In my mind Mike is torn between El and Will and that why he doesn’t say I love you because he realize he has feelings for Will but doesn’t know if Will feels same and after the speech he thinks totally El commissioned the painting coz he’s oblivious. 🤣 I think that’s v reasonable interpretation. They were v vague but 💯 Will likes Mike for sure!
