Hey everyone! Join me as I watch Megamind for the first time today! I could not stop laughing at this movie as it got funnier and funnier throughout the whole time. Megamind is without a doubt one of the funniest movies I have ever seen!
Though he is the most-brilliant supervillain the world has known, Megamind (Will Ferrell) is the least-successful. Thwarted time and again by heroic Metro Man (Brad Pitt), Megamind is more surprised than anyone when he actually manages to defeat his longtime enemy. But without Metro Man, Megamind has no purpose in life, so he creates a new opponent, who quickly decides that it's more fun to be a bad guy than a hero.

Metroman's message is often overlooked, it's alright to help others and all, but you are not responsible for anyone's happiness, you should come first on your list of priorities, and no matter how much better the world would be with your help, if you are not happy, then what's the point? Do what you love to do and be who you want to be, and don't let anyone or anything stop you or make you feel wrong for doing so.
We need more famous heroes that have this mindset and be selfish with their motives for themselves

This is the first Superhero/Villain film where its self-aware about Villains being bored when they try to Take Over The World.
One thing I think is a great detail is when Metroman says “and I love you random citizen” is a subtle dive into his mental state. Because that line shows that these are all just random citizens to him, he doesn’t actually care for them at all. If he did care he would’ve said something like “and I love you sir”
It's not that he doesn't care, he's not evil, it's just that in the end while it seems personal to each of the people in the movie in the end these are all strangers to him. And people have to realize that.
Well its heavily imolied neither megamind or metroman are serous their playing a game neither eants to hurt the other

To answer your question with the Villains, Joker would be the same as MegaMind if Batman would die, all he ever cares about is his game between him and Bats and he doesn’t really want to kill him, Lex Luther if he were to kill Superman would just go along with his other plans, the reason he hates Superman is because a being like him with so much power he sees as a detriment to the human race as they would be way too dependent on him and impede their progress as a race so removing him from the big picture and taking over are his goals for mankind

Iirc, there was an episode in a Batman cartoon series where Batman was presumed as killed by the Joker and he ended up grieving and feeling empty without Batman having to stop him.
Also thanos plan was retirement. Thanos was only a villian to the audience, in his mind he was a hero. Literally his whole point was to help the universe and then relax after his mission is done.
@@n.t3026 That isn’t Thanos’ plan, that’s not even the true Thanos, the real Thanos from the original source material, or the comic books was a blood thirsty apathetic killer. He cared nothing for his home planet or family. All he cared about was conquest and his goal to win the affection of Death itself, who for some strange reason is a living entity and is a woman. MCU chose to revise Thanos in a way that it’s not even him anymore, he’s become some self-righteous villain who wanted to wipe out populations just to maintain resources. Marvel in recent years has been completely changing their own characters for the worst and it’s a real shame that people who are learning about them these days don’t even know what they originally or what they were truly capable of. One example is Thanos beating Hulk in Infinity War. Thanos stomped him in that Movie yes, but the real comics Thanos feared Hulk, he knew he could take him on but the Hulk is so powerful that he could potentially leave lasting damage to ruin all his plans

and that sounds cool but I think the way the mcu did it was good, having someone whos pure evil as a villian is boring and not possible to sympathize with. Its more interesting and engaging the way they did it in infinity war
when I was a kid, I hated metroman for his reasons, but now I'm grown, I completely understand metroman
Metro Man was tired of always being a hero. It's not that he dislikes saving people, but rather felt like that he never really had a choice.
He decided to MAKE a choice, and chose to give up crime-fighting and go into retirement.
He away be of what the city love him to be, there savior. But now he realized that he should have someone that he love to be instead.
Yea both megamind and metroman are emotionaly inmature its a game to them but they also have alot of exspectations on them it clear neither hatenthe other neither want hurt the other its just a rivalry
He didnt get the choice like a child being told what to do he is growing uo by wuiting and megamind is growing up by becoming more emotional
To be fair. The first hint that something was off should have been A. The whole skeleton was still connected and B. How would the Cape be the only part of his outfit that would survive
It's a cartoon, I'm sure very few people speculated something was off.
There was also another hint where Megamind trapped Titan in a copper cage, but Titan was able to get out of it, hinting that Metroman could have possibly not been allergic to copper.

I actually would have been more suspicious about the size of the chin, like I am not one to make too many complaints with anatomy and character designs as people generally should do as they please. However, Metroman seems to have a very well larger chin than the lower section of the lower jawbone on the prop.

