- 3249U’s Robot Reveal with a 360° turret.
We couldn’t get to our State competition to compete due to hazardous road conditions according to our school district. This was despite winning multiple Design awards this year, as well as having previous awards at both the Oregon State Competition and Worlds.
We are on the World's Waitlist, but are unsure what our chances for that are.
If you could share this that would be appreciated. We’re really proud of our work, and would like to possibly inspire others like so many have done for us.
Notebook:

Robot Info:
1 motor intake with a single flex wheel into a dual conveyor, pushing it onto an indexer plate.
Indexer is a pneumatic powered vertical linear slider system with a rubber screw joint for flexibility and counter weights for balance.
148 tooth custom polycarbonate gear for turntable with a wire spool powered by a single motor.
2 motors with custom polycarbonate direct drive inserts for the flywheel.
4 motor 200rpm x-drive with odometry suspension wheels for code.
2 expansion systems (pneumatic), for skills and matches. A rubber band shooter and a linear slider shooter.
Optical sensor flex wheel roller mech.
A ton of code for auto aiming without driver inputs.

We got an invite to worlds off of the waitlist!!!
Thank you so much to everyone who showed their support!!!
wooo! congratulations on qualifying and see you at worlds!
Very impressive!!
Good work y’all!
Thank you to everyone for the support!
Cool robot
#RobotLife. Very impressive work!
What an incredible machine! This is a MUST SHOW for VEX!
Truly one of the most amazing creations of all time
What a beautiful piece of machinery. Nice job!
Amazing Bot! As a team that attempted a 360 turret, words cannot describe how impressive this is. Your wire management solution is pure genius, and I really like your indexer! I cannot wait to see y'all at Worlds!
This is the robot that should have won the 2010 NASCAR Cup Sprint Championship
Your notebook today compared to in 6th grade! Wowzers!!! Amazing bot from an amazing team!!!
Great job!!! Amazing robot and notebook
These kids are amazing !! I really want to see them compete at Worlds !
I've worked alongside this team in practice all year, and they have put in a ton of work and effort perfecting this robot and getting it working to its full potential. Not to mention their notebook, which is incredibly well put together. At the one tournament this season where they didn't win design award, as soon it was announced that they didn't win, Joseph immediately turned to the team and said "we have work to do." Truly a deserving team to go to worlds
Thank you, it means a lot coming from you. Your team really missed out too, and I can't wait to see what you can accomplish in the future.
Nice job!!
Best note book in the state of Oregon
Very nice, stepping it up every year!
Seriously impressive.
The auto aiming turret is sick
In my humble opinion, I am very impressed. This robot must go to Worlds.
I tried to open your notebook but it didn’t even open cause it was too big of a file, very impressive
Hey 3249U! We missed you at State! You're an amazing team and we would love to see you at Worlds! Good luck to all of you, no matter what happens!
These kids have worked so hard on this project! They were very successful last year. I’m sure that some kind of arrangement can be made so the kids can compete.
Notebook op
Best notebook
@RECFoundation Couldn't go to State Championship due to weather. Would love to go to Worlds! Can you help?
They gotta pick you guys from the wait-list for worlds! Wayyy too good for them not to.
That autonomous turret is such a great idea! And your notebook is a piece of work indeed!
The auto aiming turret is one of the coolest things I have seen on a robot in a LONG time. So sorry we weren't able to make the State championship to qualify for Worlds. Worlds is the perfect place for your robot!
Yay!!!
the notebook is so hot What the actual heck
Wooooh great job!
Looks amazing!
We love our “nerd” Yuri!!!!
this team is so deserving to go to Worlds. the automatic turret is INSANE!!! it just sucks they were not able to compete in their state competition due to the weather
That’s good
This is seriously impressive! Way to go, you guys!
I just hear the news !!!!! :) :) :) :) Congratulations !!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) I'm sooo happy for each of you !!!! :) Time to go Bowling!! :)
Now we'll have to go bowling in Dallas too!
@@3249ultraviolet My Treat !! :) But ... I think you might be very busy Competing, and then WINNING !!
Good Luck!
Thanks!
Amazing work, very nice design on your cable management solution. We started our season with similar design to this robot but moved on to a design aimed to get higher efficiency. Really wish you guys luck on world spot, hope to chat with you guys in worlds.
Very cool robot! Good luck at Worlds! ;)
hopefully we get chosen off of the waitlist 🤞
How did you get the like base gear that everything rotates on?
We used 1/2 circle polycarbonate laser cut gear pieces, stacked together and bolted to make one piece. We used 1/2 circle pieces to make sure it could fit in the 12x24" requirement for functional plastics.
I will probably do an explanation video on it in the near future, like within the next week, so if that would be interesting you may look to subscribe for that.
Or if you'd like (and I remember to) I could reply to your comment when that video goes up.
😮😮😮
What rpm is that flywheel?
4200 rpm
It varies a lot in a match. When up close its tuned around 2600, but it goes up to its full 4200 if you're in the other low goal.
I won design at states, but this still blows my notebook out of the water! Could you please tell me how did you do the footers in your notebook so you could have different dates on each page?
We used "insert, section break" instead of page breaks, and unselected "same footer" box in the footer
@@3249ultraviolet Ohhh that makes sense thanks I'll have to do that next year. I hope you guys make it to worlds.
The one downside to it is we think it's a large reason why our notebook lags so much. You may want to experiment with 0 lower margins and do something with that first.
That being said it also may be due to the use of a picture that's linked from drive for a signature on every page.
@@3249ultraviolet I have the same thing with a picture for each signature and it doesn’t lag my document (but I only have 170 pages). Your notebook actually loaded very quickly on my laptop it loaded the first 200 pages within a second and the rest after like 20 seconds.
Can it shoot without backing up? Like with a blooper maybe? The whole point of a turret is kinda to not have to adjust urself ._.
ya, we just wanted to get the video out before any worlds waitlist decisions were made and those were the only shots we had on film

