anymore.

Chidori/Raikiri is a jutsu used in superspeed. The Sharingan can see and prevent enemies movements. That's why before the transplant Kakashi couldn't use as good as he's able now with the doujutsu.

One of the reasons why the shinobi were very concerned about the dead is that they can study and / or steal jutsus to study a corpse and in the case of clans like the Uchiha or Hyuuga was normal to transplant eyes as spoils of war, however, for these people these eyes never work as well as they would for people of these clans, you know a genetic difference and all that.

Kakashi is a super genius like Itachi, his famous attack type is lightning speed and sword skills from the Hatake clan which was feared in the Second Ninja World War but after getting the Sharingan his fighting style changed and he was like a balloon that leaked continuously, that was a side effect of not being an Uchiha.

Where you heard Obito from is when kakashi was visiting the stone tablet of fallen ninja and the body was never recovered. He went there and the purple haired chick in the original Naruto anime. You also see the purple haired chick when orochimaru attacks the village she stops the random sand ninja and says you cant go any further at the point iruka says phase 2 counter attack. You did hear the name Obito before. During the whole raid on the leaf village by Orochimaru. One of the Anbu Black ops approached Kakashi during the funeral procession for lord 3rd. The Anbu asked Kakashi if he was at the memorial statue for Obito.
Actually when you activate sharingan it will suck your Chakra like other jutsus that is why Uchihas can deactivate and activate sharingan. So that they can save chakra but kakashi can't deactivated sharingan that is why he always closes his eyes. So whoever take the sharingan from Uchiha he/she can't deactivate the sharingan and that can suck all chakra. Difference between Uchiha and others.

Then he says he will fight those ninja that think that it's okay to abandon your friends and change the ninja world. That is so deep bcuz Obito had the essence if naruto the main character of the show. It's so emotional for naruto fans because we know Obito was naruto before naruto was born.
