- Today we share our experience with 6 months of retirement cruising. We booked 8 cruises to give us a taste of what it would be like to retire on a cruise ship. We made a decision on what it would be like and if we would do it again. We also made some decisions on how long we would spend on a cruise ship at once.
I spent about 10 months living mostly on cruise ships last year, and I've concluded that it wasn't quite as 'luxurious' a way of life as I'd expected. I jumped across 19 different ships, but in hindsight wish I'd spent a little longer on a few of my ships, as I was always jumping around, and packing/unpacking!
A long cruise becomes a lifestyle, not a vacation.
But...What a great lifestyle.
Successful people don't become that way overnight. most people see at a glance-wealth, a great career, purpose-is the result of hard work and hustle over time. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life, 🙏🙏🙏
I agree with you, you've remind me of what someone once said "The mind is the man, the poor is in it and the rich is it too". This sentence is the secret of most successful investors. I once attended similar and ever since then been waxing strong financially, and i most tell you the truth..investment is the key that can secure your family future.
I urge everyone to start somewhere now no matter how small, this is literally the time for that, forget material things, don't get tempted,i became more better the moment i realized this.
yeah investment is the key to sustaining your financial longevity but venturing into any legitimate Investment without a proper guidance of an expert can lead to a great loss too
exactly! That's my major concern and what kind of profitable business or investment can someone do with the current rise in economic downturn
We are a 6 figure income couple and had very little saved and not much cash lying around the preverbal". '...don't have $500 for an emergency" that was us. The big thing was debt all kinds of it, cars mortgage (although our home isn't a high price one), student loans for our kids, and of course credit cards.
One day we just got sick of being broke and went total scorched earth and became frugal overnight. Paid it all off, it took almost 5 years but now we have no debt and this year our savings rate is 50% on basically the same income that had us perpetually broke.
So for us it is mainly staying out of debt and watching our spending, at first it was a real effort to save in our HISA and 401Ks but now it's actually fun watching our money grow. No car or vacation or neighborhood is worth being broke or financially unstable.
1 a month works best for me. Somewhere between 7-22 days. Starlink on ships makes a huge difference especially on a trans Atlantic. I think it is nice to send the laundry out and it comes back all folded. Having status on lines helps too with the cost.
I liked your views of Virgin, taking everything you don't like about cruising and got rid of it. Taking notes!
Another fun and informative video, Allie and Rob. I loved the views and your candid comments about each cruise. Enjoy Vietnam 😊.
Hey guys, I enjoyed your video. I live in new york city and have sailed out of it three times the skyline alone is just worth it.
Enjoy all the channels
Came over from Tuberchat. Thanks for the videos.. More Binge watching.
Love your channel! You two are awesome!
Thanks for the info on Virgin. I’ll have to check them out.
Great video guys, would be good to get a idea of costings
Do you guys have a favorite website to book cruises? I would also love to see a video on the best way to book cruises. The pricing is just so dynamic and all the different options can be overwhelming. Thanks!
New York may be a great port, but it takes two days to get to the Caribbean, and two days to get back. Not for me. I prefer to sail from Ft. Lauderdale.
Cruising is my thing.
Can you discuss how you afford all of your trips. Please be honest
Honestly I prefer the newer ships, I need to feel like I’m on vacation with all the nice things. I miss making my own coffee if I’m away for too long on any vacation especially a cruise.
How much did all these cruises add up to?
How do you spend the day in Tampa when you are waiting for the train North. Luggage etc.
Could you do another video discussing your strategies for packing for your full time travel lifestyle? How do you decide what you take and what you don’t? I know how to travel lightweight for vacations. I expect it’s different when you begin LIVING/working full time in hotel/train/cruise rooms. Thanks! ❤ love the content
Do you use points for cruises? If so, how? Thanks!
How did you manage laundry?
Most cruise ships have a laundry service where you fill up a laundry bag and place it on your bed along with a itemized list of the clothes articles and it will be picked up, washed and dried and returned within 24 hours.
Certain things you can was in the bathroom sink with a bit of detergent and hung up to dry.... you can do this overnight.
You don't seem to have considered the issue of medical care, which becomes an increasingly important consideration with the aging process. My wife and I live in a retirement community with about 200 residents. There is at least one ambulance arrival daily! This is not even considering the increasing need for routine medical visits and specialty care which is inevitable with aging. Try and get these services on a cruise ship.
i can do 6 months on a ship
Just can't help remarking how (potentially) ironic the title is. If you ignore "Life" as redundant, it becomes "Grounded Cruises", and of course "Grounded" in its simplest meaning ("on the ground") would never include cruises!
Their life is grounded. Firm hold on life. Not how they travel.
We are doing 3 back to bank, staring in April, a TA on Ascent, from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona, the 3 day break before boarding MSC Grandiosa for 7 day Med cruise. The fly to Heathrow, bus to Southampton ten onto P & O Britannia for 14 day Northern Europe/ Scandinavia cruise. 40 days total…we’ll see how it goes
Good luck! LOL. I got tired just reading it! Have fun!
