@@kawi704racing ahh, i guess you're right. i can see that being a massive problem if you're riding in traffic or through a turn. I was just picturing open road cruising, then your throttle gets stuck while you're trying to slow down a bit. wouldn't be very problematic in that scenario, mostly just annoying. I can see how this could very quickly turn to a trip to the ER or the morgue.
@@Andrew-sv3ck it happened to a friend of mine whom throttle suddenly began not to go back and he had to turn it with force for the engine to decelerate
I’ve had shavings build up on the handle bar and it causes my throttle to stick. Pulled the grip, cleaned it out, put it back on and worked fine afterwards.
Get an atlas throttle lock, its the same as the guy in de video, but if you install it correctly, it wont cause problems. Requires some patience to install, but is very easy to use. When you press the bottom button, a friction pad will engage with your throttle housing to keep your throttle open at the set position. Also allows for tiny adjustments on the fly, as opposed to locks which use the brake lever.
@emailjibudhan well you're much safer now and that's the plus! You can purposefully add in the 'cruise control' with a proper throttle hold setup... it's always within reach; better when in-control, than non-controlled!
Something I found last winter. If you use a protectant spray for the salty season, make sure to lube up your throttle mechanism near the injectors. Mine was defo protected but... Was a little sticky thanks to that shiz xD.
Don't grab!!! 😂😂😂 that's how you flipped... the key is incremental pressure from 0% to what eventually stops your momentum! I don't understand why it isn't second nature for that rider not to use his clutch? Clutch is KEY, it's one of the 4 things that grants you control over that metal steed!
My little rebel 250 had a bend in the throttle cable when I got it. The new cable works very well, and I get to enjoy my trips around the neighborhood : )
I have also seen this with heated grips and aftermarket bar ends. When the grips were heated they expanded an the grip was pressed because of the bar end (rizoma bar end). Using a washer fixed it. But it was only on highest temp setting so not noticeable when installing. Watch out for it
As a mechanic i have also seen bikes where the bar end weights is screwed in too tight, my main customer has this problem due to the bar end weights mounting assembly being just slightly too small so i have a simple fix for it is a couple layers of electrical tape on the threads, that way i am able to install them on his bike correctly so his throttle snaps back and the bar end weight doesnt vibrate itself loose.
And on Hondas with the dual cable throttle, if the cable tension is too tight it will be stiff and possibly even hold it’s position. On my nighthawk it would even add throttle at full lock
Also another problem can be dirt in the throttle cable housing on the handlebars. I had issues with my throttle sticking on my enduro bike. Just take apart the assembly, clean and lube. Worked almost better it felt like.
Been an MX tech for 18yrs and raced for 30+ yrs. Had an 01 KX250 and for some reason when hitting whoops the throttle would stick wide open. Once I killed the motor....it was fine. I went through EVERYTHING it could possibly be and never figured it out. I got used to it but seeing my buddies on it was comical
I had it happen to me twice luckly i dont have a big motorcycle. Also lucky for me I usually do 140 to 150km a day on my bike . Both times it happened i didnt fix it till i needed it to be fixed for when id take my bike out for a fun ride instead of just commuting since it was very useful like a cheap cruise control.
Bought a used fz6. Throttle wouldn't snap back. Tore it down for a rebuild and found out why. The bottom have off the return cable was missing about halfway through the bike. Cable, shielding.. all of it. Gone. PLENTY of other issues along with it. But when I'm done I'll basically have a brand new bike for less than 3k so I'm not complaining 🤷♂️
On my Bandit 600(97) broke throttle tube. Like little piece where cable is installed and makes cable drag in housing. Thank got the housing secures the cable in throttle tube.
I had on my bike a palm rest on the throttle grip when I first bought it. The previous owner installed it and it’s convenient only in few to none situations due to the fact that whenever you steer to the right it can get stuck in the middle of the tank cover and the frame so me being meticulous I took it off immediately
May be a dumb question, but if you’re cruising or going on a highway and let’s say you accidentally hit your kill switch, would you lose control of the bike or would you just hold the clutch and pull over?
I had a friend’s wife back into mine, and it pushed the bar end in too far, causing the grip to hang up on it. Blew my mind before I figured it out. Lol. I put a little blue loctite on the bar end, and loosened it slightly, so it works right. I think them being aftermarket is why it happened.
Have the same scooter. Whenever I carry it or lay in on one side in the car while I transport it the grip touches the thumb thing and it literally doesn't move. Sometimes it moves enough to where I go but can't stop. Thank god the scooter actually can just ignore throttle input if on the brakes
I ride GSX-R 1000s all the time, even developed my own adjustable throttle cruise control unit. Not once have I come across a throttle sticking like that on any of my bikes.
My bad luck is the cables usually get rusted or they snap when they do get rusted. I usually grab WD-40 just to try to save it 40% of the time you could save it little trick. I learned when I was a little kid trying to save bicycle brakes using WD-40.
I guess mine it's bcs the vacuum on the cv carb is sticky and/or heavier non-oem piston which adds reciprocating mass/inertia. Or tps sensor tune thing.
My old Solifer export 50 had this problem i was sitting in a hall For 5 years untouched. Now The throttle was getting stuck and it had old gas in it so we put some new gas from The intake to get IT running then we put WD40 down the throttle wire and just revd IT so Then IT was better. But when when we did a little finishing touches The standing stick drilled in to The gravel Road and Boom IT started driving on it's own i Tried to hold it in place and Then it flew me Back. Now it won't Start i Tried to check The spark plugs and it won't Start. So i took it Back to My home so i could strip all The plastic off so i can see whats up. I'm still finding motivaation to strip it. Any suggestiongs why it won't Start?
A buddy in a group ride almost died thanks to a mechanical cruise control. It decided to go "on" during a turn... Took it off the next day. A little cramping is better than going off a random turn mid journey 😂
When coming to a stop I always I'm on the throttle a little bit and the clutch just about at that start friction zone just in case I need to go at a split second but also dragging the rear brake and hand ready on the front brake
Mine was the screw down weight on the bar end was pushing the grip up against the throttle housing.. I was going from 5th to 6th on the highway and when it hit the clutch it went straight to the rev limiter, changed my grips and got rid of those weights now it snaps right back..
I had a trail bike where the throttle cable got off it's track inside the throttle cable housing and got pinched. It made it stick like that. Not sure how it happened but took it apart and put it back in it's track and it never happened again.
Although it's true that pulling in the clutch lever practically puts the bike in neutral, the human brain needs a few hundred miliseconds to process what's happening in the event of an unexpected malfunction and another few hundred miliseconds to decide what to do. So it could be too late if you don't have enough distance with whatever is in front of you.
Riding an automatic or a scooter and that happens to you would be a nightmare come true. But basically, just pull the clutch lever like he said and things will be fine

