    When I lived in Utah, the Salt Lake County Council decided they would allow city dwellers to have chickens, but it seems they hired a bunch of OSHA workers to write the regulations. They wanted control over every detail, down to the exact size of the openings of the chicken wire.

    Not rebel but Resilient!
    We shouldn’t see challenges as an end all, a paraphrase from Joel Salatin’s many great writings. We shouldn’t become so rigid that we can’t see all the many possibilities.
    We farmers must adapt to overcome our ever changing world around us!
    Many blessings, Linda

    And I can see that pushing those farmers to be large and buy large equipment then turn on them seems to be defeating the purpose. You give them all those subsidies to become factory farms and then cut their life support and tell them to move to other practices and start over. Then prevent any young farmer to start over the right way due to cost of entry. And in the end the whole things will collapse. Thanks Joel to go talk to them and help change their laws to make a move in the right direction.

    As a Scot, I completely agree with you about us Europeans being much more docile and compliant...to our detriment. I wish more of us had the American spirit...but a century of socialist propaganda has been very powerful here. I dream of being able to buy land and start a farm one day...but it will be a regenerative farm and I will not be doing it the way most Europeans do it

    It is very hard to say that farmers are over reacting.
    When government leaders and bureaucrats want to control everything about farming who farms, what they're allowed to do and where it is allowed to be done. Then where that food is allowed to go. They are taking the farmers land or telling them they can no longer use it all as farm land.
    The politicaly powerfull always make arbitrary bad decisions and rules. Malnutrition and starvation follow shortly.
    In much of the world , they are actively trying to take away your privilege to grow food and animals. Unfortunately they are succeeding one way or another.
    They are offering corporate/ government laboratory food product and insect protein. To replace generations of individual farmers, and healthy food.

    • @braeburn2333
      @braeburn2333 Před 5 měsíci +1

      It's true, Stalin and Mao killed millions by thinking they knew how to farm better than the farmers.
      Mao dictated to all to kill all the sparrows because he erroneously thought that sparrows ate grain. They eat insects. So when the Chinese people succeeded there was an insect bloom which destroyed the crops.
      I think fourty million died because of that mistake.
      When one farmer in control of one farm makes a mistake, the problem isn't repeated by all the farms. It's the opposite. They all learn from their failures.
      Governments central control can never admit failure, so they never learn. They dictate to all, so all must repeat the failed policy for decades.

    Farmers in EU are way more docile and compliant because they are fully dependent on the state through subsidies. Those subsidies were established by the EU itself many decades ago, supposedly to steer the farmers toward certain crops or to regulate and manage this diverse continent. It's a failure. Not only in agriculture.

    I really don’t know anything about what is going on there. I can say one thing for sure, this chaos is not because these farmers want to farm regeneratively. So I have a hard time taking either side, luckily I don’t need to. I don’t think we in the US have it figured out any better. The worst thing about it is what Joel explains at about 10:15 and on a ways.

    We feed our chickens mice and squirrels from a young age and then they learn to keep the chicken yard, pasture, and coop free of rodents, when the chickens get this much protein their egg production is excellent.

    Joel, I couldn’t have said it better. I agree with taking a stand but who’s growing food if we are all in the streets? What’s fertilizing our food if it’s all literally on parlament? What is creating bio diesel if all of the compost is in the streets? CO2?? It’s Carbon Monoxide which is the issue not CO2 and burning tires and plastics is not helping the emissions of CARBON MONOXIDE.

  • @gerhardbotha7336
    @gerhardbotha7336 Před 3 měsíci

    Another thing: Subsidies are bad. You cannot have an industry dependent on subsidies. What is the point? So farmers need to wake up and start working with biology. Stop buying stuff as input to the production process. You are supposed to be a primary economy sector. Methods like Joel’s point the way

      What are the farmers actually arguing for? In multiple EU countries I see all they want is legalized pesticides and herbicides. I'm all for blocking imports and removing regulations, and they need to fight against the EU trying to take 10% of farm land.
