NO COPYRIGHT INTENDED!! My twelfth MUSE drum cover. Quite an easy song to play, good catchy chorus. Dom plays the Hi-hats on 8th notes, I'm feel more comfortable playing it as 4th. I think whilst doing drum covers it's good to be accurate, but you should have your own style. At around 1.33 the Muse track slightly dips in sound, I tried several times to fix this, but I can't resolve it. Anyway thanks for watching, Ben - Hudba

It depends what feels comfortable with you as a drummer. I'm a massive Grohl fan, he doesn't use the Hi-hat to keep in time. Dom uses it mainly to for that reason. When he plays live you can barely hear the constant 8th notes on the hi-hat anyway.
I only recently got into Muse and Dom's drumming, so playing constant 8th notes does feel a little odd to be honest.
But every drummer is different, that's what he is comfortable doing.

I like closing the hi hat on the quarter notes. It sounds just as good and it's less tiring.

I got in the habit of always keeping time with my left foot (it even messes me up when I play double bass -.-), but it's just too fast for me. Good to hear I'm not alone in that though.

@charmeleon10 It's called a China or Chinese cymbal. They're good effect cymbals to have. I usually use mine for accents. They are awesome cymbals.
damn I can't get the fHH right.. and for me it's pretty tiring, but maybe that's because I only play drums for 5 weeks now xD still, this was an awesome vid and very helpfull too!

@manmon77 i find it much easier to play eighth notes because i reckon it helps on the off beat bass notes :)
Shouldn't you play eighth note with the hi-hat instead of quarter ?
He is playing quarter on the high hat but it sounds eighth. Where is it coming from? From the original music I guess.
Yea or just the upbeats but not downbeat quarters.

@benpowellfforddlas A lot of drummer, including myself, also uses the 8th notes on the hihat to get a "feeling" of the groove.. That's also keeping time, but at the same time "feeling" the groove in 8th notes.. you know what I mean?

Bonzo wdpf the crashes and high hats are paiste 2002 and the splash is a k zildjian but I'm not sure about the other
8ths on the hi hat is very hard to play consistently at a high tempo, quarters is a lot easier, thats why 8ths is so impressive
