Your very first guitar is a Gibson Les Paul? Wow… lucky you!
That's what I'm saying
@@riverbooth2085 yeah fr man thats 3k with the amp too!
She said shes a fiddle player. Some violins are double even triple the price of a LP.
A military brother in 1975,had a 71 or 2 black Les Paul.He was so good,I told him he should become a session musician!!
@@NYSeaNile yes and a Les Paul Gibson Vintage year 1979 is way more expensive
Enters shop, goes straight to the wall of Paul’s, picks up a Burst and buys it. Now that’s a gal to my liking!😂 Congratulations!
Hahah! I’m a very decisive person when it comes to instruments!

YOU SAID IT!!! For A First Time Trip You Were Awesome In Running Down The Specs, Finishes, Pickups, Tone, Neck Thickness, Etc.!!! I Need To Take You With Me To That Store😁. I Was Born In Savannah, But Live In California Now. 🙃 How Much Was That GOLDTOP...Do You Remember? I'm In The Market For One...Only THAT One.... I'm A Lifelong STRAT Man!!!😜
Because it looks like a fiddle.
Amen Scooby! You took the words right out of my mouth! ;)
She knew just what she was looking for. That's how the REAL women do it.
Congratulations, your guitar center actually has a bunch of stock, mine looks like it got robbed
Same. So dad. It was a hopping place 15 years ago.
Same mine is sad.
I gotta tell ya, the fact that someone who plays fiddle and “traditional” acoustic music bought a Les Paul is awesome. I never ready got into acoustic guitar but electric spoke to me for largely the same reason you bought that guitar: that fat rock sound! You’re gonna have fun! You will notice that many of the nuances of playing fiddle also apply to electric guitar especially with the overdrive channel on the Orange. Keep us updated!

