Hi, we're Beth & Paul from Brisbane, Australia and we love to travel!
Paul retired on 28th February 2020 and on the 1st March 2020, we set out on a 6-month adventure around South East Asia. This was a well-planned once-in-a-lifetime travel experience! It was our intention to show you how you can have a great time travelling without spending a fortune.
Our timing wasn't great - with the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus and subsequent global turmoil less than a month into our trip.
Until it is safe to travel internationally again, we turn our focus on travelling around Queensland and sharing everything our beautiful State has to offer!

We used to have over 60 when we were on the dairy farm 🐔🐤🐔🐄🐔🐄. I really miss living off the land. Thanks David, yes we’ve had some bad luck with the car. We paid for the repairs and collected the car on a Friday and then someone reversed into the side of it two days later in another supermarket carpark….so it’s in the repair place again right now. At least their insurance will pay for it this time and we’ve been given a rental car to use until it’s ready. We’re glad you enjoyed this one, we love living here 🤗

We’re really looking forward to when they are laying because there’s nothing like eggs from your own hens in the garden is there? What will you grow in your veggie garden? 🤗

We love where we live and we love sharing what makes us happy with this little community 😉 Oh and one of the black chooks is Milly, the other is Layla, one of the brown chooks is Isa (after the breed Isa brown), and the other brown one is Katsu 🤔 🐓

Thanks Patricia, yes we were stunned too. Our car was parked at the Woolworths undercover carpark in Maleny. They were near the creek and ran away. The car filmed it all but they were too far away and unrecognisable. It happened at 3pm on a weekday. We had the car repaired and the very next day Paul was at another shopping centre carpark when a driver reversed without looking and hit the side of our stationery car. Fortunately, their insurance will pay for that damage. What can you do? Just put it down to bad luck 🍀
@@BethandPaultravel that’s is just terrible. Loved the video and Beth you always manage to smile through it all. We had a new car a few years ago and someone in a big 4 wheel drive and they moved into our lane straight into our car. I know how it feels, it feels as though it’s not perfect anymore but it will be, they are so clever now. Keep smiling.xx

Love your garden so much! How can you tell those chicks would be hens ? I bought 5 chicks ( a couple weeks old ).. turned up only one hen and the rest are roosters 🤪🤪🤪
Thanks @Wak Julet 🤗 we bought the chicks from a poultry farm who say they can identify chicks at 1 day old…..they guarantee it 😲 They all look like hens…..so far. We love our garden too!

Hi Rod and Janet 😊 thanks very much. The car has been repaired but the people who threw the rocks were too far away to be identified. We love our garden and the chickens are growing quickly. We haven’t seen a snake since we’ve been here, but we saw one under our house a few times and also nearly stepped on one on the footpath at night when we lived in Brisbane (4 kms from the CBD).

Hi Beth and Paul, I've been enjoying your videos and your travels and your garden looks wonderful! I wonder if you could recommend any affordable accommodation up on the Sunshine Coast hinterland where a family of 5 with 3 small children (youngest is 3yo) can stay just over night? On another topic, what I only recently learned about the bush turkey was that the female who lays the eggs in his nest has already been mated by another male, and the one he mates will lay in another male's nest. And once the babies hatch, he will shoo them off by kicking leaves at them! And then they just get around all by themselves as chicks having to survive on their own.
Hi coco silk 🤗 We’re really happy you’re enjoying our videos 😊 It’s a little tricky finding accomm for 5 people for only one night but Tranquil Park in Maleny is a good option for families and Montville Holiday Apartments also looks like a good option. Tranquil Park has sensational views and Montville Holiday Apartments have a swimming pool. They both accommodate 5 and are not as expensive as other options. The bush turkeys are very active between August and December. The male (with a brightly coloured neck) will make the big mound of leaves, mulch, soil, compost etc. A female may come and lay her eggs there and then leave….but the male bush turkey will hang around the mound to make sure that the mound maintains a consistent temperature of 33c until the chicks hatch and then they are left to fend for themselves. Apparently the mortality rate for the chicks is high…only 1 in 200 reach adulthood 😲 We had a mound in our garden but a female never came to lay her eggs there…the male hung around until the end of the breeding season and then disappeared.

Yes @Old Goat! We watch Mark @Self Sufficient Me regularly. His videos are fantastic and he lives in south east Qld like us, so he has the same climate which really helps. His videos are an enormous inspiration to us and we’ve planted fruit trees, veggies and herbs thanks to his great suggestions and advice. We’ve also watched all his chicken and duck videos. We ❤️ his channel and he’s such a down to earth, happy Aussie bloke 🤗
