- Blade of Agony is a super impressive looking Doom mod that puts you back in the shoes of B.J. Blazkowizc, what does the B.J. stand for? Not that you dirty buggers. Forgive any references I miss to Wolfenstein 3D in this one, not as well versed in this world as I am Doom.

If Doom, Wolfenstein, Medal of Honor and the BUILD engine had a baby, it would have four parents and that's something only Nazi super-science could dream up, but it would also be this incredible mod.

This project is largely inspired to Laz Rojas WolfenDoom works plus MoHAA, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Call of Duty (a bit) and so many other games which I don't prefer to spoil.
FYI better check inside the GitHUB Repo in order to get the most recent build of BoA.
You'll see that we heavily reworked ww-nazis codes thus implemented tons of features.
Also WildWeasel has been informed of everything and he agreed with our work, so everything's fine.
Well, how to run latest build of BoA?
Download latest build of GZDoom from here...

Then check for Blade of Agony there...

... then run the _zip.bat, build the pk3 file and drag-drop onto gzdoom.exe. Enjoy.
PS: You'll need a strong machine because of shaders, 3d models, 3d floors, advanced effects and so on.
MINISPOILER: Those futuristic weapons are a reference to a certain mod done by Laz Rojas.

@@slayer1584 I have developed the mod with an AMD 6core 3.5ghz (cpu is very important for GZDoom since it isn't multithreaded), GeForce 1030 2gb, 8gb ram under Windows 7, so something like this for sure. Consider to double video and ram for max settings

The soundtracks are indeed from the Medal Of Honor game on PSX and the whole mod is kinda based on a mix between wolfenstein 3d and and MoH. I must admit the guys have done a great job reproducing that mixed atmosphere and as you said we can barely noticed it's running under a doom engine.
Their attention to details like breakable mirrors, lights that can be turned on and off with a switch, explosive fire extinguishers and many other details normally not included in a mod with that much content. It's already really good and still a WIP that makes me think the final version would be more than awesome.
I definitively recommend this mod to everyone who love challenges and a good time in one package.

I really, really, really hope that this is released as an IWAD and that people make extra stuff for it. I love Laz Rojas' mods and I always wished they were their own game so that others could more easily build upon his work... :)
I was like "cool!" out loud when you expressed the same sentiment about the light switch. I saw one guy talking shit about that, but who cares - I used to mess around with making my own maps, so I was well aware that it's easily done with the base game, but that doesn't mean it's not cool! Like you said, little things like that that add to the interactivity are nice. And also, in most maps/mods I've played, that's not a super common thing.

I am a lifelong doom fan, (played doom 2 for thousands of hours when I was a kid in the mid nineties) and it’s really cool to see what people have done with doom. Especially brutal doom! It's such a tiny thing, but the fact they actually have doors open like, you know, doors, is more impressive to me than anything. Just because I've never seen it done before. Full admission, I haven't played that many Doom Mods, but the ones I have, that have tried out more traditional doors in design, still did the whole sliding up and down thing.
Really impressive, it kinda looks like the Build engine in this state. Which makes it even more impressive this is achievable with the Doom engine!
I'm getting a Medal of Honor vibe from the levels and soundtrack.

I downloaded this month a few weeks back and it was pretty cool, but there was a weird bug when playing on the hardest difficulty: All bullets would miss you if you stay on crounch stance the whole time.
Does anyone know if the 2nd episode is out?
Very cool mod I can't wait to play it when it's finished :) Can you do a video on Winters Fury? It has custom monsters and weapons also a cool story with cut scenes.

Does anyone else have game crash/freeze after buying vitality serums at the hub shop? It seems if I buy more than 2 per visit to the hub the game will instantly freeze up and crash. This is the ONLY problem ive had with this mod, I absolutely love everything about it and I hope there will be more chapters/ episodes in the future. We need more games that feel like MoH, the old MoH, cause we all know how WW2 games turn out by tripleA devs these days, theyve lost their touch. But the guy or people who made this, FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC WORK!

Did I do something wrong? Because the file I downloaded from the link in the description doesn't have any .WAD or .pk3 files in it, so there's nothing to run.
Edit: Figured it out. You have to drag and drop the entire zipped archive onto the GZDoom application.

My one complaint with this mod so far is the music from Call of Duty that plays during the first level. That track was annoying in COD and it's annoying to listen to on a loop here too

How the hell do you get the thing to work, I installed gzdoom, have Doom in the directory and dragged the maps into gzdoom but nothing. How did you get it to work?
I've played so much fallout 4 recently that every time he opens a door i cringe and await a loading screen and realize its just doom.

***** I have barely scratched the surface, but I'm having a blast! SrgMarkIV has done a great job balancing the ammo given with the number of enemies. It makes you pay more attention to your ammo. This makes battles much more tense than playing the original WADs with the Brutal Doom mod.
