In regards to that last point about saving.
For players who don't want to complete an entire level in a single life, a good compromise would be to make the Invasion phones act as save points.
So you can't manually save whenever you like. You have to fight your way to the next save phone.
Invasion Phones are not used at all in solo play. Might as well give them a purpose by turning them into save points.

I wish invasion mode had more map variety as an axis player. I've been bored to death of the first three campaign missions. If you play one mission, the game should reduce the chance of you getting the same mission again.

    • @English_Speaking_Fox

@@dillonc7955 I think the solution to this is not to focus on which map you play, but to focus on the difficulty level selected by Karl. I’m also bored to death of Atlantic Wall and Occupied Residence, but that’s because most of the players are noobs. However if you come up against an experienced Authentic player on those two levels then it’s a completely different game. I’ve noticed that when I played those two levels as Karl on Authentic, even though I’ll get a fair few invaders fleeing because they don’t want that map again, i’ll eventually get one or two serious players that really really want to play to win. I’ve had some excellent battles on Atlantic Wall on Authentic recently. So this is why I would like the developers to look at some kind of league table where the invader can be matched to Karls based on difficulty choices.
So in that first paragraph I use the word focus twice…… The tricky part about this is that there are loads of experienced players that are not brave enough to play without focus mode and a HUD, which is the primary reason they select Sniper Elite: Hard difficulty instead of Authentic. That’s really annoying! Me and my two sons have conducted a wee experiment recently where we each wore the ghillie suit and deliberately went and sat behind walls near Karls with 40 campaign scores when they were hiding in buildings behind walls & trapped doorways. Pretty much every time, even though Karl could not have see the invader in direct line of sight, we heard the familiar change of the magazine sound as he selected armour piercing ammunition….. and he shot us through the walls. That is something that really spoils the game.

I started playing sniper elite almost a year ago and what has brought me back to the series is the hardcore nature and fundamentals of the gameplay. The more authentic the game feels, the more satisfying the sniping becomes. Sniper elite 4 single-handedly made me enjoy sniper rifles in video games and having the difficulty lowered in sniper elite 5 greatly decreased that satisfaction from learning how the game works on a deeper level. I do love sniper elite 5 but I do deeply agree with BB’s suggestions and criticism with the game as I have experienced the same frustrations he has. There is so much more to be said but I would like to express here (to any developers out there especially) I truly love this game series since I began a year ago and the reason why we voice our frustrations with design choices so frequently is simply that we love these games so deeply and want them to become the best they can be. For me, making the experience even more authentic and hardcore would not sacrifice accessibility as teaching how the game works in easier difficulties would always be an option as teaching tools (like using the aim assist reticle to help teach fundamentals of wind strengths and bullet drop). Thank you for keeping this series going and I really hope the passion I have for these games can be felt.

Agree with all of the grievances and suggestions. Another thing I'd like to see in the next game is a sort of endless sniping mode. One of my favorite things to do in sniper elite games is to find a vantage point and take out as many enemies from range as I can. In SE5 campaign, the enemy population and map design limit how much time I can spend doing this. Enemies in survival also rush you, making it impossible to keep playing a ranged game. I'd like something like no cross, with the player on one side and infinitely spawning enemies on the other.

All-in on that one. At least we'd finally get a SNIPING experience in a game called "SNIPER Elite", and not "SMG Elite"... A lot of inspiration could be drawn on that regard from another competitor in the sniping games category, namely Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, a game that features a number of maps designed exclusively for long-range sniping where the player sits on a inaccessible mountain with an open view on enemy bases. This is what the DNA of sniping games should be all about. Infiltration missions are cool and definitely have their place, but currently the balance went way too far in that direction and actual sniping is almost non-existant in SE5 outside of a couple of maps, so it's about time to rethink the whole concept of sniping in Sniper Elite and rebalance it accordingly in SE6 (because it's obviously already too late for SE5 given the foundations this game was built upon).

Personally I feel the only way to make authentic difficulty harder is to overhaul the AI entirely. Buffing the AI damage output isn't much of a change if the AIs react slow enough for you to funnel them into a tunnel or house if you get spotted. Not to mention SE4's enemy class system flowed very well and added many difficult challenges you had to overcome: from spotters that made you reposition from safe places to valkyrie troops that were the most trained and tanky. Some missions need to add more enemies in general. Remember the last mission of SE4 that had basically all Jäger troops? That should've been the entire submarine base section of St. Nazaire at least...

