I was scared as hell in the archve tunnel running from the water monster. Im closing doors behind me white knuckling my controller. Meanwhile you are casually hopping along lol
At 20:38, I saw another player open that door without the acid, just placing a chair in front of the door, having a servant bang on it, and opening the door.
This is crazy! I'm curious if during earlier runs you felt tense having to run past monsters. Thought your actions made light of the danger, at least seemingly since you still dodged them with skill, I felt like covering my face at a few points xD Reaching the door out of storage and the ladder in the sewers were the scariest bits. Great run!
Storage is never scary in runs. After practicing it you realize that the monsters can't catch up to you unless you get super stuck somewhere which is hard to do. The sewers chases on the other hand are pretty scary. There's a new strat for the 1st brute that makes it impossible for him to catch up which wasn't discovered at the time this run was done. The 2nd brute chase really gets your heart going. You have to turn all corners super well, keep jumping to increase movement speed and just pray the brute get slightly confused along the way. Chancel 2 (before entering inner sanctum) is also spooky as the monster can sometimes kill you. You have to really pay attention.
It's only works if the map is loaded with "slippery physics", and slippery physics has a low chance of happening everytime you load into a map You can make slippery physics happen 100% of the time now by doing the following: Right click on the .exe and go into properties, then compatibility, and enable compatibility mode for Windows 7
I really consider if should speedrun this game once more as my PB (verified) one is 50:55 and i didn't back then even implement most strats that i see you use. I did do offline runs and implemented most but due to OBS messing everything up, the video file was lost, which is shame. i can't remember the exact time but recall it was like 2-3 minutes ahead. PS for the wine cellar: Put chair or something else like barrel to the door to block it from going shut when rocks fall, you can save few seconds that way (its very risky strat to pull BUT if done correctly, worth it).
You should for sure give it another go! The reason I don't use a prop to block the door is because I use the method of slightly adjusting the plank that is over the door before I go grab the calamine. In this video I failed the strat and I had to move the rock, but if the strat goes well there will be nothing infront of the door. I don't want to lose time grabing a prop and setting it up
@@cakeri well I got back to speedrunning last night and despite bit of rusty feeling, most strats are still in. just Sewers is my weakness (brutes are pain in the ass for me). Other than that, I would say just need bit of polishing. i think around 49min time is in cards if would get everything perfectly. or even 47 if truly push it. beyond that times like ones you've done seem so ??? level for me XD

If this was the actual speed daniel was going, I don't think the shadow would've even had time to catch up in the actual story of the game. Whereas other players take hours to complete it and it's speed more realistic there?

Always nice to watch these runs. I'm never brave enough to do some of these skips whenever I speedrun this game. I'm happy with my 49min PB.

the shadow most likely has torn up the whole castle there should obviously be some openings which Daniel could use to escape
