Most of our engines have a crew of four, including at least one paramedic. At certain outlining fire stations, there's a 2-person Brush Pumper with a paramedic, and these engines carry a total of three individuals.
No. Most firefighters in the US are EMTs. All firefighters in OKC are EMTs and quite a few are Paramedics. It also helps augment the EMS crew as extra hands if needed.
Engine 9 is a paramedic engine so they can intubate, do cardioversion and push higher level medications before the ambulance. The ambulance shown helps the primary ambulance service (EMSA) out during high call volumes.
I am a conservative dude that doesnt like wasting tax dollars on anything that isn't absolutely necessary. But dang, the city doesn't pay for wifi? Or freaking coffee? That is screwed up. You all deserve better. And as a guy that grew up with a mom that was a career cop and spent some time in law enforcement myself i certainly wouldn't take a firefighter's side if there was any reasonable way to make fun of them instead!
I remember touring station 9 when I was in second grade at Southern Hills. That was in the early 70s.
Nice seeing my old locker. Very strange not to see RL9, instead seeing a BP and Ambulance. My how things change!
Always look forward to new station videos. Absolutely love seeing the stations and rigs!!!

Anything weird about a fire engine going to a medical call at a nursing home?
