I have these cards. Great memories. I collected as a kid with my brother. We quizzed each other by covering the names, we traded, and spent hours looking at them. Later on we bought some old packs that hadn't been opened. The gum was bad but I chewed it anyway. It instantly melted in my mouth and tasted terrible. Great memories from an amazing game. Baseball. ❤

the '85 topps set will always have a special place in my heart as probably the first cards I collected. opening a pack just reminds me of my childhood and simpler times. but this '86 topps set looks so good and one of the best designs they ever did. they look amazing slabbed

I wasn't a fan of the '86s out of the pack, but they've definitely grown on me over the years.

I was a kid and started collecting this year. Didn't keep them in good condition and threw'em away at 15.
I did have that Rod Carew card and Pete Rose card and I believe the Pete Rose special #5. Other cards I had that year which wasn't to many was-
    Sid Fernandez
    Billy Martin
    Dick Schofield
    Max Vaneble
    Lee Smith
    Tony Fernandez
A minted Cy young award card of Bret Saberhegan
A dream team card of Dave Winfield & Willie Randolph
    Dusty Baker
    Steve Garvey
    Bill Duran
    Candy Maldonado
    Sparky Anderson
    The rest I can't remember.

One of my favorite sets of all-time. Yes, it's considered "junk wax", and yes, it's not worth much, but it really brings back the memories and it's also quite beautiful.

Can’t say I was disappointed with the eighty-sixers -- just a little surprised after Topps’ colorful start to the decade. The 86 design immediately brought to mind the 1971 set, only much cleaner. The bold team names really pop on that deep black border and make for a classy look. What’s not to like? Yep, centering is tough and the black shows every tiny printing flaw. But if you’ve built a hand-collated gem set, it’s more than worth the work. To my eye, the 1982-1987 Topps designs (yes, 1987 too) is one of the best runs ever for the retiring King of Baseball Cards. And the bold, clean 1986 offering fits right in. Plus this era was loaded (as the Gods point out) with amazing talent, from the rooks and perennial All-Stars to the certified Cooperstown-bound. My biggest disappointment of the 1980s? The 1988 Donruss design. Still reminds me of an old scratchy blanket. Of course, people still hate on the 1968 Topps burlap design for the same reason. Except I love those. Go figure. But that’s what collecting is about. Beauty is in the eye of the pack ripper. (Seaver Note: Cubs are Northside, White Sox are Southside 😃👍)

Took me awhile to warm up to the '86s, but I agree that they fit right in with a great run from Topps. Thanks for watching!

Very hard card to get a 10 or even a 9 with the black liner. Over the years they seem to chip and crack.
