Tekken 8 (Japanese: 鉄拳8) is a fighting game developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Arika. Bandai Namco Entertainment published the game for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on January 26, 2024. It is the eighth canon release and tenth overall entry in the Tekken series. The game story mode, titled The Dark Awakens, takes place six months after the events of its predecessor and focuses on the final confrontation between the main characters, father Kazuya Mishima and son Jin Kazama, with the latter wishing to kill the former in order to end the chaos within their family lineage. The game's story features 32 former and new characters, each with their own narrative that contributes to the overall story.
Development of Tekken 8 was first teased in August 2022 at Evo 2022, with an official presentation made the following month at Sony's State of Play event. Focusing on more aggressive tones, Tekken 8 was developed using Unreal Engine 5, and it features upgraded fighting elements and systems from its predecessor. Tekken 8 also introduces brand-new mechanics, such as the "Heat" system and "Tornado" hits. Arcade Quest was another addition to their online mode, which includes tournaments, arcade features, customisable avatars, and specialised currency that is featured throughout the game.
Game tests were held in July and October 2023 to ensure overall stability before release, and a demo was made available on consoles in December of that year. The game's first season pass, which included downloadable content and new characters, was made available during the game's pre-order period. Upon its release, Tekken 8 received critical acclaim, with many critics praising the game's overall progression in the series as well as its aggressive gameplay. Several publications have noted Tekken 8 as the best game in the series.[1]
Steve Fox is a middleweight boxing world champion whose ingenious technique and pace control in the ring have charmed countless audiences.Raised in a facility owned by the Mishima Zaibatsu, Steve went on a search for his real parents the moment he learned he was just a test subject. He encounters Nina Williams by chance and learns that he was made from her genetic material.
Although they are mother and son by blood, Nina has never acknowledged Steve as her own. To Steve, knowing his roots was everything. Nina, on the other hand, believed such knowledge to be a mere inconvenience.
The bell rings, wrapping up Steve's fight with his past. With his driving force in life gone, Steve becomes a husk of his former self. His training buddies Paul Phoenix and Marshall Law sense his desperation and come to his rescue. - Hry
I've been playing Steve since T8 launch, what i dont understand about the high ranks is how you're able to use so much ducking in(even with the cancels) and not eat a ton of mids, i try to do that but always end up getting launched
Hi Azul, thanks for commenting! that's a really good question.
Essentially we use duck cancels to harass our opponents for respecting our options that come out at immediate timings.
First and foremost you need to check your opponents with Steve's main standing counter-hit tools. Use B1 by default. If they are using moves that high crush or let's say you are trying to check them offensively, you should use DF2. If they are using fast moves that counter-hit your B1 and DF2, you use 121.
Keep in mind that your unique movement options such as UB3 (Lion heart) and your Right weave 1,2 are also useful in punishing your opponents disrespect.
Once they start to respect it. You can check them on one level of delayed timing. Try using duck f2 or duck 1 or even duck cancel into ws1 (can be used for counter-hit confirming).
If they are still not biting you can use Steve's extended duck options.
After all of these mind-games, you can start using your duck cancels. It's important to note that this gameplan is not linear. Good players will understand your intentions and call out your bluff if your offense isn't convincing enough. You have to create tangible results and introducing a little randomness goes a long way.
A good Steve Player will introduce these mindgames in the first round or two and will proceed to start his game. I try my best to emulate that.

So my question is can we do this by doing f3 then pressing R1(3+4) or we have to buffer 3 and then press 4. Can't we do by buffering 3 and then press the hair trigger R1?? I play on Dpad
