Didn't know Greco was making the Ric replicas all the way in 1991. I have a solid contact in Japan searching for one from the mid- to late-70'S for me. Fantastic basses. And your playing . . . .
@@SimbosanI ended-up with a '74 Greco RB 800. A keeper for sure. I think better than a Ric (which I have had and sold). I actually have several vintage Grecos (also a '73 JB420S and '78 PB450). Best production basses at the time, as far as I'm concerned..

Wicked chops! Supposedly I have a 1974 RB650, The back neck plate only says "Made in Japan". The binding is checkered. The word 'Greco' is alone, small and more centered in the truss cover. Neck pup is toaster-style. I am happy to own it, but looking to ID the year.
@@yamasaki Can you give me some tips on how to get a sounds similar to yours in this video? I acquired a Greco copy too (Jetglo color) but can't really make it sing like you do in this video. I notice that you are using the Avalon preamp. Are you by any chance using some of the filtering that the Avalon includes? Those filters can clean the sound a whole lot.
Great playing I just got a guitar like this, the 700 model. I’m a guitar player so can’t tell much. It was just beautiful looking. Are they good? I noticed the frets are really low
@@yamasaki the middle position on the Greco sounds so close to a Rickenbacker in the neck position. There's a video on YT comparing a Greco to a real Rick.
My Rick 4003S has independent tone and volume for each pickup. I was trying to get this sound and its not dificcult, simply reduce a little bit the volume of the bass pick up and oll off his tone y the middle position of the switch with vintage tone set to on. Plus a compressor and a valve preamp or similar. Mine is a Hagemann 12AU/ Valve into a EBS compressor set in the tube mode.

I just saw a '79 Ric copy Greco on Mercari here in Japan for like 70,000 yen.
This as good as original Ric .use to pplyy gigs on such bass.:-).
