Had my stories many years back , for my children , I was writing poems back then , until I got a divorce after a life changing event. I almost lost my children, my inspiration, but after 16 years I've started writing those stories and my own bio and so many stories have and are coming . Don't know where this adventure will take me but it's good to know some one else's process. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm.

I always used to do small little booklets for my parents and friends when I was younger. Im a middle school teacher now and often try to find time to do the same for my students but I just don't seem to have much inspiration anymore 😢 Your videos are so jolly and lovely and exciting 😊😊

Than you so much,Jules! Drawing a picture book by myself has been my dream for so long, but i have no idea how to start till I accidentally saw your video. I followed you and watch your videos and make notes, and started to practice from the first video(how to make your own picture book). Now my first story almost finished, and i shared it with my friends and they all encouraged me keep doing it and they are eager to know what will happen in my story next. I feel so lucky to follow you and learn from your video, thank you!

I have an idea for children's chapter book series about witches. I have several characters in mind now and am working on fleshing it out with sketching Cora and her friends, and working on plot and ending. :) I have several projects I am working on, so this children's book idea is so fresh and nice to work on in between bigger projects. :)

I am curious about how to become a childrens book author and the pros and cons on publishing traditionally through someone else and how to do that besides Amazon. Or how to self publish.
I have heard from other Authors that it is extremely important to market and promote your book BEFORE you publish it.
Now as kid before I learned to read I loved being read too and hearing stories so much that I started drawing picture books that told a story. As time went on as a kid I use to draw and sketch alot but I eventually stopped drawing and painting as much and got rusty. Ive never been to art school or had studied art.
I dont know the first thing about how to pursue it professionally and gain the skills I once had and perfect them.
Im an 80s baby and I spent the first 20 years of my life with no internet. There is alot I just dont know about computers.
To be honest, Ive never even seen somebody do digital art until I saw a author show a small clip of them also using digital art for their book. That looked so cool! I am curious on what ipads and what programs are best to download for digital art for childrens books.
I would like to start drawing again.
But Im no professional and Im in the dark on all the tools out there.
And proper brushes and paints for illustrating a childrens book.
Digital art sounds like it might be easier. And you wouldnt even have to buy paints and brushes.
But I would really like to learn more information and tool's and advice for both writing and illustrating your own childrens picture book. I dont know what all you need as a new author other than a good editor after you write the book. Infact there is a chikdrens book author who is a professional editor, yet she always has somebody else edit her books because shes too close to the project and might niss something.
For example, she thought she was done with her book and she sent it off to have it edited howevwr the editor said the book was good but there was no conflict. And so the author forgot and had to had that in.
So I know you need an editor and a illustrator unless you are educated and know how to do it yourself.
I am curious on what education you have to have to help you gain these skills with or eithout college. And if college is a must or could help you grow as both a author and illustrator, just how much money would it cost I wonder. Because it seems foolish to go to college when mist authors know this is no fast easy get rich pay check.
Some authors do it not for tge money.
I mean I have heard most illustrators go to college to gain more art skills etc.
But the thought of going to college and paying alot of money just to write and illustrate a book when I hear your not going to be paid alot for writing a childrens book.
Your basically just doing it for fun and to help kids. Not to get rich.
Unless your super talented and become famous and go on to write romance novels or something.
But I want to learn about what I need mainly as beginner childrens author and what I should study and how I can check out books today too see what kids are into today and see if there is an area and subject matter that I feel passionate about talking about.
I also dont know how much money it will cost me to have the right type of ipad or laptop and programs printers etc needed to write the book but also how to learn techniques for illustration.
Im looking at this as a side hobby.
Since I dont see a stable career path and income.
So can somebody point me in the right direction on how to create not only a childrens book, but also a cookbook? Maybe even a cook book for kids? And how to go about leadning the art skills needed to become a childrens illustrator. And perhaps not have to share your work with a actual illustrator or traditional publisher.
And how do you go about copyrighting it so nobody steals it?
Im so in the dark because I've never known anybody personally who was an author. Nor have I ever thought Id have the guts to even look into it. I never had alot of faith in myself. But Id like to try to step out of my comfort zone and maybe write some childrens books.
I also sometimes enjoy writing devotionals and bible lessons.
And I wonder if that is also something I should look into.
Is there a study course thats free or books I can buy to help me learn how to grow as an Author and how the story should be structured properly to engage children and spark their interest?
And also find books that might teach some helpful tools for illustrating your own novel?
I mean going to college for that could be fun and all but probably too expensive. Times are hard financially. Im actually seeking a new career path. But writing and illustrating is something I want to look into on the side.
I have a very active imagination sometimes. Perhaps I can use that to help me tell a story.

    • @reneeloach7457
      @reneeloach7457 Před 2 lety

Hey I just started studying illustration at uni, a great way of starting to find your style is going out to the street or cafe and drawing people and house that you walk past or you can see just stand there and draw a quick still life in pen (no pencil allowed!!) just jump straight in and draw its in your sketchbook so it doesn’t matter and adventurly this will help you develop your own style! You can also pick a subject... cat for example and scroll through Pinterest and draw them loads of times and loads of styles and that will help you find what you like and don’t! Hope these help a little and good luck!!

No, not necessarily. And if there is one, it needs to be simple- for example in The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
