Well I’d use them similar to livestock but not working animals. I know a lot of people think that’s cruel, but it’s not like I’m turning their young I’m going to veal. Call me old fashion, but I prefer to wait until the cattle is at a right age. Like saying he lived a full life and now death would be a reprieve. And besides they lived a long life and then their bodies won’t go to waste.
Also I would listen to them, if they told me that the area was too rooted and covered rocks. If anything they probably might have a good opinion.
And if they return saying that they’re free, well I’d say let them be free. I mean if they work for me for so long I think they’ve earned their freedom more than enough. Besides killing an animal is one thing but killing a sentient being that’s one step too far.
