This film is one of the only to ever make me actually cry
The scene close to the end, without spoiling it, where we last see Ronald, that's gut-wrenchingly depressing to watch, given his backstory.
Have you just graduated from Disney Channel?
I saw this in theaters alone and cried my eyes out. I was in a bad place then and the movie really spoke to me.
Blue Valentine?
The persuit of happyness.
This movie relied on 0 gimmicks. Extremely heartfelt. I cried at the end.
They basically fictionalized the guy's entire life and experiences. If he had bothered to learn anything about the wild before going there, he would ha e survived. The gimmicks are there. They're just well-hidden.
@@blacksmartie8801 Exactly. Looked like he was just rebelling against everything. Look at what Morgan Beasley. Did in mountain men, he walked to his new claim knew nothing about the place. But learned and took precautions.
@@blacksmartie8801how do you figure? His family and John Krakauer were involved with the making. Sure they took some liberties..thats how you make an enjoyable film bud.

this movie was magical, shed a tear when i saw how good genuine friendship should be like and how simple life can be if you just took the time to enjoy the simple free stuff
I even got emotional watching the trailer. I don't know why this movie always makes me so emotional. It's so beautiful

To just get away and disappear into the wilderness... I think about it everyday
Still thinking?
Don't disappear into it.. Live it.. I get the gist of the movie.. Through the trailer.. It's about experiencing everything in Nature
Well, make sure ur not gonna miss wifi, soft bed, cheeseburger, and possibly toilet paper before you decide to do so

@@nguyenhaiduong9400 nah just bring lots of toilet paper and you're fine
As someone who has dedicated my life to my career in natural resources and am an avid outdoorsmen.. I still cry every damn time I remember his story and see this. It hurts. He was dumb at times... but my god did he love life and everything we wish we could do.
You and me both. He shucked it all, just like I did. I had no interest in all the "plans" that were made for me.
I wont say he was dumb. He was smart as you can see in this film. I assume he just wanted to take a risk and knew about it, he wanted to feel the excitement, obviously he knew he wasnt that good surviving in the wild. I mean if something goes wrong he would just leave. But finally then it was too late because of the river. Sad ending for Legend himself.
No, he was pretty dumb. That or mentally ill.if he had bothered to learn even the simplest things about surviving in the wild, he would have survived. The book and movie bear no resemblance to what actually happened to this guy. And its irresponsible how they have tried to make him into some kind of folk hero.
Actually you are dumb
@@Mara941
Alaskan natives will tell you he was reckless at best and stupid at worst. This movie and the book were super romanticized, but it’s ultimately a cautionary tale. Chris was breaking into local’s homes for food and was so woefully unprepared. He died a slow, painful, and lonely death. And now there are people dying because they were inspired by this story.
I was actually crying really bad in the last scene... Touched my soul. His last words 'Happiness is real when shared explained that actually whatever he did for his happiness wasn't enough. There has to be someone with whom you will share your happiness for rest of the life...' What happened to Ron, they actually didn't mentioned about him in the last.
Ron one day found some hitchhikers passing by he asked them about chris they told him they read in news paper that a young man was found dead in Alaska , Ron broke down , he became atheist straight up , brought himself a bottle of whiskey, and few days after, he died in road accident because he was drunk 🥺. Man I just found about it .
Who is Ron?
@@gsa7162 The older guy who met Chris and asked him to be his grand son legally.
He also said that your wrong if you think joy comes principally from relationships . God place it everywhere around us. I think he was genuinely happy in nature and shared happiness in nature and all its being. Anyhow his happiness was shared all around the world and his happiness lasts forever throughout all generations by this movie and his story. Rest in power Chris your happiness is shared and it’s real 😍💙💙🙏🏾✨✨

