I stumbled upon this video just about a year ago. I had never heard of Home Free until then. I watched this video about a dozen time to convince myself they did not use any instruments. I absolutely love this group!
What an honor and blessing that Home Free has had the chance to sing with the great legend Kenny Rogers at the request of Kenny Rogers himself. While maintaining the respect and appreciation of Kenny Rogers, this sounded wonderful again. The voices fit together so well. With the great vocal percussion added, this was perfect. What a memory !!

Kenny Rogers was one the precious few country artists I cared for before Home Free won me over on the Sing Off, It's just wonderful that they got to sing with him -- a legendary collaboration. Thanks Teri and DJ for putting this one on tonight.
If you go searching for Kenny Rogers and the First Edition, back in the late 60s/early 70s, you will hear that same gravelly voice from Kenny Rogers when he was a much younger man. "Just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in" is the song you want to start with. Don't miss out on this one... Kenny Rogers started out as a Rocker.

There's a fan video where Tim tells the story of them ALMOST being on the tonight show with Kenny. Kenny invited them to join him but the weather prevented them from making it in time. But they went anyway & got to hang out & spend time with Kenny backstage. It's so sweet. They had an amazing relationship with Kenny. ❤❤
Kenny and Dolly Parton were good friends and did several duets together ... my favorite is "Islands In The Stream" ... think you'd love it !
Love your channel!💝 I had the wonderful chance of seeing them in concert in November and they were fantastic. This was one of the songs they sang with Rob doing Kenny's part. You should check out Kenny Rodgers and The First Edition they were terrific together. They had a television program in the 1970's.
While this is treated as a Christmas song nowadays because of the line about Jesus being born in Bethlehem, that's actually the only Christmassy line in the whole song. It's an old African-American spiritual and was originally sung all year round, so it's okay to react to it after Christmas is over.

This was such a great reaction. I've never been a huge Country Music fan, but my mom used to always play Kenny Rogers, and he was the big exception. Then I fell for Keith Urban, and Home Free made me more of a fan of well. Kenny IS a legend. This was one of the best groupings ever.
I love this collaboration - the singing, harmonies & beatboxing are all terrific. Kenny Rogers still sounded so good! Chris Rupp has a segment on his channel talking about the making of this video. After his passing, HF did a video of "The Gambler" as an homage to him. This would be a wonderful song for a Sunday School since all the verses are Biblical references.

Been waiting for you to do this one. Knew you would LOVE it! A fav they did with my favorite male singer, Kenny. His gravely voice was the best. Here are some of the ones I loved best -- be sure to listen to at least one, Lady for sure, Don't Fall in Love With a Dreamer, She Believes in Me, Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town, Lucille and what many sites and other singers consider one of the greatest duets ever, Dolly singing with Kenny -- Islands in the Stream. I grew up religious. I'm not anymore but man i love this song. It reminds me of the southern gospel churches where everyone is up singing and dancing.

Gosh this is a lovely song, not one I know (original or otherwise) but it reminds me very strongly of "Green Grow the Rushes O" which is apparently the Old English equivalent of this song. My family and I used to sing it (badly) on car journeys with my Grandparents so this whole song felt nostalgic even though I'd never heard it before. This was a total vibe and I adored it.
Kenny Rogers was one of the greatest growly singers of his generation and could do things with his voice that very few have or will ever be able to mimic. He was also one of the nicest guys in person too, just a genuinely sweet guy.