    • @LeanAndMean44
      @LeanAndMean44 Před 10 měsíci +1

No. A submarine bunker like that is secured by the outside and from the whole mission story that was obviously the idea. Fine the sewers were unsafe so those should have been guarded but the rest of the submarine bunker should be sprawling with workers and engineers and scientists who would have no reason to have a weapon and wouldn’t have been allowed one by the Nazi Elite. What I want to see is how Karl even gets to these places, I think there should be something between missions as part of the story with some cut scenes where Karl has to kill some enemies just to even get to all those places.

  • @Thicc_Boyo
    @Thicc_Boyo Před rokem +11

I imagine the reason why the wind system works the way it does in 5 is because of the sheer amount of different weapon setups in the game and that the devs didn't want to discourage experimentation. I think a way to address it would be to just make the old wind system or something similar to it an optional modifier that can be toggled on in custom difficulty that's also turned on by default in authentic plus. I imagine it could be done by just making the wind indicator completely agnostic to your weapon's muzzle velocity and not scale it to show exactly how much to compensate.
Another thing though: I really don't like the idea of disabling so many parts of the progression system on higher difficulties since it makes the progression feel a bit pointless. It'd be better to just not add overpowered skills to begin with.

I totally agree with what you've said here regarding difficulty.
In sniper elite 4, I used your videos to assist me in completing authentic plus so I know lol.
I will say this though... For those players in a demographic where achieving 100% completion on any platform is not possible, due to ability, time or for any reason, it may be that Rebellion have reduced the difficulty to make the game more accessible to a wider audience. Not being able to complete a game 100% and gain all achievements/trophies would be highly frustrating and would reduce player interest in contrast to your statement regarding elite players. In turn this would highly affect their profits due to wider negative feedback from people less skilled than yourself wanting to access the game.
I would say thats probably the reason that sniper elite 5 does not have authentic plus.
My solution... introduce authentic plus on sniper elite 5, but do not introduce an achievement/trophy for completion in that difficulty. It may be that the people who want authentic plus will want an award for completion, but i think with regard to the factors ive pointed out that this suggestion would be a compromise "plus" players may have to accept.

A slightly different comment. SE5 isn’t a good game bc it’s soldier AI is so bad. You’ve either got nobody hear you or it’s switch to the SMG as everyone horde rushes. My issue with the game is how insanely difficult it is to play as a sniper. SE4 had some great stealth - go take out a pair or three guys with hand to hand and then snipe a group of soldiers at long range. Infiltrate another area, so the same. Perhaps I’m just not getting the SE 5 maps but I find doing this infuriating. The AI really needs work. I agree with restricting some guns and some specialty bullets. Also I don’t like the inability to have some visual health marker in Authentic. Why do I need to guess at how fit I am? While people don’t have gauges in real life, you’d also know how hurt you are. Something needs to be done there - after all it’s not Authentic to get shot 10 times before dying either.

I’m not the greatest sniper elite player. I’ve learned a lot by doing authentic through various years and I’m not terrible either, but in SE2, 3 and 4 I’ve had to use online walkthroughs and a little bit of my own improvisation. Some levels in these took me 10’s of attempts, and on SE3 I haven’t even completed the final mission, making it the only SE game I’ve not completed on highest difficulty. SE5 is just so easy. I did the two most recent DLC levels first try within an hour with no walkthrough. It’s genuinely nowhere near prior games on authentic. Enemies are fewer, less reactive and strangely feel less accurate. The map design makes certain routes very obvious and easy to follow.