Wao, thats free cruise control 😮. Gotta try that.

Motorcycles with cable throttles have push/pull throttles so this isn’t an issue, shouldn’t just be letting go of the throttle.

Thanks for the info, but how do I fix the throttle without spaping back
For semi automatics
If you have a semi automatic like in the Philippines,
You could just step on the shifter to put it on neutral.
The throttle of my electric scooter got stuck because of the rubber of the handle so that must be the right explanation

Amazing that people don’t know this. Happens in cars too. Suzukis mostly.
Grip could also rub against the othe side too. The bar end piece
Tighten the throttle spring, and replacing the cables. Will do thr trick for bikes that doesn’t have a ride by wire
Can you do a video on how to fix it
Can a make a vid telling us the difference between hp shift and manual shift?

Cable routing also affects this too.
Sounds alot like preventive maintenance. As goes for anything mechanical. Great habits to get into.

I have this problem but it might be the cable I'm not sure
Rear ended cause the throttle got stuck ? Does he not know how to pull in the clutch to slow down ?
Now and then we would take the brake like off and spray WD40 down the tube and re connect the wire. For sport atv but maybe could work on a bike too?

This is why you do maintenance, like the owners manual states.
I thought u would show hue too lube the cables!!
Get a cable luber and keep em lubed. Only about $10 and connects to any spray can stinger.

Most are duel cable so they always roll back
Bro tell something about late accelerator response.... sometime I pull the throttle but bike accelerates approx a half or 1 sec latter
Coming to the end of a highway so I shut the throttle ...revs go up to 1100 I hit the kill switch ...
Cable bend radius is the most common
Priceless data
Some people like hung up throttles. On long rides their hands done get tired

Carb slide spring could be the problem too

Any manual, clutch in and brake if your throttle jams and people just dont do this
I just had to ride home on my moped by turning the ignition on and off. Dangerous shit
Definitely the cruise control😂
Either the cable is locked up in dry rot or it gunged up in wax
Whoever doesn't know this should never touch a bike
If it's a carbureted bike a sticky needle jet can also cause symptoms of a sticky throttle
Can be the bar ends are to tight also. My bandit its throttle kept sticking,so I loosened off the bar ends and like magic the throttle snapped back...pheeeewwww!
