Welcome To Hell Week!
We walked in the door from our Disney Cruise and our home had flooded. While we were on the Disney Cruise Dallas experienced freezing temperatures and had snow...we had a pipe freeze and burst which flooded the entire downstairs - all the furniture - and Kenzie's closet upstairs.
It was awful.
Our minds were so fried 2 days later I hadn't paid attention to the gas in my car - and ran out of gas at night time on our way to pick Kenzie up from basketball.

Hi Holgate Family! You are so lucky with the recovery from your flood. It appears to have gone so smoothly. Being able to move into your new home on the same day that you find out you have become homeless is amazing. To have resolved your living situation so quickly is fantastic. I know that moving all of your possessions is not something that you are looking forward to, but now you have the opportunity to re-organize your stuff. Please look on the positive side of this experience, you are still living in the same neighbourhood, you are still dealing with the same landlord (Wow, they really came through for you with the new up-dated unit), your cat survived the experience and all of you are together. To have most of your belongings moved over in three days is outstanding. Hope your insurance covers the cost of everything that was ruined by the water. had a pioe burst in MN in February and plumbers could get out for 3 days so I sent the kids to the neighbors, went to home depot and found an employee who told me what I would need. I bought a blow torch, steel wool, flux and a heat shield and went home and soldered that pipe myself. Kids were at the neighbors in case I burned the house down. I hate plumbing to this day.

I survived two floods and could have had more. After searching for the cause, the plumber discovered it was under a slab of cement, the floor had to be jackhammered to get to a broken pipe flap designed to keep water from backing up into the house. Water back up happened from the storm drain and heavy rains. The flap is supposed to open one way (out, not in). There was an opening to supposedly get to the flap, but it was far too small, who knew. They should have known. Because we’re told these flaps often break, the opening is now larger and we won’t have to jackhammer the floor again. No floods since, knock(ing) on wood. ❤❤❤
I'm so so SO sorry that this happened to y'all. We were very happy to hear that there was another space available for y'all to move into though. Fate sometimes lines itself up like that. Also, Stephen, I LOVE that you have such an affection for Pete's Dragon. It is my favorite Disney movie. I'm 47 years old, and have been loving that movie for some 40+ years. You can sing ANY song from that movie that you want as far as I'm concerned, and I'm fine if you want to watch it every night. Wow! Sad that happened, but fortunately you guys had a nice community next door to help you guys out a lot. It was meant to be. Still, crazy that happened after a great time. Then moving and such. Reminds me of when my grams apartment unit was flooded for the same reason with a pipe burst, but was caused by the kid that lived above her. Still have to get used to this layout. We have cava in my city right down the street from me. I need to go there now. That food looked good!
Mobbing sucks for sure! I have been living in my apartment since 2010. I am in my 50’s, and I wouldn’t be able to move all this stuff to another place without help either. Glad you guys were able to get right in to another place. You’ll get it all back up the way you had it, it just takes time. I know it’s frustrating to have to go through all of that but at least you have your whole family together. ❤

So sorry to see your home was flooded. What a nightmare after such a wonderful cruise. So glad you were able to get new accommodation so quick. Its a huge task to get everything back in order. However on the plus side your coming across all the good memories of things you have done and had put away in a cupboard. Your Paris Hilton Bff . Was nice to see that .and your paintings. My water heater got a crack and leaked water for a LONG time. It was in a storage closet that i had crammed with junk. (I'm sort of a hoarder). The carpet and floor were saturated and sagging, then the floor collapsed! There went my hoard, my library all the clothes got musty, and my leather jacket and shoes molded. It's not repaired properly, but there's nothing in it!!!
I am so sorry this happened to you and your family. (including the creepy man in the van ) Yes I have had a flood in my townhome before. It was on Christmas day of 2022. Our neighbors pipes burst. Luckily, we were home when it happened. The fire department came and turned the water off. It was difficult because it was the holidays. However, our managers came and cleaned up the place and it was pretty quick. We were pretty lucky. I can’t imagine what it would’ve looked like if we were not home. Our neighbors were away for Christmas, so they were very happy that we stayed.
You guys are a wonderful family. No matter where you lay your head, as long as you are all together, your home! ❤️

Our condo had water problems back in 2016. 🙁 I was out of my bedroom for six months while everything was being fixed. I'm glad that y'all have a new townhouse to stay in. And I hope that everything works out in the end for all of you. 🙏🏻

So sorry you went through this 😢 I had a flooding experience when I was living alone a few days before I had my first child, work was not carried out on my rented home when it was supposed to be, the pipes were so old, rusted and burst on the top floor, all the items I had brought for my new baby were damaged so badly with rust water, nothing could be saved, its heartbreaking, i did not have another home to move into so returned to my patents, I had my first son shortly after and the heartbreak was soon forgotten. Always silver linings to every dark cloud 🌥 🌈 ❤

Did you find out anything about the man who was stalking your house? I hope nothing was stolen? Companies like that use shady people for one reason, they are cheap. It’s all about profit.
I hope you are happy , and soon feel settled, in your new home. The reverse layout of the house, reminds me of Alice through the looking glass, everything was the same but , was reversed.

Yikes! It is so fortunate that there was another unit available. I hate that someone was trying to possibly steal from you guys, there are so many bad peeps in this world. Glad things aren't as bad as they could have been. Blue, purple, green , orange for all my favorite people in my life. If I missed one of them I will find out later haha. But like everyone says you handled this with so much grace, you are so resilient and I think the only reason you handled this like you did is you still have each other and all 3 pets are safe, and this shows again how much love can do. It’s also why this duplicate house was waiting for you (karma) you deserved this like no one else on this platform. But I know this must have been very stressful and I hope you didn’t lose anything that’s sentimental. I can’t wait to see you new decorations and furniture it will be so cozy and warm. Ugh what an awful way to come home from a cruise to your house being flooded! I loved all the Pete’s dragon songs you were singing! Yes our basement flooded years ago when it got really cold apparently they didn’t properly insulate the one wall of our house and the pipes froze going up from the basement to the master bedroom. Then the pipe burst when it unfroze and I woke up to the air conditioner sump pump going off like crazy and I was like what it’s winter why is that going off! I ran downstairs and water was pouring out of the ceiling and the whole finished basement was flooded! Luckily I knew where the water shut off valve is and turned that off! Sadly my husbands comic book collection got ruined! We had to gut the basement and it was a nightmare!
Omg wtf? As if moving isn’t stressful enough and coming from home vacation is so sad then you come home from vacation and surprise you’re moving! Ok so my flood story isn’t as dramatic but you should get a good laugh. A month ago I was filling the Brita pitcher up on the counter and had to pee. So I leave the pitcher filling thinking I’ll be right back. In the 30 seconds it took me to pee I forgot about the pitcher filling and sat down to watch TV. A solid hour later it occurs to me that there’s what sounds like pouring rain but I know it’s not raining. A horror comes over me and I run into the kitchen to find a solid inch and a half of water. I’m sure my husband loved the text at work asking how to convert the shop vac so that I can vacuum up water. #Stonerproblems 😅😅😅😅

My heart went out to you guys watching this. My house flooded from a burst pipe in the 2021 freeze and spent about 7 months living in a hotel….watching this brought back a lot of memories. So sorry you had this happen!