I love their accents...and excitement about shopping for guitars. Just think of the number of great players from Georgia.
For being a new player you sure are knowledgeable. You're on your way and you definitely made a wise choice. You have passion I can tell, and that's all you need.
Thank you!
It made me smile to watch you pick out, and play the different Les Paul's, and walk out the door with your new baby -- just like I smiled watching my young son do the same when he was 14 yrs. old. Loved this!
Thank you so much!
... oh and it’s awesome you mention Gary Richrath. He was a great musician that I’m afraid who’s name will be lost to time.
Excellent choice!!!!
Thanks so much! If you ever wanted to collaborate here is our email: thepressleygirls@gmail.com
Our prized family heirloom is my uncles 1964 Gibson Dove. My grandpa bought it new in 64. We all own and love Gibson Guitars!
Fenders are better. 🤭
@@shmirginhymer1867 Well ... it depends on what you are playing really. I am fortunate to have a Les Paul, Strat, and I just got a new Tele that I absolutely love. Different 'tools' net different outcomes. Peace.
@@stephenlennartz3466 Gibson makes nice guitars, I'm just personally not a fan. Les Paul's are great but I'd probably go with an ESP style first because of Gibson's rep.
Oh my!!!! You mentioned REO Speedwagon!!!! I’m a little surprised and startled. I’m 63 years old and have loved them since my teens. To hear them talked about by a young fiddle playing woman is absolutely astonishing and beautiful. Saw in concert almost all of the bands you mentioned in concert back in the 70’s. My favs back then were Zeppelin, 4 concerts, Stones, 4 concerts, Framton, one concert, The Who, one concert, and BTO, Allman Bros., and many more!
☺️🙏
Ahhhh good ole Les Paul beautiful sound and color. enjoy making her sing!! ❤️
I sure will!
These Girls don’t mess around🤟🏽🎸Look forward to hearing it
Thanks!
When you find the guitar that you can't live without, you know you found the right one! Congratulations!
I chuckled when you said "I like all the guitars." I have that problem too. I just ordered my 15th guitar and I know there are at least three more that I "need."
We always need them all, right? And wow 15 guitars!
New gear day! Yay! Have fun discovering LPs and all the wonderful things they can do!
Wooohoo! Thanks!
Try strumming atonal notes behind the bridge with heavy distortion to get the 90's Tool thing going. Lol
Yes! Gary Richrath was one of my first guitar hero that I connected with a Les Paul. All those old videos they would play on MTV live from Denver I believe. He made a huge impression on me, such memorable solos! Congrats on picking out a real beauty!
I’ll have to see if I can find those videos! He’s a big inspiration for me for sure! He could make a Les Paul just sing!
@@thepressleygirls No doubt! And ALWAYS looked like he was having the time of his life playing. Truly enjoyed what he did.
For a fiddle player you made a very wise and well-reasoned selection of a guitar. I’ve been playing for 45 years and have owned Les Pauls. I would have picked the one you chose as well. Btw - y’all sound fantastic. Keep up the fine writing, singing and performing.
Wow! Thank you so much!
Standard before Traditional all day. Its so weird that Traditional isn't actually very traditional, its more like when Fender uses Standard or something.
I learned a long time ago I learned that if you buy what you really want in the first place, you'll only cry once. That's an incredible guitar.
I worded that badly. Got distracted by my little 4 year old buddy for a minute. 😜
its so true ... if you can ... go straight to what you love, cause if you dont later you'll understand that was a waste of time and ressources ... unfortunatelly when i started playing i couldnt afford a LP std ... eheeh :p
How true! Missed a PERFECT 1977 Fender Stratocaster (tobacco sunburst; maple fretboard; totally stock except for beefier frets... an absolute DREAM GUITAR!) by mere HOURS because I hesitated... came to my senses & resolved to go ahead & buy it... SOLD. Someone else beat me to it. Lesson learned the hard way. Don't let it happen to you! JUST DO IT.
Just do it! That’s my motto and I knew I would be sad if I didn’t leave with this guitar!
@@bradbyers7505 worded perfectly. When I received my American Performer Mustang for my birthday, it reminded me of my first great guitar, a vintage Mustang. I can set them up to work flawlessly, so there is no bad Mustang in my hands for all you haters, they're so fast, you'll love them if you like the shorter scale feel of a Les Paul. But yeah, both times, I cried. I'm never letting this new one go.
Nice story. That guitar was the one that caught my eye as soon as you walked up to that wall of Les Paul’s. Definitely my choice. Enjoy it!
It caught mine too!
I am 52 , and Gary Richrath is the REASON I play a Gibson Les Paul!!
He was truly talented. He had his own style and he brought the house down. Maybe one day I’ll bring the house down too!
I played a strat after I gave nearly 800.00 for a L Paul in 1982 that an Octopus couldn't keep in tune😡,After that I felt Les Paul's should be sold by the RICK!.
His burst was special you can hear how good that one was!
Congratulations on your new purchase, I also like your soft rock influences. Looking forward to you sharing your progress with us.
Thank you! ❤️
Congrats, I'm so happy that you had a great experience buying your first guitar. I see some naysayers on here, but your experience and your impression is all that really matters, I'm sure G.C.s vary in different regions just like any retailers. You girls are so talented, and you've clearly poured a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into your various interests. It must be very rewarding, and give your lives great purpose now as your venturing into your adult lives. I want to encourage you as I've seen quite a few of your videos, and I don't think I've ever seen two such genuine, well rounded, mature, young ladies in my life. I know your mom's proud, and she should be. I pray that you know your value, and can see the benefit to the way you were raised and your Appalachian heritage. I realize that I'm just some random 35 year old on CZcams who's nostalgic about his Southern raising, but I'm really proud of you too, and frankly just thrilled to know that there are still purpose driven, conscious, articulate, truly beautiful young ladies out there, because that's not what I see for the most part.
You made an excellent choice in the Les Paul ‘60s spec Standard. It’s the purest of what one thinks of as a Les Paul. I’m personally a fan of the unburst finish. That’s an heirloom quality axe you can pass down to your children and grandchildren. Very cool!
Congratulations on the guitar! 🎉
This is so funny to me, because I detest Gibson as a company.
My first guitar was a Les Paul, and I absolutely HATED IT. It was WAY too heavy, and very hard to hold sitting down. It would keep slipping off my 7 year old lap.
I found a Stratocaster and it changed my life.
I play mostly acoustic today...I'm 41 now.
Peace. 🐰💙🇺🇲🎸🎶🤝✌️
Wow, look at all those electric guitars! Congrats on your new one!🎸 I'm sure you'll be playing very well very quickly. Would Love to hear you play piano again, if u still do! Y'all are so musically talented! Blessings!🌻🌷
Absolutely! And thank you so much!,
I love that double cut Les Paul up on the wall. Dang, that's pretty! You got a super nice Les Paul, too. I love the color of the one you bought.
That double cut one was really really cool for sure!
@@thepressleygirls if you check a few other bigger shops out, sometimes, just sometimes, a cool model only offered a few years back is still on the wall. When it comes to that DC, look for a modern DC as well, if you spot one its pretty crazy looking because it Gibson on the headstock, but clearly, somebody was playing with gas, because it actually looks like a PRS 22 with the redesign of the horns/cutaway. Still great burst, I have one I. Honeyburst from 94', its a Les Paul Classic Premium Plus Model. Is it a mouthful, yes. Is it three handfuls of Les Paul. Yes. Cheers! Have a great journey learning guitar, it is a passion that will serve you well.
Congrats! You really went big for your first time in there
Indeed I did!
I’ve been to that one in, it’s pretty nice. I love my Les Paul but I’ll still play my Fender Strat too.

