Just watched the pianist and what an amazing actor. I felt every emotion. I’m watching this during the lockdown for Covid-19. I live by myself so it’s real lonely. It gives me tiny insight about what it’s like to have to stay inside the house. But he did it with fear of his safety, no interaction with others, in freezing conditions, without adequate food, and no option of even stepping foot outside. I cannot imagine this existence. But I am grateful he shared his story. Well done Szpilman, Brody and director Roman Polinsky. Brilliant!

A couple of years ago I visited Yad Vashem and the footage I saw there I will never forget. I wish I could. Having those images still fresh in my mind and now the frames of the Pianist I can say Polanski likely stayed true to reality as much as he could. I’ve read Holocaust survivors comment on movies like this and Schindler’s list and say they are very accurate portrayals of the atrocities that happened during WW2. But that it should be multiplied by 10. I can’t even begin to imagine. My mind can’t go there. To me the holocaust might be one if not thé darkest page in history. This can never happen again. Not to the Jews, not to anyone.
A true masterpiece. How inspiring this man and actor was throughout this journey is beyond my thoughts and grammar. I can’t even explain how much I love this film. I have family who have seen it all happen in person.
