- Our first visit to NWT Hickling Broad was indeed a very wet one but it didn't disappoint. The Nature Reserve hosts a variety of birds and wildlife and certainly is a special place to visit. We were lucky to have spotted the Swallowtail Butterfly, which can only be seen for a few weeks in certain areas - definitely a stunning butterfly. Our walk had to be cut short due to getting soaked through by a heavy downpour (should have only been showery) but I was happy that we had managed to see a lot of wildlife and the walk itself was very pretty. We will definitely return on a drier day.
I really hope you have enjoyed watching this video. Please do give me a thumbs up, drop me a comment or question (I will always reply) and please consider subscribing, all of which would be very much appreciated. Please do check out my other videos of walks in and around Norfolk and Suffolk, not forgetting our holiday adventures in the UK.
Thanks for watching, and for your support of my channel, Jenny x

Great video , and a little bit of ringing in the rain , worth the walk , enjoyed the watch. Jeff
Thanks Jeff... it's well worth a visit, even in the rain! 😃
Wow!!! Really beautiful even with little shower 🤩. So calm and peaceful. Really like it walking after little rain, yeah because that beautiful smell 😊.
😊❤️👍.
The smell was awesome and everywhere was so green and lush... one to definitely return to. And at least the birds were happy 😊
I don't think I've ever found rain gear that works. I just accept that if it rains, I'll be wet. My main focus is keeping my mobile phone dry. I figure the clothes will be laundered anyway. If it's cold I just add layers. They keep one warm even if they're soaked. I had bought an oilskin coat that was advertised to keep one completely dry. It didn't. I took a seven hour hike in the rain, and I was soaked through in about two hours, but I kept warm as long as I kept moving. It was a lot of fun stomping in all that mud.
Trouble with a lot of rainwear, it doesn't allow your body to breathe, so you end up being wet from sweat anyway! I'm happy walking in the rain (but as you say, not great for phones or some cameras), and I love a muddy walk!
Well done Jenny.
You saw many beautiful things.
Oh this weather🤦🏻😂
Robert didn’t look a happy boy.
Very lush and green after.
Beautiful photos at the end.
Well done both❤
Thanks Jamie!
No, Robert hates walking in the rain! 😂 I don't mind spring/summer rain!
Oh, the smell after the rain was lovely!
Thanks again for a lovely comment... Jenny 😊
Great vid guys, you've got me thinking, when was the last time I saw any butterflies in numbers
Thanks 😊
There's been very few this year! Probably because it's been so wet!!
So much for summer this year! My partner would love that walk- he takes photos of butterflies and insects. Hopefully you'll go back when it isn't raining ☺
It really is a beautiful walk, and when looking at their 'sightings board', there is so much to be seen 😊 I'm so happy we saw the butterfly though, as I've not seen one for a few years! 😊
You looked a bit bedraggled at the end there Jenny - a sing of a good day I reckon. Loads on display - that is a fine area to head back to. Let's hope it's sunnier although the smellovision is always a delight after a downpour. A full happy view-always good company you see. All the best. Mark
Haha! I was absolutely soaked through! 😂 It wasn't cold though, so I was happy enough! Robert, however, isn't a fan of walking in the rain 😅
I was so pleased we saw the Swallowtail Butterfly, it's so beautiful!
Thanks as always for your comments Mark... all the best, Jenny 😊
@@bumblejennybee88 You looked it Jenny but happy as - Robert didn't complain much. Yeah, that was a grand sight that butterfly. Always a pleasure.
