Rachel, I thought one needs 3 to 5 years work experience under Pgwp in Canada to quality for PR, correct me if I'm wrong?
A good logical explanation, a thought process that's so important when making concrete long-term plans.
Not one of the. But THE ONLY WHOLESOME VIDEO on CZcams explaining each bit about 1year program and its benefits and repercussions. I am feeling so full of right information - with no doubts. This video goes into every nook and corner and clears all the doubts! Rachel, loooove it!
If anyone reads this message The University of Victoria has a diploma in business administration that has a duration of 2 years and the cost is only 15.000 CAD per entire diploma and it provides the PGWP of 3 years ... I'm going to start to study in May of this year ...
Thank you Jaime. Hope this information will assist others in providing them with another option. 😊

Yep thats true.. I'm planning to apply for this diploma..

Can I just say your video was by far the most helpful and realistic one I've come across here. Super grateful for you, Rachel taking the time and effort to explain and explore everything. I am applying for a 2 year post secondary program this September (even though I've completed my Bachelor's degree) and was in a dilemma about having to take steps backward. Your video has helped calm by anxiety on this matter. Thank you so very much! God bless x
Thank you for speaking so clearly and knowledged about this topic. So many times when I've asked about this, I get brushed off, when all I need is an example or personal story. Now I see exactly how things can play out, and it's clearer; and things continue to evolve, so no-one can tell the future about this process anyway. Being able to estimate future CRS score is a great help, even with so many what-ifs; at least you'll know what you're working towards. This is exactly what I was looking for. Continued blessings! I hope to get across this river real soon 🙏🏽💕
Thank you so much. It fuels me to be a better decision maker. You’re sincere on your points and I’m one of those who were enlightened. Getting a PR in Canada needs great preparation. Thanks for saving out time! God bless you

Yes its enough if you're coming with work experience from your home country. I did it. Do 1 year study, work 1 year, apply under Canadian experienced class stream (CEC). Get PR in less than 6 months. If you don't have work experience go for 2 years course or 2 x 1 years courses.
by 1 year study and working 1 year, did you take a gap year to work or did you work while studying for a year?

you are a sweetheart for uploading such a video, an eye opener!! It's such a dilemma for middle class parents like us :( Can i please please ask you a question. My son who holds an Italian passport would like to do a 3 year degree program in Canada.. Since it's so costly, I thought he could do a 2 year Diploma and apply for his PR so that he could register for the degree program and pay less tuition fee like the Canadians, but as you've mentioned it will take longer than 2 years to have the PR in hand? Whats the best thing to do? Hope you could answer me
1 year of studies is more than enough to get your PR as long as U aim for a provincial nomination instead of going for CEC. New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, PEI, Manitoba or Nova Scotia make it way less difficult.
hi if i aim for saskatchwan province, do i need to have work experience and a 1 year diploma in saskastchwan province only?(This is what SINP link states)
I love the methodology. It's so well prepared and presented. Thanks!
Thank you for this 🥰What if I have my husband with me in Canada as OWP, and by the time that I am still studying, he’s already eligible to apply in Express entry, can he include me in applying for pr?
Thank you for sharing your story. It's a valuable example.
Hello Rachel!!! Thank you for sharing your experience and helping future international students. I am enrolled for September 2021 intake. I will be taking 1yr program only and also thinking of the risk, however I came across this video about Bridging Open Working Permit. And I think I will be a good option for students who took 1 yr program only and can have a one year extension while waiting for PR results. I hope you can discuss further about this option on your vlog as this can be very helpful. Thank you and congrats on your PR!
BOWP have certain eligibility requirements. In short, I was not eligible and had to go from PGWP to visitor status. I am thinking about doing a video on this topic in the future!
Yea 2 year course would be best, bcz in three year work permit one can at least pay their loans 👍
Hi Rachel! Thank you very much for your help.
Thank u for this content Ms Rachel, helps us alot in everything to consider. One of ur vids about working as an Intl student even, helped us decide to save further and pursue education by next year instead. And now this helped us decide and go for 2yr study. Hopefully we claim it next yr. Bless u
My biggest concer is that when you go to Canads to migrate all that work experience and education in your country is back to zero. So its like jusy going to Canada as a highschool graduate with very little chance to get a job based on my work experience and education.
Yes, that's why you have to immigrate young
Kung paranoid ka mag study ka… pero kung 10 years ka na nagwowork at professional ka naman , at malakas ang faith mo…makakapasa ka naman. 25 years old no canadian experience pero nakarating ng Canada alone. No studies needed…Faith lang and money , lots of money.

Wow TALAGA!!
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks for sharing your experience but I have to disagree with you. Yes a 1 year certificate might be risky for applying trough Express Entry but people tend to forget there are provincial nominations. For example in British Columbia you don’t have to wait for the full year to gain the experience required for express entry… if you for example studied a 1 year program on a DLI, get a PGWP and find a full time job offer in NOC 0, A or B you can apply to PR trough your province. There’s a downside (if you consider it a downside) which is that you are “tied” to the province you got nominated from, in this case BC, therefore you are obligated to live in that province. It’s the same in Ontario but there’s a little bit more requirements and it differs from province to province. In Quebec depends on if you’re doing a graduate certificate, post graduate certificate or masters degree.. you know each province has its own rules. What I recommend is for people to do a proper research of how the provincial nomination works in each province because in most cases you’re not only saving time but money!!! Also if you can afford an ICCRC consultant, do it.. it’ll make things easier.
I love your videos, thanks for all the advices and experiences you’ve shared so far.
Thank you for the detailed comment.
I actually tried for the BC PNP. The only problem is the job offer. I worked for a big employer and the were unwilling to give me that job offer so I had to rely on EE.
Hello, thank you so much for the content!! I was wondering what does a "1-year study" exactly means. Is it a 2-semester program? 3-semester program? I would like to know the basis on which CIC considers the length of the program as 1 year so you can be eligible for CRS points. Thank you!
Do have same question
Clear and straight info, thank you so much for ur great info n experiences. God bless