Pretty heccin wack bro nice robot 👍👍🥶🥶🥶🔥🔥🔥🔥🧊🧊❄️🌨️👍🅱️🅾️🅱️💯💯💯🎉🎉🎊🎉💀💀💀👀🛋️
nice endgame😉
Not really lol, but the one shot of that one firing is what were updating it around, and making the octopus type better now that we're going to worlds.
crazy engineering wtf. How do you get so much knowledge of mechanical design? How do you even cad something like this
Our teams mechanical design knowledge comes from helping one another, working in a project based school where we can use it, and many years of VEX. Mine personally also comes from being around engineers all of my life and seeing their processes as they work through problem solving issues.
As for the CAD, all of the vex parts are available online as 3d files, so it's mostly just cut to size and make joints. Mainly assembly stuff. While a number of our team has actual design experience with CAD, it's usually not necessary for this. Apart from the custom parts like the turntable gear.
@@3249ultraviolet Thank you this is very helpful. I wish you guys the best of luck in the future.
Pls help me quickely. I changed the documents of google docs in black but I wanted the first page to be black and the rest just white. Can you help me?
I want the first one to be black and the rest of the pages white like yours
Our first page is only like that because it's an image that we created elsewhere and imported in. I'm not sure if you can have a separate background for the first page.
r u guys going to be at US open
No, sadly by the time we looked to register it was full
where do i go to make a 3d design of my robot before i build?
We designed it in Fusion 360 so that each of our team members could collaborate and work on different parts of the robot, and then the files can be updated in a single assembly. Fusion 360 / autodesk gives out FREE educational licenses which is great because it is a professional level program you can take to jobs later in life! You can access all of the premade parts with instructions using a library here: www.vexforum.com/t/vex-cad-fusion-360-parts-library-release-log/83263
Good luck!