@@since-oj9ce yeah it's been on my list from very long I jus remembered , I will watch it soon.
I just watched a documentary about Chris McCandless and discovered that he didn’t cut up and toss out all his identification and money. For whatever reason, the authorities didn’t retrieve his back pack from the bus, but a local man did. It appeared to be empty, but the guy found a hidden compartment which contained Chris’s wallet. Within the wallet, there were probably 7 or 8 pieces of identification, including his DL, SS card and a library card. Also, there was $300 in it. I have heard some folks theorize that Chris set out on a death wish and for years I sort of wondered about it myself because I earnestly believed he had erased himself by getting rid of all identifying documents. To hear that he actually didn’t do that more solidified my belief that he fully intended on going back home, or at least going back to civilization. Chris, aka Alex Supertramp, your story absolutely breaks my mother heart and I feel as if your life and death was both a love letter to and an indictment of Generation X. I do not think you held beliefs and convictions very different from the rest of us Gen Xers, but you had the balls to actually act upon those impulses and convictions. I wish you would have survived your self-imposed rite of passage because I think you likely would have had a lot to say and people would have enjoyed hearing it. RIP Mr. McCandless, I hope to one day meet you on the other side.
c'est une liberté artistique connard
No one misses you , or talks about you or remembers you until you’re gone . His story is only special (sadly) because he died. There is tons more stories of the same nature but people are still living - boring ?!? I love that movie and I appreciate his journey and it makes it that more special because he died for what he believed in ! I respect him tremendously for it but again , if I watched that movie and he is still alive , it wouldn’t have been as special . That’s just facts
I'm sorry to say it, but when you leave your problems and commit suicide bcoz you can't stand generation x pr Western Society pr whatever you don't have balls
@@_.LZ._ Suicide? He didn’t commit suicide on purpose. His journal shows he tried to hike out, but couldn’t because the river had thawed. He wanted to make it 100 days without society. That actually does take quite large, brassy balls.
@@Boudica1313 First of all, when you go UNTRAINED and ALONE in ALASKA it's a suicide, second why are his balls giant? For leaving his problems, I mean yeah it was his choice but why tf make movies and books for someone who was just coward? He could have experienced the whole thing where we can't even did it till now in our life !! Such a beautiful journey and so memorable!!! From this I learned alot and it is true "Love always comes when it's shared". One Of The Greatest Films I Have Ever Seen, Truly Amazing.
One of the finest movie I have ever watched 🙌🏽 full of life lessons!
I left the UK in October 2019. My whole life fits into a backpack and it's the best way to live imo! I've picked up jobs along the way and met incredible people in some incredible places. In 2 weeks I set off on a "bikepacking" adventure to cycle 1000km along the cost of Australia. Into the wild...
i want to talk to you michael!
God the ending still gets me
It is not just a movie it is a poem about life
Omg, i just came across this trailer when i was searching for books about mountain life and honestly i can relate with this sooooo much. I'm a 19 yrs old girl n i don't wanna continue mah study i just wanna leave everything behind n live in the mountains forever.... Ik m gonna make it ik that.... And my reasons to leave everything and go into mountains is not to prove anything but to heal myself, to feel alive, to know my purpose...
🤝
I feel y'all....I see myself as an old lady guru, sitting high above the noise, on mountain in sun just in observation of life, we're spirits so free flow would seem natural to do as birds, butterfly and bees but we are stewards of the planet so we have work but we can always stay connected to nature in many ways.... Don't get stuck in man made life 24/7 stay grounded
Rons story made me cry especially when he asked alex to be his grandson even though he knew alex was houng to refuse. Man was lonely most of his life and the only person to make him feel better about himself (alex) also left him to achieve his own goals. Poor ron man
I cried a lot during the whole movie
"Happiness is real when shared" Alexander Supertramp, my anti-hero
Heard this somewhere and felt it after watching this movie "life should not be long, it should be big and meaningful"
As I read through the comments here I seen a common theme, people very emotional and empathetic to his story! Is the reason this movie is so emotional to us because we crave the same adventure? We crave the courage to go out and live a life none confirming to the constraints of society? I truly believe so, because I do myself. I see a lot of amazing people in this comment section and I want to share my love. I have a great career helping people buy, sell and invest in real estate however I crave this kind of adventure more then ever. I cried when I send this movie and damn near in tears thinking about it right now. ❤️❤️❤️ much love everyone and let’s never let our dreams for adventure become regret ❤️
Ditto, the real estate I'm learning to solve problems but if relationships were right and things were shared as we used to, it wouldn't be necessary... ILLUSION is so not nature, there planet is our home and there's room for us all. Congrats on your REI.
This movie looks beautiful as a long stretch of survival, from the wilderness beyond man and god.

Watching this from a little resturant in India as I backpack for six months. I can see three cows, a yellow tuk tuk and feel keenly the same sense of adventure. Travel is addictive and tho I'm only on my gap year and dodging an English winter I will always chase the sun and the rich world that is out there, you just need to be brave enough to seize it :)

Good luck on your journey!!
@@en2p187 Hey bro, I'm performing research on the adventure, travel & expeditions niche for copywriting purposes.
Do you mind responding the following question? It would help a ton :D
What are the fears that hold you back from your drive to travel? And why do they hold you back?
@@martinelizalde2703 cool glad to help! So although many people do it, I'm afraid to solo travel. Going alone feels more intimidating than going with a group, but i havent found any like minded people near me willing to leave everything behind and explore the world. The second thing is that I'm surrounded by a lot of depressed individuals who prefer the safety and comfort of boring 9-5's and push me toward settling for the same things (family, friends, co workers etc). Despite being aware of this, I find myself being influenced by their attitudes and resigning myself to the monotonous life I currently have. I'm still young, and I still plan to do this, I just feel like I've missed out already so much. Once I get over those, I think I'll be all set to go. It's organized, but right now I'm setting up a study abroad experience in Japan in rural prefectures for next January. That'll definitely get me out of my comfort zone in the meantime.
@@en2p187 Appreciate the golden response!
I feel you, it is a lonely place to be when aspiring for a thrilling life of exploration and adventure, not for the lack of desire in others,
(because as humans we are wired to go out and play)
but for the actual bravery and ruthlesness it takes to go out and actually face the challenges of conquering new lands and surpass the limits within.
4 cardinal virtues are a must. Especially prudence.
However,, the boot laces do and must be laced and the the walk must be walked.
The world is a playground and we must go play.
Wish you all the best in your adventures fellow!
This movie has a different place between all other genre
This movie has been on my watchlist for the last 10 years, don’t ask me why I haven’t watched it, you know why.
He reminds me of a man in the remote area of Northeast India. He left society at age 20 and lived in the jungle alone hunting and fishing. He'd only come to the market to sell his catch for essentials.
In 2017, the local news met with him and did an interview with him. He was 57 years old happy in the wild.
Do you have any information or much more like any article about the person you can share, it will be helpful. Needed a bit of info before leaving society.
