For the 1985 final I was on a huge tanker in the English Channel getting prepared to receive stores for when we docked in Europort the following day. I couldn't believe the match was still going on as it was so late when I finished work. Watched the final frame still in my boiler suit, all stress forgotten for an hour. Riveting..
I went to an exhibition a few weeks ago with Davis vs Hendry, and Taylor reffing, commentationg, doing trickshots and jokes. What a superb evening it was.
I went to a Davis exhibition once and was even lucky enough to get to play him! I'll put up that video at some point. I met Taylor at another one -very entertaining too.
A legend Steve Davis was my grandad watched the 1985 past midnight I was not yet born then but I have watched the longest video of the 1985 final here on CZcams the turning point of that match for me was when Steve potted the last red but failed to get on the pink snookering himself behind the yellow but he also tried to pot that difficult green in frame 9.
Thank you so much for uploading these i seem to vaguely remember seeing the Willie Thorne one when I was younger but the others are new to me and great to see
@@SnookerBreak I cannot describe how satisfying playing watching or reading about snooker is it is tactically complex thoroughly absorbing and endlessly fascinating
Yes. And how lucky was he where the balls finished up! Then he nearly fluked the black when he went for it in the green pocket and missed... I can't imagine how Steve Davis would have felt about that!
Like everybody in Dungannon from either side of the house we didn't go to bed until the 1985 final had finished. I had only.been working six months at the time, but didn't hear a word of complaint when I arrived late to work.
It's like the Kennedy assassination and 9.11... everyone remembers where they were for the '85 final it's so ingrained in our memories. I wasn't around in '63 mind you.
Here's two guys with each having a mind blowing crushing defeat over the other but only one ever gets mentioned. Steve beat Denis 9-0 in a final four years before the World Final of 85. It's strange how that embarrassing humiliation always gets overlooked. I'd love if Steve had said "okay let's talk about the 9-0 whitewash final for a little while!" It needs to be mentioned big time. I think it may be the only 9-0 final
@@SnookerBreakMy memory is terrible but I remember it. I don't know how Steve really feels but I still can't watch Dennis potting that black to this day.
@Snooker Break He did do Clive Everton. He also did Sid Waddell, Mark Wildman from the commentary side. Obviously Sid was darts. Also did Barry Hearn, Roger Lee, Len Ganley, Eric Bristow, Bobby Davro, John McCririck plus others. Surprisingly didn't do White, Thorburn, Charlton, Meo, Stevens( Was back in Canada so probably didn't want to do it) and Alex Higgins (can understand why on the last one)
Dennis "I'll never forget it" Taylor. Lovely. Funny how this now feels like an early predecessor of Stephen Hendry's Cue Tips channel :)
What a great interview. Two legends of the game. Wonderful guys. I miss snooker from the 80s.
Me too. It'll never be so entertaining again.
Why are you dull now? 😂😂🥳🥳
Dennis Taylor, we love you!❤

I had school the next day but fortunately I was allowed to stay up to see the end!

@@SnookerBreakWow! Please put it up 🙏
@@edmundpower1250 Hi. I have put up my frame against Davis on my channel already... it's called A Frame With Steve Davis.
He didn't slaughter Jimmy in 1984. That was very touch and go. Jimmy showed his mental weakness. But it was close.
Exactly Davis was 12-4 up but Jimmy White closed the gap and in the end only lost by 18-16.

Thanks for the upload
You're welcome. There'll be more of these soon.
I remember watching the Gary Wilkinson incident when Clive fell out of the commentary box. There was a snigger followed by a huge crash, so funny 😂😂😂
Thanks for the uploads , some really refreshing and rare stuff , got my sub 👌
Thanks. You're welcome. Plenty more still to come...
Steve Davis talks so much like Michael Caine. Proper South Londoner

Legend!
I always thought how awesome it would have been if Taylor had doubled it for the win.
Yes. And how lucky was he where the balls finished up! Then he nearly fluked the black when he went for it in the green pocket and missed... I can't imagine how Steve Davis would have felt about that!
It was obviously meant to be
Mark Johnston-Allen on turning professional was greeted at his first event by two people; Jimmy White and Dennis Taylor. Both true gentlemen
I have a VHS at home called Jim Davidsons snooker balls ups and both are on it
Any chance you could upload mate? Been wanting to see that one.
please upload and share it with us if you are able to do so
You just beat Jimmy 18-16, memory going Steve.

When Steves hair changed from Orange to Brown. 😂

Very true. Their head to head was about 29-9 in favour of Davis, I believe.
I was 14 during the 1985 final & I remember I stayed up late to watch the end. I was gutted when Steve lost.
I was 12. I can remember it as clear as day. I even remember sitting in assembly at schoool the next morning.

Thank you for uploading these - I don't suppose you have the episode where the guest is US pool player Jim Rempe, by any chance?
You're welcome. No sorry, I haven't. I wish I had done more of them.
Interesting.
What year was this? Early 2000s?
The series was from 2000, yes. It's a shame they only did one lot.
Do you have Steve Davis with Ted Lowe?
Sadly not, I'm afraid. I Have 8 in all. The others are David Vine, Virgo, Phil Taylor, Phil Yates, Reardon, Hendry and Thorne. They'll all be up soon.
Looking forward to.the reardon one