This is a great video, some of the discoveries are quite interesting. I was actually shocked and a little embarassed to realise that the bullet drop was indicated on the white marker, I never really looked at it! I just zeroed my scope and guesstimated how much drop I'd need to account for myself.
The thing I enjoyed the most personally was how bullet velocities felt more realistic compared to older games. In past entries the degree in which wind would shift a bullets trajectory felt silly. How can a light breeze push a rifle calibre round off course by several metres at just 100-200m range? It just seemed silly to me, so I was thankful that SE5 felt more realistic in this sense.
Aside from that, I agree with pretty much everything you've said!
Another thing I'd like to add is that the game fell back on generators WAY too much when it came to soundmasking. In SE4 you had aircraft flying overhead, you had artillery guns firing or barrages landing nearby which would act as a sound mask. In SE5 that was almost entirely absent. Instead we had to rely on these diesel generators which were often right in the middle of enemy camps, which just made it impossible for you to shoot "loud" weapons and mask your shots. This in turn forces you to use the suppressors which as you rightly say are ridiculously overpowered.
Oh, and Rebellion... gimmie back my trip mines god damnit! They were my favourite piece of equipment and instead we got those silly shue mines because apparently now we should be mindful and only incapacitate Nazi's instead of blowing off their legs! Crouch running too! Give it back! On the topic of movement, I'd love to be able to change the speed in which we crawl or move with the mouse wheel like in the original game. Other PC shooters like EFT have that but I guess that was a necessary casualty for console controllers.

The supplies issue in SE4 is a moot point as you can save after searching a crate, restart from check point and you can loot the crate again. This can be done infinitely so you'll be able to max out on all your gear.

As someone who’s played the campaign and a mission or 2 on authentic (just don’t have the patient to play every mission on it) I would love a bake mechanic that as time is spent within mission enemy spawns would ramp up making enemies finding bodies or being alert more often. And especially more combatant snipers to hunt and find

  • @romanmacron2171
    @romanmacron2171 Před rokem +2

I'll add more things below but I Agreed on EVERYTHING, especially:
    - AI behavior at 30:54 , it was the best thing SE4 did IMO !
    - Enemy sniper glint 28:08, SE3 was really good at bringing challenging AI snipers (hard to spot, traps, spawning when we're vulnerable). Bring back Sniper reports and sniper nests.
    - Enemy behavior 26:04 and diversity and 26:55, even the new AI types from SE4 DLCs were good
    - Realistic suppressors and attachments (I don't want COD like customization with irrealistic red dot sight and suppressors or whatever, at least in Authentic). Keep subsonic ammo possibility for the weapons that didn't historicaly had a suppressor.
But I need to add up few important things to me:
    1) Remove me every single indication on my map ! I was shocked on my first let's play to see that every objectives were already circled on the map. I tried every settings to remove it but to this day I didn't found. I want to listen to the mission briefing and then following the indications and discovering the map by myself !
    2) Bring back more vehicles diveristy and the possibility to shoot at weak points ! (engine, windows...). SE3 & SE4 were more enjoyable at this thing.
    3) Bring back partisans/resistance fighters !! It was a really good addition in SE4 and I think in SE5 it would balance the intels given by AI between Karl and the invader, both could use the current mechanics of AI to ambush the enemy player ! Even without invaders, it brings life and realism to the mission instead of having a super one man army Karl Fairburne. I think SE5 missed opportunities in missions like Liberation to add US paratroopers or in 2 more missions to add resistance fighters. Maybe we should have a specific objective to accomplish to trigger that specific event instead of it beeing random. So the player can choose either he wants to go loud with friendly AI or keeping his solo stealthy walk.
    4) Remove the minimap for the Invader in Authentic, I hate to know that my Invader has a huge advantage uppon me with a minimap. I'm fine with him having to look his main map to check the AI he spotted, but remove him the minimap and put him at the same parameters as me !
    5) Under Invasion, once i'm dead as Karl, I should be able to reload a specific checkpoint. How often the invader come in just when I accidentely trigger the alarm while it's been 15 minutes I was stealthy. I agree that I should pay the mistake at the first session, but let me reload a checkpoint previous the alarm and invasion for a 2nd session. (maybe limit it to the 2 minutes max before invasion).
    6) Bring us more map and especially weather diversity ! I know the setting of summer 1944 couldn't bring snow like SE4 but please give us more day maps ! San Celini, Regilino Viaduc or Abrunza monestary were incredible during a sunny day. SE5 feel almost depressive with that amount of map during the night or bad weather !!
Don't get it wrong, I still want to see nights and rainy/storm weather conditions but we need more diversity !
Now I would also like to put the light on what SE5 did really good and we need to see in SE6:
    1) Invasion mode, I don't have to explain, it's just the best thing SE5 did bring to the franchise !
    2) Different spawn locations for solo replayability and balance towards the invader.
    3) Tools to open up new routes (wire cutters...)
    4) Awesome map design, even if I prefer SE4 levels, SE5 is still a really solid game with solid levels. Everything looks realistic in its disposition and construction !
    5) FPS possibility when aiming down sight
    5) Iron sight possibility on the sniper rifle, in order to play as a regular infantry man

