Was given a Breitling Navitimer as a present when I was 15 yrs old. To my shame I never really appreciated it and, when, some 8 yrs later, I went snorkel fishing & forgot to take it off, that was the end of that! I couldn’t afford to have it repaired so I literally threw it away. What a plonker! I am now over 70 yrs old and in a position to purchase a Breitling myself. Guess what? I am going to care for that watch until my dying day. To this day I cannot believe what a young idiot I was.

One my my long term goals has always been to own one Rolex , one omega, and one breitling. I have 2/3 with breitling being the last one I have to cross off. I might not be able to own the holy trinity of AP,VC, and PP but to me these brands are the three horsemen 💪

I own 2 Breitlings at present. A Navitimer Heritage and a Super Avenger MK1. I bought both brand new from A.D's in Leeds. I paid £2500 for the Navitimer Heritage back in 2005 and £1900 for the Super Avenger in 2007. Both substantially less than the MRRP. The Navitimer is just a stunning watch and is my most Favourite watch I've ever owned.

Finally someone said what needs to be said.....repair costs. Few think about this when purchasing. You think when you spend so much money that it would just keep on working for decades with care. I have few Breitling watches, however, if I would have known the associated costs of repair (all three needed repair due to keeping poor time after 4 to 5 years). With all the repair and servicing costs...I could have bought a Rolex. I put the watches away and purchased an Omega and it has been ticking away for a decade with no issues.

I have a Breitling Premier Heritage B09 Chronograph, pistachio dial. Mixed feelings about it. I debated between this watch and the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch but felt that the Breitling was more unusual, has less historical marketing emphasis (too much; enough already!), and is less typically owned by watch enthusiasts. Right decision?

My opinion of Breitling watches. The earlier ones are fine, as long as they are serviced, they will last a lifetime. I have a 15-year-old B/Coronagraph Thats works fine.
Now the latest ones. They look good but are at best rubbish. Having just obtained a new B. Navitimer 46mm, I know firsthand. From day one, it always gained around 10 Min: a day. Then within 11 months the winder stopped working. Ok a minor hick up, get it sorted under their guarantee. That turned out to be nonexistent. The repair shop wanted 600+UK to sort it out. Having contacted Breitling direct I did get a reply saying they were sorry to hear same. Asked the model No: and watch No: since then, Nothing.
Outcome unless I pay, I will be left with a watch that doesn't work so can't even give it away. Conclusion. If you buy one, just be ready to pay out for a useless albeit looks nice, timepiece. Oh, I will get a 1-year guarantee from the repair shop. If that'll be the same as Breitling's one. The jury is still out on that.
