    I'm just blown away by the standard of craftsmanship of the deck. The fittings are truly beautiful, I imagine you boughtbthem, but maybe I'm gonna be corrected?!

    No matter what angle you look at a J class, they just look beautiful, that goes for this one too…… outstanding!

    Trully mazing work but how did you do to imitate the curved planking of the deck ? I mean how did you trace those lines initially ? using which tool or measurement device ?
    Also regarding the brass (?) chainplates, did you manufacture those yourself ? If yes were you able to source ready made items that required minimla mofidication or did you need to do it all by yourself from scratch ?
    I wish I could do the same but am at a loss in finding out how to get that result regarding both issues above.

      Hi, each plank is ripped on a table saw then flexed into position while trimming each end and CA'ed or glued into place one at a time with black construction paper placed between each plank for a caulked look. The chain plates were fabricated. www.onlinemetals.com/ amyajclass.com/building-a-j-class-model

    How do I get hard ware and those little brass decorations

    • @crownvalleytrans
      @crownvalleytrans  Před 3 lety +1

      Chain plates and mast plate are fabricated by hand and as for the helm and binnacle (let the search begin) Link for brass stock below.

      Hi Don, This was a scratch build using the original plans sourced from the Mystic Seaport Museum . Other options are laser cut frame kits or fiberglass. modellers-workshop.com/category/laser-cut-frames/ www.rcyachts.com/JClass.htm Read first amyajclass.com/building-a-j-class-model