I have been playing authentic mode and the first improvement you mention is what I have been complaining about. The scope alignment/aiming is too easy. Get rid of the elevation line and have scopes with accurate elevation hash marks to figure out elevation respectively once range has been set. I hope Rebellion fixes this with a patch. This whole video is spot on. I’ve been working on no manual saves A+ SE4. It’s a challenge to be sure and going to take me a while. Took a break to pick up the DLC missions for SE5. Generally first time through I’ll start on the default medium difficulty. Decided to just dive in sight unseen at Authentic. A handful of deaths along the way, but relatively easily finished. And no manual saves because there were plenty of checkpoints. Will probably for my own enjoyment try them both restarting on death, but will definitely go back to SE4 and work on A+ no manual saves.
In all the games, the easiest level is plenty easy for someone just starting out. I don’t think adding A+ new people from trying the game out; just play it on the level that’s most fun for you, and work up the challenge as you improve if you want. But yes, give people who want very difficult challenges what they’d like too, what will make it fun for them.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a few more toggle options, like changing SE5’s indicators to be a true wind indicator, or to turn it off entirely. Toggle to turn off range finding too. Don’t tell me the target is 126 meters away.
Randomization is a good idea across the board, but allow access to toggle to a default for speedrunners.
Especially like your idea of leveled reinforcements.

You explain my concerns really well. It’s like I want to snipe without suppressors but the game doesn’t really support it. It rewards you for staying quiet, so I have to stealth into a firing position to take my shot but half the time the target is indoors so I’m reliant on secondary weapons…and I want to hear my sniper to its fullest power, suppressors ruin that. Why would I chose to go loud with a range of around 140-160m when I can stick a suppressor on it and have a sound range of around 60-70m. It’s a no brainier.

  • @tychaos1667
    @tychaos1667 Před měsícem

I not only want extremely hard difficulty settings, I want more granular custom difficulty.
My favorite thing to do in SE4 is to use a custom difficulty where everything is cranked way up, BUT both the enemies and my character have the lowest health possible.
This makes for immersive, high-risk, high-reward gameplay. You can die in a heartbeat, but so can that squad of four searching for you if you time your SMG spray from the bush nearby.
I was really disappointed in SE5's difficulty options, and I definitely want a challenge more akin to SE4. I *love* the thrill of knowing that if i make a mistake, a single rifle round will end my run and I'll have to start the entire mission over. But at the same time, a smart ambush can make me feel like a fucking super soldier. Absolutely immersive fun.

I particularly appreciated not being punished too heavily for an occasional mistake. Enemies quickly losing interest in finding me, or ignoring mounds of dead bodies wasn't 'authentic', but it was a lot more fun than it has been at times in previous games.

@BrutalBarracuda How ya doing mate? I miss your regular videos! I’m curious to know if you are still playing much SE5? And if so how are you playing it? I’ve got >1800hrs in the game now, and a pattern has emerged.
I don’t play missions as Karl any more, I play saves with the intention of getting invaded, then re-load the save after the match. I have a save for every mission, the reason I don’t carry on with the mission is cos of the stupid cooldown period. The only mission I ever try to complete is Secret Weapons, on one life, multiple invasions.
I gave up playing as the invader because of the tiny number of Authentic games - the inability to filter according to difficulty drove me nuts and I just stopped. I refuse to play against Focus.
So now I only play in co-op with the same partner, we play Authentic on certain maps (Festung, SW, Krakan Awakes mostly), figuring out cunning ways to kill the invader with imaginative means (particularly by calling in an artillery strike). It’s fun and sometimes yields epic contests on the rare occasion we come up against a really good player.
I guess the conclusion is we are having to manipulate the game to create excitement, its the only way we can find the motivation to play it now. We know the maps and the predictable NPC routines so well we can stealth around every single map without detection, and if we are detected they all go back to their routines after a few minutes. Some of the tricks this enables us to do would be regarded by many invaders as “unfair”, like stealthing into the top of the towers in Festung and filling them with TNT. Call in an artillery strike on the tower when Mr Invader is camping at the top, that’s amusing. But I fear even that is going to become boring after a while.
SE5 Axis Invasion brought a whole new dynamic to the game, but alas it has a limited lifespan due to the inability to filter your opponents. Curious to know where you’re up to with it and if you’ve stopped playing what are you playing instead?
    Cheers