Good old Southern Classic Rock! The guitar is pretty and expensive! I'm waiting on a video with you playing it. Thanks for sharing!
I’ll put one up at some point! Thanks!
Bought my husband a Taylor acoustic and a PRS electric guitar for our worship band. One for his birthday and one for Christmas. He is working with his band from Scotland doing the mixing now for them. So, we now have a Behringer mixing desk and a Roland Keyboard from the 70s. Amazing instruments. Last night I listened to someone playing a harp guitar. Beautiful sound too. Congratulations on your purchase. I hope it does good for your little group. I sent your name out to Keepin it Dutch in Oklahoma. They are having a homesteading expo in March and are gearing up for country and bluegrass Christian singers. After listening to some of your music thought it was so good.
Taylor’s and PRS’S are fine guitars! Sounds like y’all have an awesome setup! Wow, thanks for sending our info to them, they are awesome we watch their videos!
I always wanted to play a stringed fiddle but never had the time I grew up in the 60’s and lived next door to a band called the undertakers I would go there and listen to them practice .I went to see Jimmie Hindrrx ,The Beach Boys , and many more at the Allen B Shepherd civic center at Va. Beach we called it the Dome they tore in down .Another cool place to go was the peppermint Beach Club it’s tore down & Peabodys warehouse .I Grew up in a good time for music .❤
You've just bought yourself a very great guitar! Congratz!
Thank you!
That's a beauty! I got the 50's model in Heritage Cherry Sunburst (only took me 15 years of playing to be able to do so). I actually AB'd the 50's and 60's models to decide which one. It was a very narrow choice (I chose the lower output pickups and the Cherry SB finish) as both were amazing. If I had had the $, I would've walked out with both of them.
Now we'd all like to see you and your sister play your Les Pauls and see which one (whose set up) sounds better. Either way, you both made it into the illustrious Les Paul Players Club! Welcome! ;)
Thank you!!! I bet they’d both sound good! And the cherry sunburst is beautiful!
I love that you are a fan of Gary Richrath. One of my favorite guitarists too.
He was a legend!

