I changed my 08 STS because I had condensation and sealed it with silicone after removing the condensation. Now my 08 STS-V has the same thing. I caused this at the pressure wash I think. I didn't think it was that hard, but without a video it could have been. Cadillac isn't the only one that is done this way, but it should have been designed better on all of them. Thanks!

One of the better automotive videos I have seen. Thank you for providing it for us all to use. If this really is a 4 hour+ job to complete, the Caddy Engineering team responsible for the design should be summarily executed in front of a firing squad for an unnecessarily complex routine maintenance task. I am not sure I want to do this myself, but unless I sell a kidney to pay for it, I may not have an option.

For those replacing the little tiny 194 bulb in front. You will most likely break the tabs when you twist the socket. By now, they are brittle from age. A rag, socks or some cushioning material is an easy fix to keep the bulb and socket in place when reinstalling it. Also... I accidentally pushed the lens of that bulb into the headlight assembly. This was a nightmare since the assembly is completely sealed and no way to get that bulb cover back into place. So, when doing the other light, I put some quick drying Super Glue around the back side of the bulb housing and it stayed in place perfectly.

Since the top of the bolt thread is behind the head light assembly, you can't apply any penetrating fluid to the threads.

Yeah I didn't look up a video before I decided to change a burnt out headlight in my mother's Cadillac for her... I could tell when I popped the hood the front bumper would have to come off. I proceeded to pull pins out from under the hood and the tire mount, I realized there are actually 2 10mm bolts on the 2009 STS my mother drives... I got the first one off and the second one you pointed out in this video, I could not remove from within her garage, because the bolt decided to spin... I thought it'd be a welded bolt... I then decided to look it up to see what others might have done. And you kinda skipped the process of you removing the bolt. Sooooo, I didn't see if you had any kind of issues? I couldn't tell on the car I was working on if the top of where the bolt is, if it's an Allen head or possible a hex head... Or maybe it was a welded bolt and it's broke, due to an accident of some sort... Idk... But I didn't have the car jacked up, couldn't remove the bolt on the one side... So I proceeded to put it back together... I agree this is a faulty in production to have to do so much to repair a routine headlight... #gearheads #mechanically #inclined

Definitely don't have to take the whole bumper off this is absurd to even tell people this..passenger side bulb was blown on my girlfriends took off the bolts and clips on that side only and got the headlight out just fine

At like 5:30 you skipped all of the difficult parts. It goes from pretty much entirely together to all the rusty intentionally hidden chinesium 10mm bolts out, the entire bumper off and the headlight housing out. Gee thanks... yeah "its not hard... its just a little awkward". Kind of like asking someone to hold the camera while you perform the important part of the procedure. Sorry I am frustrated like everyone else watching this video. Criticizing something you did for free. :D