If they want more challenge, they play noisy, if they want a bigger challenge, they play Authentic mode. I've already achieved Authentic Plus on the 4, but I just botched the whole game by being always spotted and shooting with my secondary weapon from some shelter (house etc.). I agree that the range indicator doesn’t belong in the scope and would be open to a wind gauge if they were to adjust the ballistics, I would get very frustrated with the wind in previous games just trying to figure out where the hell your shot was going. I understand that games tend to shrink ranges and amplify ballistics, but it always felt so gamey to me when I’d need to aim multiple target lengths away to hit at 300m. As for the suppressors I think that they should keep them for the rifles and just reduce the efficiency of them, they could keep any historically accurate secondary and tertiary weapons as well however those should remain quiet just not SE5 levels of quiet. As someone who likes to play 90% stealth ranged, I don’t like the idea of no suppressors (or consumables) unless there are plenty of sound mask opportunities. Finally for reinforcements I think they should scale with the way you are playing, not so much what difficulty you are on as I don’t think the first alarm on a map should bring the strongest foes to bear. Pretty much everything else I’m in agreement on though, good video.

Many feel like we paid for a beta test and it's still not perfect.
It's definitely a dumbed down version of the previous se editions, catering for the next generation of gamers who want instant gratification.
And wtf is with the focus wall hack?!

  • @Nifter71

Yes, Yes, YES!!! A Thousand Times, yes!
    1) 100%! Sniping in SE5 is WAAAAY TOO EASY. Man, I never even noticed the Scope Adjustment Assist lol. Jebus. It IS just the Aim Assist!
    2) Yup. The Suppressions options are really OP. But with suppressed SMGs just lying around maps like lunchboxes, it's clear we're just in pure fantasy territory here.
Of course we need suppression for stealth. But with the current mods, you can pack a modded-for-sniping Sten, a modded-for-sniping M1911, and a suppressed rifle, so you are completely covered for sound at short, medium and long range. It's too generous for seasoned players. And no, we shouldn't have to be deliberately choosing a more difficult loadout just to enjoy the game. I want my BEST loadout to still feel like it mightn't be enough!
    3) Special Ammo & Supplies: a ridiculous confectionery. Found ammo & items needs to be nerfed. You just don't have to conserve ammo - EVER - in SE5. Randomizing location & contents would certainly be a great improvement here. And reducing the amount on harder levels.
    4) Changing Sniper positions - yes! They had this in SNIPER ELITE 1 ffs! Snipers did not always spawn in the same spots... plus NO SCOPE GLINTS! Snipers in SE1 were absolutely BRUTAL! *
    * How many of the current team at Rebellion do you reckon have played SE1?!
    5) Enemy damage needs to be increased. Dunno how Rebellion can make these dumbfux smarter though. They DO flank, but that's about it. The fact that they can be easily funnelled, in single-file, into narrow spaces for easy execution by Karl is what really makes them fodder.
    6) SPOTTERS: Yes! Baaaadly missed. They stopped Karl from getting too cosey in one spot.
    7) MORE ENEMIES! We need LOTS of reinforcements. We should FEAR them... not deliberately leave the bloody alarms intact just so that we can get more to kill!
    8) Skills: being able to return fire with ONE HAND while injured is, again, RIDICULOUS. Injured Karl should be reduced to firing side-arms (until bandaged) - just as his enemies are!
    9) Disagree ONLY about keeping the 'No Save' option on Authentic. Fans who like a tough game but have little time to play would be very frustrated by that. But make it optional even on Authentic, and sure!
Great job Brutal, you're doing god's work here!

