Today I'm looking at 3 midfielders Manchester United could look at to revamp their midfield under INEOS. Joao Neves, Joshua Kimmich & Martin Zubimendi all feature.
Joao neves isn’t a realistic signing 🤦♂️ that’s 2/3 our budget and doesn’t even fix our midfield. If both casemiro and amrabat leave, we leave Joao neves to solely do defensive work?
With Bruno and Mainoo being almost undroppable at this point, we need the third midfielder to add the physical strength, legs and defensive assurance. Joao Neves is good, but he is 5'7" and we shouldn't become a team full of talented short kings. Martinez is already the shortest cb in EPL. Same issue with Kimmich. Zubimendi is great, but I think Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern all want him. My pick would be Monaco's Yossouf Fofana. Basically I want a young casemiro rather than a young Pirlo or Kante in CDM. Ideally our third midfielder should have attributes that the other 2 dont, like height, physicality, defensive prowess, ball carrying... we need a physical specimen, capable of getting into a physical fight with big players in other teams. Imagine playing against Real Madrid with Tchouameni, Valverde, Camavinga and Ballingham. They are all just as technical as Mainoo, just as dangerous as Bruno, but also built like fucking athletes. Mainoo, Fernandez and Neves or Zubimendi would be at disadvantage. Also, we lack physicality in general. We have to compete with Arsenal, City and Liverpool in set pieces. And all of those teams have some tall and strong players. Everyone we are linked with are short players.
This video isn't really accurate tbh, neves is not a defensive midfielder, and his height is ok for a box to box cm, if anything he can be a deep line cm

Honestly I’d rather go with prem proven players like a palinha or hojberg, I think they are more realistic options in their prime years. They are both smart and physical players, and could really help solidify the midfield giving Mainoo and Bruno more freedom to attack.
If we get kimmich or neves we're going to flying next year as long as we get backups at there level so please let us sell Scott and Maggie to afford these fuys

mainoo's gameplay is not of a pure cdm he is a hybrid between a number 6 and number 8 his forward passes and dribbling is really great a pure cdm is needed