Thank you!!!!!!!
Everybody has their preferences. Hope you enjoy your Les Paul for many years to come.
Hi there-- your enthusiasm with music and guitar is so inspirational! THANK YOU! I've been in and out of guitar, the longest period due to a bad wrist injury. I'm 54--
In Feb of this year I said, "I'm going to do this!" I did alot of online research, narrowed down the specs, for the music I liked and my prior experience where I knew I wanted to buy in the future.
Guitar Center--found they had what I wanted and went to play it. I've had an Ibanez JS1000 and a custom Carvin. I ended up buying and just loving the ESP LTD M-1 Custom '87.
Gosh, your enthusiasm is so...Rockin. Thanks for video!
Awww great!!! Keep rockin 😎
Oh what a gorgeous guitar! So happy for you. It was meant to be yours.
❤️
Congrats on your purchase! You'll notice that eventually, you'll want a Fender Stratocaster in your collection. Both guitars are great.
Either that, or the Tele, if country and classic rock specifically is the thing you want to do. Stratocaster, keeps walking farther and farther into modern mostly territory, not that they aren't good anymore, just don't represent the classic tones as well in that model IMO.
@@caiusmadison2996 - Sure but a tele can't get the same tones as a good stratoblaster. Positions two and four.
I recently got an ibanez az242f. Holy friggn cow man. Its got dual humbuckers, but its got fancy wiring that gives it 10 positions! All of them are so sweet...i dont have a costom shop strat, but i lived with one for a few years and really got to know it. My ibanez has better single coil tones by far...and the humbucker tones are amazing as well. It has Seymore duncan Hyperion pickups that were designed for the ibanez and they're amazing.
They call it the "AZ" as in it covers all genres from A to Z and my god does it ever.
@@TomTobin67 most certainly it cannot, but its a design issue. Gibson made a guitar in the 90's to illustrate exactly what I am about to say. It was called the Nighthawk, it had a 5 way blade selector, came with hsS configuration (humbucker, single, soapbar. Soapbar and single can be flipped). It also had both vibrato and stoptail versions, was 25.5" scale, but otherwise, set neck LesPaul. It is awesome, and DOES do 2 and 4 because there is a 2 and 4 to select. Dynamics, are very similar between both guitars, and these are rare as it is now, so I'll keep my 98' Nighthawk probably until they reissue a new one. I'll part with the classic, buy the new plus another great guitar. It's economics, and sound application of it if you ask me.
@@caiusmadison2996 - How did you like the blueshawk?
I'm right with you .. great choice ....my holy grail also my 1985 standard les Paul cherry sunburst
Nice guitar, you rock, girl! You did your research then you checked with yourself to know exactly what you want to achieve then you searched all the choices to find THE one guitar that fit your goal! Have I told you lately that you are one smart girl!
Awww thanks buddy! Love you!
Congrats and enjoy! Beautiful guitar...❤

Fantastic Video, thanks for sharing your experience, really enjoyed it 😀👍
Excellent choice!!! Congratulations!
You made the right choice in my book. You'll never regret it. I think it has the classic 490r - 498t pickup configuration. Maybe burstbuckers. Congratulations! Crank it through a tube amp and set the house on fire.
They are putting Burstbucker 61s into the 60's Standards. Those would be in the hotter end of the PAF range, but not as hot as the 490-498. Great sounding guitar!
It will definitely tear those down holy cow! Lots of sound and it does great of course with high gain!
Yes! Great bands!
Congratulations, that's one fine instrument and amp. I dig that burst and what a top! Flamed maple is just beautiful to me. One of the good things about going to GC versus buying a Les Paul, direct from Gibson, is that you can see the wood and finish, feel the neck and play it (obviously). If you don't know stuff like neck radius' and fingerboard radius', you can be disappointed with buying online but go to the store and you can tell, right away, if the neck hurts your hand or if the fretboard is too flat/round. When you're investing that much in an instrument, it's nice that the top pieces are matching, if not, book-matched.
I'm left-handed, so I mainly just use GC's website to see when there are lefties at their stores around the country (as they will ship guitars, for free, to your local store).
Right, good point! I wouldn’t want to buy a guitar sight unseen. And it does help to be able to feel the neck to decide what you think. And I’m actually left handed too, I just play right handed!
Awsome video - I love her passion. Nice guitar too!

Such a talented family. Enjoyed the video ❤❤❤
I’m so glad you had a great GC experience! My husband manages one in NC. 💛

Really enjoyed watching you buy your first Gibson Les Paul my first Gibson is a 2017 Les Paul Standard HP Blue Berryburst so with that said welcome to the pack.
My youngest son and I wanted to learn electric bass so we both got one and an amp at Guitar Center. We never had much time to learn it so sold them back when we moved Eastward. My brother closest to my age designs and builds guitars. He also made my mom an electric mandolin. He also collects guitars. He has Les Paul and who knows how many now. Guitar is awesome. My mom and 5 brothers are string players (violin, viola, cello, guitar, bass guitar) and Dad and I are woodwind and keyboard players. Glad you found the one you wanted!❤

@@thepressleygirls haha I knew it!! Been there many times over the years!!!