They did do a story on Joker believing he killed Batman and I believe he became sane again. There are also stories where Batman vanishes and he gets bored or goes catatonic.
Now, Luthor, on the other hand, tends to want to be in charge and sees Superman and all other superhumans as impediments to humans becoming the best they can be and, of course, Luthor leading humanity on that path. He's not quite as psychologically dependent on Supes.
Megamind's old man costume is a reference to Marlon Brando playing Superman's dad in the original Superman movie.
well it was just some nerd that accidently, "killed" batman and of course Joker wasn't smiling then so to quote him, "without Batman, crime has no punchline"

@@benraunio4692 yeah it's why I don't understand the whole pity for the Joker thing. He commits crime for laughs and pleasure because he is psychotic. Batman tries to stop him and puts him in Arkham asylum where he puts all the villains because he doesn't believe in killing and wants them to be rehabilitated so no one gets hurt anymore. Now batman is the bad guy. I don't get it.
If ya'll are talking about the Animated Series episode, at least there Joker has someone to direct his anger towards, as he tries to kill the one he thought had killed Batman.
I don't think too many have any sympathy for the Joker. Maybe for who the Joker once was, but even then, that's sort of a choose your own origin thing. No one knows what's 'real' there.
24:12 my favorite scene in this movie is actually the one when Tighten is holding Megamind up:
Tighten: “This is the last time you make a fool of me.”
Megamind: (looks back at the car) “I’ve made you a hero. You did the full thing all by yourself.”
The reason I like this part so much is because not only is he saying the truth, but he’s doing it deliberately to get Tighten to punch him.
(if you notice as he’s finishing the sentence he’s wincing he’s preparing himself for the hit)
Because he knows that the head is going to make him sell all the way across the street next to the car.
The explosion scene is the funniest explosion I’ve seen in a kids film. Also I loved that this movie wants you to root for megamind(now anti hero).
More of an antivillain. He has the status of villain but is good inside. Antiheroes are bad inside.

11:10 well if Lex Luthor or Norman Osborn won they'd run for mayor or become president while running the criminal underworld in the shadows. They've done it even when the heroes are alive, so those two do have other goals. The Joker however, has said before that without Batman crime has no punchline. He'd be just like Megamind, wondering what to do with his life.
In one story where Batman gets infected with Joker Gas,
Joker thought: "if Bats becomes the Joker, then I need to become the Batman"
So fun fact in the beginning of the movie if you watch Megamind's screen very carefully you can actually see MetroMan appear for a split second behind him and leave

I heard the director described this movie as Elvis vs Alice Cooper pretty accurate if you ask me. BTW if you look at Roxann’s clothing you can actually see the progress of her and Megamind’s relationship because she started in red which is the opposite of him, when Titan basically kidnapped her she’s in purple showing her falling for Megamind and at the end she’s in blue
Something I just noticed: when they use the watch, the only thing that doesn’t change in their appearance is their eye color. Megamind’s eyes are green and Metroman’s eyes are blue. So when Megamind fights Hal while disguised as Metroman, you can see his eyes are green.

Honestly, one of my favorite movies ever. I love watching it with my kids. The soundtrack is amazing and I laugh through the whole thing.

I love Megamind and if there's a Series that you should watch that's so good,Danny Phantom is one masterpiece that deserves more love and attention.

The Hug Scene Almost Reminded Me When Penny Gives Sherman A Hug
Have you ever heard of Gravity Falls? It’s a Disney cartoon with two seasons full of fun jokes and sometimes dark themes that make people question if it’s really for kids lol. Or just adult jokes that kids will never understand. Although it *is* targeted for people of all ages, it has huge mind blowing mysteries that’ll definitely keep you on your toes! And I guarantee you’ll cry by the end of it. I definitely suggest checking it out if you haven’t!
I love the detail that when ever they use the watch to change their appearance, their eye color never changes.
11:08 Actually, there where several points in the comics where Joker and Lex Luther had to change there moral.
Particularly with Lex, after Superman died Lex created a robotic Superman suit and took up his mantle while also keeping his own beliefs and pretty much almost killed the world.

This was directly stating that metroman and megamind fighting was just a game to them no one was actualy getting hurt thats why he says time out and tries to put rules in olace with hal because to them it was two childhood frienemies just playing at a rivalry

There was a comic once about that where Batman was killed by Joker, and Joker realized that now his life had no meaning, so we went on to be an actually decent person, and when he learned Batman was actually alive, he became a villain again.
For TV shows, have you seen Gravity Falls and/or Over the Garden Wall? If not, I *highly* recommend those and they're both pretty short-- 2 seasons and some shorts for the former, 10 episodes and a non-canonical pilot for the latter.

theres a frame of this movie during the split screen of Megamind yelling and Metroman looking unamused when you can see him flash by in super speed. Its INCREDIBLY hard to miss but its an amazing detail by the animators
There actually is a comic where Joker kills Batman. In any version of the event, he realises he’s lost his will to be joker and becomes a normal person with a slightly deranged sense of humour.
This movie is so underrated, it gets one short film and Megamind is immediately set aside for Trolls
It's getting a TV series now.
Let's just hope they make it high-quality like the first movie was.

It got confirmed few weeks ago that megamind is getting a animated series that takes place after the movie. As much as i honestly wanted a actual sequel movie, i'm still so happy that dreamworks is finally giving megamind a bit more attention now 😄

The Space Dad character Megamind is using is a spoof on Marlon Brandow who portrayed Supermans father in the Christopher Reeve movies.
In the town hall you can see the Ark of the Covenant from Indiana Jones how Megamind stole it I will never know.
Megamind mispronounces words because he learned them from reading rather than conversation.
Plus his primary definition of good and evil was based on his rivalry with Metro Man.
