are you going to make a build diary update about this league? I've been playing shrapnel as i level in SSF on a 4 link explosive > trap and mine > charged traps > crit chance and leveling has been pretty smooth. Wondering about the phys magnitude transfigure and how your experience is going
Gonna have to thank you for even suggesting the idea of explosive trap. From the start of this new league, I've been blazing through content, and it's been awesome. Even loosely following your pob and guide has made me enjoy traps overall since I've dealt with the same kind of ai for years, and it makes setting up for the play style way easier. Also, I was lucky enough to get a +1 phys spell wand from the prison in act 1 and that's been so good. Good luck on your personal grind my guy.
I agree, if I had some confidence I would find the guy I would do it or if you aren't in a hurry its 100% worth. Good call out, I should have mentioned it.
It definitely was worth. Made labs much quicker and a zoomy campaign. The extra bags are great now while mapping and “free” power from whatever mods you can get from other ascendancies has been nice for mapping into reds. The shrapnel gem is amazing for clear. But the single target takes a while with it. Might go with a 4L shrapnel for clear and put the pure phys on the main links once my gear/tree can handle all the auras. Still need to figure out the “best” links for the pure phys Trans version.
The build is going really great for me at the. I am having some issues with damage but that shouls change with some more investment. Tankiness is really good, this is the first time i am playing an evasion build and having high evasion and spell suppression cap for free feels good.
Yeah, getting stuck in red t14 red maps. I mean I can clear them but its an uphill battle. I can't stand still and throw traps because the moment I do the enemy chunk 40% of my life with a melee hit. The traps I do throw are dodged by the hyper aggressive enemy with haste auras. Not sure what is wrong but thinking of rerolling.
@@xxPageProxx same issues here, but in my case its because of SSF. You should easily be able to get some gear if youre in trade. Look for +level of gems, added damage of flat spell damage. Invest into crits, maybe go 2x weapons instead of a shield if it can make you have more damage. The scepter that enables you to Scorch and Brittle also seems extremely important, with enough mana reservation to fit Skitterbots + Hatred + Grace + Clarity
Builds looks great - will be starting it! One maybe dumb question - where are we getting our frenzy charge generation from if we use sunblast. By my reading master sapper won't work right?
Am leaguestarting with this, did a test run yesterday and it went great. Are you able to advise on what crafting mechanics I should be doing once in maps to start crafting gear? Looking through the videos getting the metamods and purple + yellow lifeforce seem important

I've league started with Explosive Trap right away 3 times, it's some of the smoothest leveling I've done. I'd say it's probably equal to, maybe *slightly* slower than Armageddon Brand. You'd be fine going with it all the way. The thing to remember about Explosive Trap is that it only feels bad in mapping because there's so many enemies, and we instinctively want to clear out our maps and it's not the fastest for that, but in story mode you only really care about killing mobs that are in your way, and EP is more than adequate at doing so.
Yea I agree with you. I've leveled it many, many times. It's a fine leveling skill I just went a different direction this league to mix it up@@Subxenox15

@@fearlessdumb0thanks for the confirmation that going Explosive is on 75, and it's ok to go for it earlier. I found that the gameplay is quite satisfying with the trap compared to juggling all the rolling magma/firewall/fire trap etc.
Hi i decided to run sunblast my damage feels good (1.9m pob realistic) but i dont really know what are the trap throwspeed breakpoints with the belt. So how much trap throwing speed do we get before going to selfchill?
Do we know the mana reservation cost for the bark stuff ? If it's zéro.... I might use the midgame-tanky + bark.... that's a lot of tankiness for a trapper :)
I was thinking to go Oath of Maji with warden and get the 30% movement speed through campaign dont know if it was worth it. Wanted to know your opinion on using the ascendancies during campaign.
It’s worth, for sure. Im likely going to follow my usual MO of not interacting with league content until maps personally but if you found that npc right away it would be huge
Hi, I am very interested in league starting this. Do you feel this build can be ok for Ultimatums, Labs and Bosses? I am also looking at Caustic Arrow (poison, new gem) Pathfinder, and I struggle to determine which one will be "better"/easier, as well as SSF friendlier.
Regarding offhand gem leveling: since there is no vendor recipe for skill gem quality anymore, i dont really see a point leveling 6 explosive traps anymore.

Wow trapper in ssf again feels good man since they nuked vortex from orbit (Just pain). Wonderful template for me, made a few changes to suit my style but overall thank you for all your hard work.

I am having trouble with mana costs. My explosive trap costs 12 mana to cast. I only have 58 unreserved mana. I am using 10% mana cost reduction gems and -7 channeling costs on rings and amulet. It still isn't enough and im forced to use a mana flask. Is there a way to reduce mana costs further?
Have you qualitied your Inspiration? Annoint Dreamer on amulet? I bought an unveiled reduced mana cost of skills ring on trade and also benched non-channeling mana costs on it for 10c or so
There is a life mastery to convert 30% mana cost to life (use life on trap trigger to balance out the life cost), and you can craft mana regen on your gear like 2 sceptre.
Sunblast is amazing, but polarizing. I’ve done my last 3 build guides with it and many people have asked me for one without. I’m using a sunblast currently but will likely switch off of it once I get enough trap throwing speed
I agree with what you said, but I currently have the throwing speed, and it is still difficult for my trap to reach the upper limit unless I am given enough time to prepare, which is close to 7 seconds.

also i just did the swap to charged traps instead of swift affliction and gotten the medium and small cluster (i am level 86) Have 3k health and 1.5k es. Only defensive issue im struggling with right now seems to be the evasion. Im at around 22k but graced isnt 20 yet so might take a while longer. The build is really fun, just needs a bit of polishing from my end :D
Magnitude looks pretty busted for single target. I’m going to try a full cold conversion / Hatred / Cold to Fire test at some point early league. Even with the small explosion removal the base flat and effectiveness of added is enormous. Mana will be an issue though. The Shrapnel one looks sweet for clear but I want to try it first.

Can't skip 30ms and 50all res on the start, huge boost for a2 - early maps. Should be no problem to just use body/gloves/weapons for gems.

Skitterbots will trigger traps for you and grant charges with a Sunblast. You get them from Charged Traps

It’s an S tier bosser, for sure it will outshine bow builds there. Ultimatum is TBD, I’m not sure yet. Lab who knows, just run fast?

Added flat from the wands and a 3rd support makes the fight easy
