She describes girls being lured into prostitution with ads for nannies and housekeepers, only to find themselves chained up in a cabin in a logging camp. This was contemporary with Frederick's saloon/brothel enterprise. So far as I've read, it's made to sound like he wasn't personally involved in what was happening there, or like the women he was running were independent contractors there to get a piece of that Yukon gold the easy way. I'm not so sure. If girls were being lured to the logging camps of Wisconsin in the 1890's, why would it be any different in the gold fields of Alaska in the same timeframe?

Unless he went the other way...
Seriously, though, it would've taken about 3 (maybe 4) months, assuming he was traveling first class AND made all of his connections between boat and train.
However, you need to think in their times:
      1. While we may get upset a flight from NY to, say, London, is, "being delayed", it's usually in minutes / hours vs days/weeks.
Even first class passengers couldn't get the next leg of their travel (another boat, train, etc.) wait for them.
      2. When the weather dictates flying to Paris and catching a connecting flight to London, we make a mad dash through the airport, as we don't want to wait the hour until the next flight, nor get a Voucher for the tunnel connecting Paris and London ("Chunnel").
For the "tldr" crowd, it was sometimes faster to go about (around) the long way..

Those who knew about Trump from 80s and 90s knew he was a narcissistic con job. He was charming until he screwed you over by not paying for work done in his buildings. As for your comment about the democrats while historically correct, you have forgotten that it was the slaver southern Christian conservative states like South Carolina, Georgia, Texas Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana followed by Arkansas North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee that started the Confederacy. Notice something. All those states which were democrats are now republican and the liberal northeast which was the republican Union strength are now either democrats or trend that way. The parties have flipped orientation with the former liberal republican becoming liberal democrats and the conservative democrats becoming conservative republican. Try to think about why it is that all those slave states are now Republican. Was it because LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that the South began to drift to the Republicans? Was it economic? Racial? If you are honest about this you can see that the reddest Republican states today are from the old Democrat Confederate States. An honest person would research why. Can you do that? If you can do the work to understand why you believe the way you do I'll respect that. I was Republican from Nixon to GWs first term. Now independent that goes 70/30 Democrat because of research. @Dave A. Kennedy handed Vietnam to Robert McNamara who sent faulty, non chrome lined chambers, M16s to the troops. He did that after he was told by Eugene Stoner the guns would not operate as expected without the Chrome lining. Of course he did make one step first , he had his people see which would be more cost-effective, send the guns back to get them chrome-lined or pay for the projected military funerals. McNamara chose the latter not the former. So there you go Kennedy was such a bad president he delegated being a shitbag out to someone else so they could crap bag all over the place. That was the genocide of South Vietnamese people and American troops.

Anyone who was not white would not have been allowed to do what he did. Do you realize how impossible it is to replicate Drumpf's story today?