My choice would be my sniper rifle, No. 1, and Delisle Carbine for No. 2, and a .45 pistol, no suppressor, for my pistol carry No. 3. Numerous other games, like Red Dead Online, allow you to choose between any two weapons for on your shoulder or on your back. Why can't this be done with this game? On the topic of audible noise, I think a nice way of doing it could be to give the weapons like the Welrod, especially the Welrod to be honest, is to give it a low audible range, not 4 metres, that's essentially silent as you point out, but give make it very definetly very quiet, that's it job historically, and it gives it it's niche, it also doesn't mean it's horribly overshadowed by a 1911 with a surpressor that just shouldn't be very quiet by comparison. I'd probably have, as an example, give the welrod have a 15-20 metres for it's audible, which is definetly very quiet, but it's not 3 metres, then if you had a 1911 be something like 50 metres audible, the surpressor makes it at best something like 40 metres, I wouldn't necessarily use those numbers, I'd probably have them be a bit louder, say 25 metres for the Welrod, 80 then down to 65-70 for the 1911, but just idea wise I think there needs to be an effort made to give weapons a job. It shouldn't be a case of "I have a surpressor, I am the quietest thing in the world" like it feels like, it feels cheap, unrealistic too, I'm very happy for the game to not be 100% accurate, I think consessions do get made for the sake of balance, enjoyment etc, that's okay, but keeping it very grounded and faithful IS something this game needs to do in my opinion. I love sneaking around with a pistol like the Welrod, but thanks to the AI being how it is, it definetly feels too easy now.
One change I do definetly like and am very happy was done is the changes to weapon handling, being able to ADS with all weapons now gives you a more immersive experience, I do think it makes gunfights easier, but it feels like it was done right, and I definetly enjoy SMG and pistols more for the change, gives them the ability to give weapons a bit more character too which I think is a very good thing for the game to do.
Agree with all of your points honestly, very well put together arguments and definetly something I think they should look at for SE6.

I’m so glad we’ve finally stopped celebrating this game, and started seeing it for what it is. Sure it looks great, but the difficulty is way too easy, and actually there are other problems too. I agreed with 90% of these suggestions. I am a casual gamer who gets smoked on any multiplayer. Even I find Authentic boring. No saves doesn’t even get you a medal. Come on, what happened here??
Another issue id say is the maps, it looks like they were deigned for far more action than we actually get, like the devs suddenly abandoned a ton of ideas or something.
And then there is all this pointless ode to Hitman which is a waste of time. SE isn’t Hitman. Why do I want to knock out Nazis? Especially when there no reason from the mission to do this, and no acknowledgement if you manage a kill free run.

The special ammo, scope glint and silencers are ridiculous and I don't use any of them other than welrod. I wish there was a way they could make it actually worth going stealth. • @user-AdamSmith

I blew through Authentic in SE5 way easier than in SE4; I was genuinely surprised. But not really given how you can pretty much snipe anywhere without detection with the DL carbine, and there's almost no inventory management stress with the amount of ammo laying around. And it's often easiest to find a mounted gun and just cap them as they keep getting on it, one after another.
On the aim system, I don't mind it. But the elevation hash and the wind hash should just be removed in Authentic. But to be honest, if you really want authentic, then distance numbers should not be present either. They didn't have laser range finders back in WW2. And that wind meter marker, even if it was SE4 style, how was that done back in WW2? The reason I hated it in SE4 is the calibration would change from board to board. Maybe one wind mark right was one scope hash right at 100m on one board, but then it was one scope hash right at 200m on another board.
I think the special ammo is cool, and shouldn't be nerfed with difficulty level. I think the ammo should be accurately correct at whatever it does. Can the DL even fire a subsonic round without jamming? If so, then go right ahead. But I expect the muzzle velocity and damage to tank. Still means I can use that subsonic round to ding a church bell or make a ping off a wall. I think the audible range just seems overly generous in general across the game weapons. Maybe it's not, maybe it is. Did anyone take a real DL out to a field with the various ammo and validate the range at which it sounds like a shot taken, versus the various background noise levels of the different boards. And is that sound barrier a circle around my position, or larger to the front, etc.
I do wish they would do different ammo to make it more real as well. You take in your Mosin-Nagant with a load of 7.62x54 ammo and special ammo, that's cool. But the Germans are not going to have that on them, or in their stockpiles in general. That 7.92x57 Mauser ammo isn't going in your M-N.
On the first board in the campaign, when I saw a guy get in a truck and drive off to somewhere else, I was thinking, "sweet, more complex AI patterns to scout out and get surprised by". And the constant vehicles on some boards can be interesting. But I was surprised by the lack of "patrols" outside of the random vehicles (maybe that was their substitute for patrols). But I agree with the make it random part. And progressively and permanently setting the board on alert like it did in SE4.
I miss the radio operators and spotters, but also trip mines. And how does 3 TNT and a teller mine not knock out a tank? As for the enemy count, they could easily have the program load the appropriate number of enemies for the system. And how is it SE4 could give me 300 enemies on XBox One but SE5 can't? Just limiting to Series doesn't solve it, as Series S has much less RAM than Series X.
The bottom line is I'm not inspired by the SE5 boards to want to replay them, nothing like the SE4 boards, for whatever reason(s) I cannot quantify. I will say I like SE5 invasion much more than SE4, if only because of the MG42 😆 And that's to say, I like a lot of the new stuff. MG42, the flare gun is way cooler, zip lines, etc. Give me SE4.5, the SE5 tech with the SE4 boards. And enemy tanks that aren't afraid to actually fire. And maybe destructible buildings. Literally, make it so it only plays on Series X or better, and I'll go buy one.

