Т.е. раскалили до красна железку, отпустили металл, а потом из получившейся сыромятины сделали метчик. Я всё правильно понял?
На говне разогрели, говно и получилось 🤣
А без отпуска он бы не смог ничего с ней сделать, резцы убил бы. Металл на гипоиды идет обычно хороший, там легирующие добавки сами по себе хорошие

Great job! Sometimes you just need to make a big tap. I’ve done a few. If you have the luxury of creating 2, you could have made a starter but that’s hardly worth it for a one-off. Maybe a chase with a diamond file and a sharpen on the leading edge then re-hardening could be worthwhile. Even a relief angle on the flutes. An internal threading tool and mandrel would have worked too, but this one got the job done. 👍🏻
I like the idea of using dried cow manure , as fuel to heat and soften the metal 🤣

The idea was good, but lacked finesse to finish it. That thread was all chewed up, and the start of the thread was nonexistent because the tap had stripped it.
At 0:13 we are off to a good start, blunt tool bits and rusted tool bits (as good as being blunt as edges are removed).