Really dig the fact you're left-handed and learning to play a traditional, right-handed guitar! I'm in the same boat, part of it was the appeal of a challenge in learning things that would appear "backwards" as a lefty, and part of it was the realization that left-handed guitars are still not as varied as right-handed guitars. Learning chord charts and reading things out of books in general would definitely be another thing to have to try and reverse or accommodate if you played a left-handed guitar, so I do believe it's a pretty intuitive choice to try and learn traditional! If you can get past the initial flipped feeling of the strumming/picking hand, which would be the right hand if playing a right-handed guitar, then I think you'll eventually carry over and progress with the same consistency as right-handed people have.
I prefer the dexterity and strength and grip on my left hand anyway as it makes me feel freer with the fretting aspect of it all! With a stringed instrument, things like vibrato or bending are possibility and I believe there's more nuance to those techniques if you are using your dominant hand! A few of the past legends, such as the great Duane Allman and Mark Knopfler, were left-handed and learned to play on right-handed guitars. Do you play fiddle right-handed as well? Very lovely video, happy that you could find one that played how you wanted and also looked appealing to you as well!
Hey thank you so much!
Yeah you’ve done the opposite of kurt cobain 😂
Awesome congratulations,enjoy...that LP
I love that sayin: "I could not live without this guitar" & Congratulations! Dear Guitar Center : I see another Taylor in my future...
Way better stocked than my local GC
Seriously - I am in suburban Philly, PA and ours a month ago looked like they were closing the store the walls were so bare. This wasn't a GC issue because the local Sam Ash also was anemic. Sadly, in the Philly area we do not have loads of independent dealerships like we used to back in the day.
That was my first impression. Up here, they really went to pot during recent events and locakdowns.
@@rdrake316 ha! You go the cherry hill GC? That's my local as well. I ended up getting a LP tribute. I fucking love it. But I digress, yes, for a relatively populated area, our guitar shopping choices fucking suck.
Same here. There 3 or 4 times as many guitar's in that one then mine...
Massachusetts is bone dry. Looks like the 3rd week of a going out of business sale in Attleboro and Braintree. Haven't been to Brookline in a long time.
Congrats on that beauty, those standards are amazing. I also have a Gibson bias but they truly are amazing.

Thank you so much!
You picked a beautiful Les Paul! That burst is a classic😁 BTW, thanks for reminding me to listen to REO Speedwagon again.
I love the burst myself! And hey your welcome REO is the best!
Awesome buy, that’s a beauty of a guitar and of course you can’t go wrong with a Gibson, especially as a first guitar. You’ll see that the Les Paul is a very inspirational guitar, it’ll push you to be better and to come up with great riffs and licks. I’m glad you mentioned Gary from REO Speedwagon, he was definitely a very talented and superb guitarist, very underrated but has a solid spot in the rock pantheon in my book. Also others you mentioned Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin etc are certainly big names to drop when it comes to influences so that along with a Les Paul and you’re on your way to an amazing and rewarding journey. Congrats on the new guitar and may you write many awesome songs with it, rock on 🤘
Hey thank you so much! Gibson is the best in my own personal opinion! And those rockers came way before my time but they are classics!
Great choice,..! I’m happy you went for the classic burst colour in the end…!! I have the same guitar in the Iced Tea burst finish. It’s heavy but the tone is amazing !

Great Choice! The Light Burst Finish of the US-Standards is my personal all time favorite, too.
This was great Katie! Beautiful guitar. I liked Corie’s video about her new Les Paul also. I think JR Cobb played a Gibson Les Paul on “Georgia Rhythm” with the Atlanta Rhythm Section.
Edit - it was Barry Bailey on Les Paul Deluxe for The Atlanta Rhythm Section. I grew up with bands like ARS and The Allman Brothers Band. Good stuff!
Oh that’s neat! I’ll have to check it out!
One of Top ten musical moments in my life was getting my first decent guitar. That was the feeling of a huge musical future opening up before you
Indeed! Thanks!
Congrats on the new axe. I know how you feel about buying a new guitar. I've had my Tele since the mid 90's. I learned to play on a Epiphone Les Paul. You picked a great guitar, hope you enjoy it for many years.
Thank you so much! And I’ll probably have to own a Fender too at some point! I want one of them all 😭😂
@@thepressleygirls Oh I'm sure you will at some point pick up a Fender, its always nice to have different instruments to play. Tom Petty and Mike Campbell compared their instruments to colors. The more and different guitars they played on each album gave those songs/albums different sounds and tones. More layers and colors like painting a picture. So anytime they started working on a new project they would visit vintage guitar shops looking for new "colors" for the album.
@@thepressleygirls Haha! That’s what happens! You’re screwed! Haha! Just messing with you. Congratulations! Great choice!🙌🔥
Tele's are beautiful as are fender jags 😍