I don't know if you'll see this comment but may I ask why didn't you wait in your homeland for the invitation? In the government site it says that you can be eligible for CEC even if you're outside of canada. Thank you for sharing your experience!!
Yes, that was very possible. I could have waited from outside of Canada but the logistics of coming back to the country during the time of COVID would just be difficult. It may take me several months to get in and restart my life again. So I preferred to stay back and process everything within Canada 😊🥰 hope that answers your question and I appreciate you thinking outside the box! ❤️
Your are awesome at what your doing, keep the good work going
I love everything. Smooth and detailed vlog.

If i study 2 different programs for 2 years, still will i be able to get 3 year work permit?
Hey Rachel, why didn't you consider applying for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) and continue working while waiting for your immigration decision?

your videos gave me a realistic vision of what I have to do .. thanks a lot !
Ceci, it’s good to know that you have gained some insight and are planning appropriately.
If I completed my 1 year study with a private college n get employment while my study permit is valid will I be to apply for an open work permit? Or apply for the express entry ?
I don’t think you’re eligible for a PGWP if you get a non-degree program at a private college. This means you’ll need to check other programs that you may be eligible for to work after graduation.
Shouldn't you have earned the 15 additional points for the canadian education on your CRS? Also, very helpful video, thank you so much!
I should have but I think they updated the changes after I submitted my Express Entry profile. But it should’ve been 465 with the new points system. :)
Thanks for this!!! ❤❤
Thanks for the detailed insights. Will factor them in while making future decisions.
Thats awesome,. Thank you for leaving me a comment! 😊
I feel like the main problem with 1 year PGWP is that you may or not be able to get 1 year of Canadian work experience to qualify for Canadian Experience Class, since this depends on how quickly do you find a job and how long it takes for your PGWP to be approved etc, am I right? I checked out my potential CRS score and I am feeling pretty optimistic (knowing French helps ^^), my only concern is whether or not I'll be able to fulfil the 1 year experience requirement :(
If you can avoid the one year program do it, a friend of mine had the same issue she had, is so so risky that way.
I would try to avoid this potentially disastrous situation. If you have to save up some money, then take your time to save up.
But in Saskatchewan province 6 month Canadian experience is enough to apply PR. So we can apply once completed 6 month work experience in PGWP. At the same time we have 6 month more on hand to Wait for PR.
Wow is that true? In noc b???so i Can study a 1 year program work for 6 month nd apply for m'y PR? Is this in the entry express or the province programme ?

It really depends. They have to be 1. Both part of the designated learning institution list 2. Both programs must be PGWP-eligible.
IRCC made a table regarding this matter found here: www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/study-permits/post-graduation-work-permit-program/permit.html
Look at "The student completed more than one program from an eligible DLI within 2 years."

This gal is going somewhere...she should be Immigration specialist or lawyer
The information is not too bad but people should give correct information. If you study 1 year you will get a 1 year PGWP, you study 2 years you'll get a 2 year PGWP (not 3 years) max is 3 year PGWP. If you apply for PR under CEC in Express Entry you can be outside of Canada you don't need to be inside Canada. She could have gone back home and work and come back as soon as she received her PR. I am not sure why the government created CEC saying it does not require education when in reality you can only get enough CRS points when you have education. There was only one draw during Covid 19 time that allowed CEC with CRS points of 75 but this I think is an absolute exemption on Feb. 13, 2021 inviting over 27000 applicants. For me the CEC is primarily good for students who study in Canada and get a PGWP and work in a NOC O, A or B occupation which as per requirement.
Katy, I would like to clarify some of your statements:
1. As per IRCC policy: a 2 year program MAY lead to a 3 year PGWP. The word may is used to give the visa officer discretionary powers in making a decision on granting a 3 year PGWP. In most clear cases, the student that studies a 2 year program gets a 3 year PGWP.
2. Yes, you are right I could have come back home. However, I took into consideration some challenges during that particular time, which was during the height of COVID. There were travel restrictions, rules, regulations and bands. There were also challenges of gathering documents that are located within Canada which requires personal authorization. All these documents, took some time to gather after I received my ITA. So, I decided it was better to remain here and wait it out. That decision turned out to be the right one as I was able to gather all my documents needed to apply for PR and saved a lot of time and money.
3. CEC is mainly for anyone with IN CANADA work experience. So, education is not necessary. But, in Canada education leads to a PGWP. PGWP is a type of an open work permit. There are not many types of open work permits. So, with a PGWP, one can get in-Canada work experience. Aside from an open work permit, there is a closed work permit which is extremely hard to get. So, in theory your statement is correct. In practice, it is not necessarily true.
4. There were many draws during COVID time. The one that you mentioned was just one of many.