Awesome video and I 100% agree with everything you said. I played SE5 once and couldn't believe Authentic was the hardest, what have they done to this game? it's not even a challenge any more, where's the enjoyment or the skill? We (the players) expect the game to improve and be more entertaining with each new game not get easier. Enemy soldiers have abysmal intelligence, no strategy and things just get stupidly easy. Rebellion you need to take BrutalBarracuda on as an advisor, or even better a panel of SE4, SE3 and SE2 players as well as REAL soldiers. What could be better than having a professional soldier say "damn that's just like the real thing!" Come on Rebellion, you want lots of money for your games, how about you put something back into it, so the game is worth the money we're paying? I'll definitely be checking videos to see what reviewers think before I put any money into SE6. SE5 was a waste of my money and time - not even DLC's have improved things, only making it worse. I also agree that we need the 1 life of SE3 and maybe NO healing, that'll be a challenge! Maybe the dev's need to play SE3 and SE4 because they obviously haven't with the way this has turned out.

Rebellion’s meat and gravy is this style of 3rd person gameplay, it’s a shame they haven’t got this game right with their history. SE5 is the best one to date in my opinion for everything but the challenge.
Sniper Elite 4 is my real favourite, it had everything I wanted at the time excluding realistic damage to the bodies, like limbs being shot off and explosions shredding up Nazi scumbags - don’t judge me, it’s an adult game, and the realism should be there!
Rebellion’s SE series has brought us something unique, they’ve earned my trust and loyalty, and until 5 it always seemed like it was mostly improving to me, but for all the massive improvements in 5 it just isn’t the same 😕

I'm an "old" PC gamer, with a long history of playing FPS games. I think it started with Wolfenstein and Doom, later Max Payne, MoH, CoD, all typical spray 'n pray games, except the sniper level in CoD Modern Warfare (great level). I got interested in stealth via the Hitman series, but never played a "real" sniper game until Sniper Elite 5. Beautiful game, excellent graphics, all good. But I was surprised to see that pray 'n spray really works well. For some reason the game triggers my traditional playing style. My limited take on it, in general, I have not played authentic:
    - the levels are less open than I expected, you're not able to move to all locations on the map, too many restrictions, sometime too lineair
    - the levels during daytime need other characters than just Nazi's. Where are the villagers?
    - once alarmed, Nazi's should not go back to "white", but should stay suspicious (yellow) at least
    - levels do need more livelihood, like AA-guns being used, not just being stationary objects
    - more enemies patrolling in empty areas of the maps, increasing as the difficulty level is raised
    - I would like to see the possibility to "cook" hand grenades, when you got yourself in a sticky situation
Now as I said, I am a SE newbie, so I have no clue if my comments make sense to the veterans. But a least my 2 cents.

This is what doesn't let me feel full satisfaction upon completing a mission as I know that if I get killed I will start from a checkpoint and not from the very beginning. It is absolutely unclear why developers decided to remove it. To my disappointment now have absolutely no wish to replay the game as there is no even option to disable checkpoints or autosaves.
